And i think it's what most pride events do

The only three demographics the American social safety net makes any real effort to serve are mothers, children, and veterans. Given the state of those communities, you can guess how the rest of us are doing

I feel like, given the less than lucrative compensation for being a teacher, that the profession selects for a labor pool that's more mission oriented than the average worker

It's also possible to find avenues of progress under Biden. Solar and wind are thriving right now and he put a ton of money into the environment space. I work in sustainable agriculture and after the IRA passed folks are able to lay down a boat load of conservation practices. That wouldn't be possible under a trump presidency. Biden is movable to an extent. Trump isn't. A biden administration is undoubtedly better (even if its far from perfect) for progressive organizing.

Refusing to vote is insulting to those who fought for the right to vote. And since moneyed interests are constantly fighting to restrict the vote, that kind of shows that it's important and has power

The agents of those problems are the same folks that have fought and continue to fight against the right to vote for minorities. Would gerrymandering or voter ID laws be such a contentious issue if it didnt matter. It's been a hard fight and to then turn around and say "actually we don't wanna" spits in the face of that legacy.

From my reading they only went on one date, so it seems to me they're saying most of that stuff was things he was fantasizing about with her, not actually based on interactions they had

At most Blackrock charges 2.5%, which goes down as the size of the investment goes up. So pension funds and 401k funds tend to pay quite low fees (lower than a traditional financial advisor)

It's so gross how this is feminized by themselves

In principle insurance is a great concept, especially for home, auto, liability, etc. It allows for a number of things to function well. It should be run as a mutual organization instead of a for profit enterprise

Healthcare though should be funded in a different manner

To an extent sure. But that doesn't outweigh the large decline in others who are opting to have fewer or no children. Many countries are trying to pump so much money into policies to support families are are barely moving the needle on fertility

People don't understand demography at all and just throw their personal politics at the problem

Even wealthy folks show reduced birth rate. Redistribution of wealthy will not revive fertility

That sorta proves my point though. Even in a growth context we're able to shift from ecologically destructive activity to a more stable alternative. Club of Rome style limits would otherwise suggest that economic growth is one to one environmentally destructive and resource consuming and I just don't buy it.

I'm not saying current economic models are environmentally sounds or morally just, more that growth in human capacity is still important in improving quality of life for all and that for a movement based on improving the human condition that degrowth is limiting our species capacity at a crucial time in our history

Ecological limits are a very fuzzy concept. Human systems are actually quite good at using existing resources more efficiently even in a society where growth is allowed.

I will not accept a limit on growth where there are billions with low standards of living. Redistribution is not enough. We still need to make stuff, innovate, and improve people's qualities of life

Political minorities will always exist, their right for speech, protest, press etc. Needs to be preserved

Georgism and cooperative economics (which I argue is more important than a post growth angle)

Yeah, I was just noting that European students have struggles of their own and they don't live in a utopia. Accuracy when comparing systems is important, having a realistic picture of what you're aiming for is necessary

Also just because there isn't tuition doesn't mean it's 100% free. Students still need to cover room and board. So student debt is still possible in those systems

Trump took the slogan in part due to its ties to Reagan

Also Smokeys advice is dogshit and has led to countless intense forest fires from fuel build up

Heritage breed livestock as well as the nutrient cycling aspect of livestock on landscapes is important to. Organic crops run off manure. So much of those systems would be inconceivable without livestock
