The most expensive component is the transmitter and receiver. You can buy one of those mini car from Walmart and take them apart and use it for your project. The reason transmitter and receiver are expensive because it’s durable. It has a longer range of frequency. Depending on the size of the train you can also decent decent dumbo radio controller set for $30 on Amazon.

The RadioLink I’m currently using has gyro. There is some improvement to get it to drift better.

At the moment I have it on my Etsy shop. STL file and assembling instruction manual are included.

At this scale, I have not found any brushless motor that could fit.

You know there’s a YouTube video of a guy turned a life size car into an RC that controls the car with a transmitter.

I’ve not look into ELRS. Are they tiny receivers? Space in 1:64 scale is very limited.

Yep you just need to prep the body shell. This setup can fit most Hotwheels. Rear is adjustable.
