Short answer is no. Slightly longer answer is from a community stream last year when Jordan was asked about the Catalyst (@57:28): https://youtu.be/SL5Yk96bCHg?si=GjkUY48f5p2QvenL&t=3448
Oddly enough this is sorta something myself and Mod Yuey are working on trying to implement, essentially we wanna help improve the bug reporting systems to have a more perceivable aspect for players, not 1 to 1 in the weekly news post but the idea to have a space where "known issues" are actively being displayed is something we are working on.
Would absolutely love something public, akin to github issues, trello, uservoice, whatever it is WB is using, or anything else like that. Along a similar vein, it'd also be super nice to have a status page similar to the one used for so many other sites/services (reddit, discord, twitch, github, etc.), and having it list all the worlds individually in a collapsable section similar to reddit's and discord's status pages would be especially nice.
with the best one, BY FAR, being Shauny, makes me wonder if my definition of what a CM does is biased
It's definitely biased. I'm completely with you on a lot of that, but man, Shauny went way, way outside his job as CM. He had a hand in everything from learning runescript to do content dev during gamejams, to frequently looking up stuff in the game code and editing the wiki on his own accord just to help get info out, to even running the stream room completely solo acting as both producer and host on many occasions. He was constantly on Reddit, even at odd hours of the UK night, and he very often had a jmod lodestone plopped down somewhere with a skilling node just to hang out in-game with players and turn everyone into goebies.
There's a few different concepts you're mixing up:
Achievement Paths typically refer to the tutorial you go through in Burthorpe when you first start. They teach you how some of the skills can be trained and give you an idea of a few different things you can go do/train on your own after the paths. These are simply just a list of achievements put into some form of progression order for when you first start, but they don't continue on after you're done with the tutorial stuff in Burthorpe (with a few exceptions, like the Archaeology and Construction tutorials which are outside Burthorpe, and the Bossing path that lists most the bosses in the game in a pseudo-difficulty order).
Quests are like the story/lore of the game, they don't involve any skill training during them; they're usually just npc dialog, a puzzle, and sometimes a quest boss near the end of it. They're similar to quests in singleplayer rpg games where you talk to a bunch of different npcs, bring them items, do a puzzle, etc.
Slayer assignments (or slayer tasks) are more similar to what other mmos call "quests" - where you're tasked with killing x number of a monster and then returning to the npc that gave you the task, then getting another one, and repeat. This is also just the way of training the slayer skill.
Those three aren't really related to each other in any way, except that one of the Burthorpe tutorial paths (Way of the Wizard) includes the Let Us Slay achievement (an achievement you get for obtaining your first slayer task from Turael or Spria in Burthorpe), and some Quests require a certain Slayer level before you can start them.
Ultimately after the Burthorpe paths, the game doesn't give you any direction. It's up to you to come up with your own goals and figure out how to get them done. Some quests include quest markers that guide you to the next point of the quest, and some quests don't, but no slayer task does (as there's generally many different locations each monster could be at - you've got to figure out which of those locations you want to go to to get the task done), and nothing else in the game guides you in that kind of way either, just the initial tutorial stuff and a few quests.
If you're getting slayer tasks from Jacquelyn, then you can use her wiki page to see the list of what monsters she can give as a task, and then click on whichever monster in that table she assigns you to find a map of that monster's locations. Zombies is a tricky one since there's many different types of zombies that will count for that assignment, so you'll also have to pick which type of zombie before you'll see a page with a map of the locations on it. The generic Zombie monster has many different locations, and you can click the "Maplink" button next to any of the locations on its page to find out where to go on the map. Many of those locations will be in a dungeon rather than on the surface, so you might need to click on the location's name in the table to find that location on the surface map first (you can also just go in-game, click the globe button on your minimap to open the world map, and type in the search at the top).
Got some magic carpet vibes in that one
I know it's probably an unpopular opinion, but I actually like the temperature gauge. I see it as adding variety to the afk skilling, breaking up the monotony, which is part of the reason the beach is seen as better than all the other afk skilling events; completely disabling the heat mechanics would turn the beach into just another afk skilling event like all the others where you just sit in the same spot and do the exact same thing for the entire duration of the event.
It's another mechanic on top of the regular afk skilling event that you have to think about and manage, even if it's just small things like the conch shell and ice creams. You can actively use the conch shells when you get them to maximize your amount of cooldown, or if you're too afk then the shell goes unused for a while and you build up more heat, potentially missing getting another shell drop that could give you even more cooldown.
This part's especially unpopular, but I also like that it gives you a clear stopping point for being at the beach each day. It ensures that the beach doesn't take up all your playtime while it's running - you can "complete" it and go back to doing other stuff, even while it's still running, without feeling like you're missing out on potential drops from it. I don't have anything against the idea of upping the cap on ice creams or something like that if people just want to keep skilling for xp or skilling pets, but I do think there should be some kind of "top end" stopping point where it's clear you can leave the beach for the rest of the day and you won't be missing out on potential drops - like you can't get any more token drops past 5 or 10 gagues, or something like that. Just something to help against the fomo feeling like you "have to" be at the beach and can't do any other content while it's running or you'd be missing out on token drops.
If you're brand new to git & github, I highly recommend Coding Train's Git and GitHub for Poets series. An NYU professor made it, and instead of focusing on code, he explains using git for simple text documents ("for poets") which removes a lot of complexity. It's the absolute basic of basic for using git.
When you’re crafting stuff you do, scrimshaws and such.
Pretty sure they intentionally moved it to the side there a while ago so it wouldn't overlap with xp drops and the dxp interface.
Definitely still missing Shauny, but I think all of us still looking for someone to try to fill Shauny's shoes unfortunately have unrealistic expectations. Dude went way, way outside his job expectations as CM even going so far as learning runescript, doing content dev work and getting involved in gamejams just for the sake of the community because he wanted to improve things.
He also personally ran the stream room entirely alone on many occasions so he didn't have to wait on someone from the video team being available, just to bring us extra streams like the Friday patch notes previews. He even very often stayed up all hours of the night just to browse Reddit and be able to chat with players from different timezones that none of the other jmods normally could since they're all based in the UK.
And beyond that, he frequently edited the wiki on his own accord (even years after he left) and collab'd with the wiki team looking through the game code to work out numbers for calculators like the inv perk calc. Not to mention the jmod interviews and his personal bossing and clue streams taking part in those communities; he was doing everything all at once.
Definitely looking forward to trying out Brighter Shores once it releases. (neat thing btw, looks like the same team from rs's wiki will be running the wiki for it, though personally I'm going to go in blind and try to figure stuff out on my own at first)
Have extra keys you don't want? Put them on G2A to sell them, and G2A will take a cut of the sale.
I've always found it's generally better to just do trades or giveaways with extra keys on sites like bartervg, steamgifts, or steamtrades rather than trying to sell them.
I wonder if there's similar services to them
Use IsThereAnyDeal instead. They show you game prices from all legit storefronts that get the keys directly from the devs. Buying from any of the stores listed on ITAD means the money will make its way to the devs.
Some storefronts you may not have heard of that usually have some good deals: Fanatical, GreenManGaming, IndieGala, WinGameStore, and of course Humble Bundle/Humble Store. If you make an account on ITAD, you can disable certain storefronts too (I've got Epic disabled, for example, since I'm just looking for Steam key prices). Additionally, there's the option of importing your Steam wishlist and setting up email notifications for any of your wishlist games going on sale on any storefront you enable (along with filters for how much % off you want it to be before getting an email, or if you only want an email when it hits the historical lowest price).
They also have an extension called Augmented Steam you can use to show current and historical prices across storefronts on the Steam store pages.
It kind of flopped as a movie, the story wasn't great, but I loved that Coming 2 America was filled with stuff like that. They had basically the whole original cast from the first one 30 years later and many of the original joke setups were still running, like the lady still hopping on one leg barking like a dog so many years later.
Exactly, and they are worth the invy slot. Putting them into pota would be very slightly slower than using the individual items, but not by much, definitely not anywhere near as slow as using a secondary teleport to get to them before using them.
The main issue with them though is that they both take 2 invy slots currently - you kind of have to carry an active one and a stack of inactive ones, so they take up 4 invy slots. They're still worth using for the speed, but it would be much more beneficial to either be able to overcharge them so you don't need to carry around the stack of inactive ones, or put them into pota. Both those solutions would free up extra invy slots that make up for the slight speed loss by making other steps faster with other tele items that currently aren't as worth using.
Those are much slower than using the portable ones if you're actually trying to complete clues quickly and plan on doing a lot of clues. That time adds up pretty quick over thousands of steps.
do some events there for charity on live stream?
I do really miss the all-day charity streams they used to do for Gameblast, they were like a much smaller scale runefest, especially the earlier ones. Jagex hasn't done Gameblast since 2018, and this year's Gameblast itself already passed back in February, but Jagex could definitely do something similar themselves.
Slightly annoying it's being released on a generic/various artists "Release - Topic" channel rather than a dedicated artist channel... not sure if that's something they can/have to config in DistroKid, but it'd be nice to have the releases on a channel where you can actually see the song/album list. Individual artist topic channels like this show all the albums and singles but the generic release topic channels don't.
E: Seems like it's a "partner-provided channel" rather than an actual "topic channel" (auto-generated by youtube), or an "official artist channel," as per this - either of those channel types would have the song list. He should try to set up his main youtube channel as an official artist channel, so it compiles all the songs onto his channel automatically.
Do people say ign for rs now? It's always been rsn for me.
I expect it'll probably be used whenever they move forward with the storyline around guildmaster tony, xephos/silhouette and the black stone, the monolith, zaros with the elder artefacts, erebus, and xau-tak. I still really want some final confirmation on what happened to tony, even if it's just briefly glimpsing erebus through the monolith and seeing his skeleton, but then there's also the question of who xephos and silhouette are, why they recruited reiniger to get close to tony, and why they gave Tony the black stone to (presumably) send him to his death in erebus.
Tbh kind of sad to see that dialog gone. I always thought of it like that's what Zammy believed to be true from his own knowledge on the topic, but in actuality it might be slightly different. I think it's totally fine for npcs to say stuff that's incorrect or not completely lore-accurate if they're speaking based on their own knowledge of the topic. Zammy isn't meant to be omniscient, he could get things wrong and we don't have to take everything he says as 100% factual. That goes for any npc, god or not. Elder god might be a bit of a different story, if any of them are meant to be omniscient.
That said though, removing non-lore accurate dialog does cause less confusion about what is lore-accurate, but that also means there's less to speculate about if we're only ever going to get completely factual dialog and no npc could ever be mistaken.
It's not a bug but clan citadels do a similar thing if not enough people have tried to enter the citadel that week. Kind of wish it wasn't like that though since it discourages smaller/casual clans, when people are only intermittently active, by not being able to benefit from clan fealty and avatar.
Other than the official map packs you can buy, "access to songs" is mods, they're one and the same. There are additional mods for things like the leaderboard rank sites, being able to browse and download custom songs from within the game, giving you a better hud with custom counters, and a bunch of other stuff, but largely modding is adding the ability to have custom songs, so you need mods to be able to have custom songs.
Just for context, that was said by someone else not Jordan, and the others in the voice chat are community members. It was also a very relaxed/meme-y stream, including the "ask a dev" stuff, so some stuff he answered "more officially" and other stuff he leaned into the tone of the stream and answered a bit more jokingly; this one in particular was a bit more jokingly, but it does include how he feels toward the Kickstarter stuff like the Catalyst.
Is there any chance of the Catalyst car becoming available again?
