Wait, they do? Damn I had no idea!
Wouldn't recommend getting it on psvr - you're stuck to only the couple song packs in the base game unless you buy more, and many of the early base game song packs (which is to say, the majority of the "free" ones that come with the game when you buy it) have really, really bad mappings; the patterns and flow of the notes just wasn't worked out yet in the early days.
On pc and quest you can do modding, which includes the ability to add custom songs from beatsaver. Since you can't do modding on psvr, that also means you won't be able to use any community leaderboards or rankings like beatleader and scoresaber or participate in events. Psvr is locked out of a lot of the game from not having mods.
Personally I'd go so far as to not even recommend the game at all if you can't mod it unless you're also planning on buying a lot of extra song packs since most the base game songs are so poorly mapped. That's not to say you can't have fun with them and enjoy the base game as it is, you probably can, but it's just a massive amount of content you'd be missing out on.
Yeah it was one of the thoughts I had regardless: The PC version will inveitably be more versatile. Not that I need mods per se but at least access to songs. At any rate, I'll look into it when next I get a chance. Thanks mate!
Other than the official map packs you can buy, "access to songs" is mods, they're one and the same. There are additional mods for things like the leaderboard rank sites, being able to browse and download custom songs from within the game, giving you a better hud with custom counters, and a bunch of other stuff, but largely modding is adding the ability to have custom songs, so you need mods to be able to have custom songs.
