I finished my Camino less than a week ago and was in a similar position.
I did the French Way from Leon to Santiago. I had the following requirements:
1.) I wanted to experience the good, bad and great of the Camino. 2.) I wanted to meet people along the way 3.) I wanted nice weather
Besides 3 days of rain, all items where accomplished.
I agree with the comment that “the longer you walk, the more you’ll experience.” Walking from Leon to Santiago was 295 miles of 315 km. It’s a good distance.
I would highly recommend not cheating yourself out of the experience and doing Sarria to Santiago (the minimum requirement to earn a Compostela). The vibe totally changes in Sarria and it’s much more commercialized. The Spanish termed the Sarria-to-Santiago peligrinos, Touri-grinos.
If you walk from Leon to Santiago in two weeks, commit to walking every step, commit to carrying your own bag the whole way, stay in Albergues and be open to meeting people on the way - you’re going to have a great experience.

Hi everyone - I’m concerned about rain on the Camino. How bad is it?
I’m thinking about two options: 1.) The French Camino starting from Leon 2.) Or rhe Portuguese route starting from Porto.
I’m planning to start the Camino this Thursday (25-Apr). I looked at weather for all 14-days and more than half the days it looks likes going to rain.
My question: how bad is the rain? Should I postpone the Camino until May?

This is an amazing idea!! I love it!! Did you do it with a partner? I did a similar trip with a van around the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State and it was fantastic. I feel like doing it alone might be lonely. I know, I know, #firstWorldProblems

Details: 1. American bases in California 2. Man 3. I have to be back to California by May 11th for a wedding and then I can take off again.
Interests: 1. Outdoors. I was looking at hiking Kilimanjaro, but the weather is bad. For reference, I’ve done Everest Base Camp and Patagonia, which I loved 2. Animals 3. Natural wonders. I’ve done Iguazú Falls, the Galapagos, Easter Island, and the Serengeti.
Budget: $15K to $20K. I’ve busted my ass at corporate for years without a vacation.
Misc: I plan on staying at hostels and taking local transportation.
