My mother (74F) 1m67 caucasian, living in Canada, told me this morning that she discovered pink in her urine. I made an appointment with her doctor on Monday, but this afternoon she told me that this is the third day in a row this happened, and now I am worried about whether or not this qualifies as an emergency.
Last time we had to visit the emergency the long wait was very exhausting for her and I don't want her to endure a day in the waiting room for something that can ostensibly wait a few hours.
My mother does not have any kidney problems that we are aware of, has hypertension that is controlled with medication, has a pacemaker and had her gallbladder removed. Doesnt drink or smoke for 15 years. She has screws in her spine that cause her major discomfort if she sits still too long.
This is not intended as a defence of the OP guy, who I do consider icky, but the particular rule of thumb is not the best. It can be used against anything legal but stigmatized, like same sex relationships.
"Normal" falls on a spectrum. and is different depending on your cultural heritage. My 70 year old mom speaks to her sister every day, even though they are currently half a globe away.
I'm not dismissing the dangers of dealing with narcissist parents, but I'm not going to opine on whether he should go LC, as it seems he's managing this fine.

I would offer a small dissent, that, like the atheists you describe, you may be exposed mostly to atheists that come from this section of Christianity. As a formerly Greek Orthodox current atheist, I had very little experience with evangelicals before the internet, and no so do most Greek atheists I know. It makes sense that atheists that feel the most oppressed by the Christianity around them wold be the most compelled to speak out.

I tried to access a file on an external hard drive and It said it wasn,t there. as I checked the drive, any folder I opened from a link claimed it was empty, however, looking at the drive properties, there was no data missing. An attempt to do a chkdsk said the drive was RAW. However, the top level files and folders are still accessible I'm running a Windows 7 PC SP1
EDIT: After I started experiencing the same problem on more drives I tried connecting the initial drive on my macbook, at which point I saw all my files in place and working. I checked with the other ones and it was the same. From this I suspect this is some type of malware issue, but I have no idea how to resolve it.
