Just thought this was a funny statline. His surface numbers look pretty good but the way bWAR is calculated seems to penalize him quite a bit for his poor performance with the Mets (-0.8 WAR in only 7 innings). For what it's worth, fangraphs has him at a much more understandable 0.3 WAR.
It's literally quotes. It's reputable, regardless of your overall opinions of the source.
But those people would show up for someone else?
More undecided people will show up for someone other than Biden than will for Biden. It's just that simple. You're acting like the replacement candidate needs to whip the country into a frenzy. They don't. They just have to be better than Biden. There's a handful of candidates who could on day one do a better job of campaigning than Biden.
And that person wouldn’t alienate any Biden/Kamala voters into deciding not to vote?
Is this a serious question? Do you think there are people out there who are Biden or Bust? Most people are voting against Trump. They're not voting for Biden.
Yankees. Ingram for Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar.
The Mets broadcast mentioned how much Winker owned Houser prior to the AB starting and once they did, I just knew he'd hit a HR. I was hoping they just kept the ball down and pitched around him but nope. Hanger up. This bullpen has an uncanny ability to blow up.
The thing is, he was almost as bad last year in the first half (OPS+ of 83) of 2023 as he is in the first half of this year (68 OPS+). But he had an OPS+ of 110 in the second half last year (and historically he's been a better second half hitter); here's hoping he can pull it off again.
Anecdotally, watching him hit, even when he does manage to hit a line drive, it's typically right at someone. Outfield positioning against him seems to be great across the league. His peripherals aren't that much different from his career aside from more fly balls.
Alex Verdugo was on deck, he has a .384 OPS in the last 13 games
lmao, Judge's BA alone over the last two weeks is higher than that (.432). I don't understand why teams aren't giving him the Bonds treatment and just walking him every time they can. In the two game series against the Mets recently, they walked Soto twice right in front of Judge and then he belted HRs (one was a grand slam). Aside from Soto the rest of the Yankees lineup is struggling. Just IBB him whenever you can.
Vasil has a 6.52 ERA in AAA. Tidwell needs to spend the rest of the season at AAA. He's nowhere near ready.
Whitaker only even got MVP votes in exactly one year - an 8th place finish in 1983. That's not even close to HOF.
You can't penalize a guy for the BWAA not having a clue when it came to MVP voting. For example, in 1982, 32 different players got AL MVP votes. Whitaker finished 13th in the league in WAR and didn't get a single vote. Why? Because voters valued BA, HR, and RBI a great deal. Carney Lansford had 2.3 WAR and got votes (hit .301 and played in Boston). Don Baylor had 0.6 WAR and got votes (26 HR and 93 RBI). It's a different era. If he played now and put up those numbers he would get votes almost every year.
Eh. I don't go that far. I don't really care about him as a person but as a player he was absolutely amazing, especially once he stopped fumbling. One of the best players not in the Hall of Fame. Another year or two of playing and he would be in.
Kurt Warner would be the runner up. He had 12 fumbles in 9 starts in his only season with the Giants.
Daniel Jones fumbled 19 times in 12+ games as a rookie. He's cleaned it up a little bit but that is a lot of fumbles.
They're winning 102 games this year and the 2022 Mets can like it or lump it
Prior to tonight they had a 114 OPS+, 3rd in the league behind the Os (125) and Dodgers (120). I would bet that since Lindor began leading off they're the best in baseball (too lazy to check).
MY BOY. NEVER DOUBTED JEFF "BARRY BONDS" MCNEIL FOR A SECOND
Thank you for a non-Spotify link. I realize it makes me old but I'm not downloading an app and creating an account just to listen to a goddamned song.
Is it really that unbelievable when the Yankees collapsed pretty hard right about the same time in 2022? Started 61-23 (117 win pace) then went 38-40 the rest of the way. Not saying it will happen again but y'all were 50-22 (112 win pace) but have since gone 2-9.
With all of the technology we have, I would love to be able to just turn it off. This shouldn't be a hard thing to implement on MLB.tv streams. It's not meaningful on any pitch that's swung at or on obvious balls/strikes. It's only useful on taken pitches that are borderline, but even then it's not official so it's still meaningless. I hate it and don't understand how baseball fans, known to be the most old school and cantankerous, just accepted it so freely.
I'm so glad opinion is sort of turning around on the K zone. I've hated it since day one and I used to get downvoted into oblivion and called an old man for being against it.
yet Vientos didn’t hit this way in AAA.
Vientos destroyed AAA pitching. A .919 OPS overall and a .999 last year in 60 games.
ENTHUSIASM
Second day in a row the Mets walk Soto and then serve up a meatball right down the middle to Judge. Makes no sense.
Also the Knicks don’t need to draft for talent as they are the team in the biggest city in the world.
It's also not how Leon Rose built this team. Mitchell Robinson and Miles McBride are the only impact players on the entire team that were actually drafted by the Knicks. And both of them are reserves. From last year's roster:
- Trades: Hart, Randle, OG, Precious, Bogdanovic, Burks
- FA signing: Hartenstein, Brunson, Divincenzo
- Draft: Mitchell Robinson, McBride, Jericho Sims
Picks do not mean anything to Rose and that philosophy has so far worked out for the Knicks.
In 5 years this team could easily be a shit show.
So we get 5 good years and then a shit show? I will take it.
