I’ve created another system.Promotion

https://another-castle.itch.io/a-to-jump

This one isn’t a game; it’s a tool to be used with existing games. It’s mainly intended to be used to add a bit more structure to more open ended games. It can also be used to make very simple maps (or bases for more intricate ones).

It’s completely free, as all of my work in this area is, so feel free to check it out if it seems interesting.

A Playlist of Resources for NewcomersBlog-Post-Links

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwdF4YlTWnRGJcIpNDIkOCkLAUeWzyxGL&si=0S16LCGY9H7D1BIe

I’ve created this short playlist of resources I believe would be helpful to newcomers, since I so often see questions from them.

I’m sharing this primarily so that it’s accessible, but also because I want to know if any experienced players have further resources they’d like to share. If you know of any videos particularly, please link to them; I’ll add them to the playlist.

The same people that said college is necessary.

Local Storage is virtually the same as variables, though there are a few differences, and reading its documentation will help you understand the differences.

You can also store lists in local storage if you convert them into arrays or JavaScript using one of the handful of list extensions.

As for the first example, it doesn’t have to be YouTube. There are two extensions you can use together to import and save any video file in a project, I’ve tested it with mp4s upwards of 15 minutes long and it works perfectly.

As for the second, perhaps wait (1 / (frame rate)) seconds and then next costume in a repeat until loop will be more optimized.

But unless you need transparent backgrounds - e.g., layering a jump scare animation over a regular game screen, which I’m not sure whether or not FNaF even does; it could just be canned animations, there’s only 4 -, just use the two extension approach I just mentioned. There’s zero lag.

“Also not Spain”

(I really hope someone gets this reference)

I get the feeling that you do have one, Emperor/Empress.

Said this elsewhere, but I’ll say it again: saying every INFP has one is like saying every apple is red.

I got ENFP once. I would say that those tests aren’t as accurate as they ought to be, and self typing is often more accurate.

Don’t worry about “the one”. That kind of thinking can be severely damaging. If you like him and he likes you, that’s really all that matters. Anxiety is completely normal.

I think good/bad is the wrong dichotomy here. It’s too vague.

If you find it interesting and don’t mind investing time learning the rules of a game, you could try one of the following (the latter is based off of the prior, and both are phenomenal; both are free):

  1. Ironsworn. Its default setting is kind of Nordic-gritty (I call it “Skyrim but with less magic and more fur coats”). You can play it in any setting, though, and it has a lot of wonderful expansions (official and unofficial) that help with that. If I were to compare its gameplay (in the default setting) to existing media, it would feel similar to (again) Skyrim and The Lord of The Rings. It’s 5 stars for a reason.

  2. Iron Valley. This one is more akin to “Animal Crossing meets Stardew Valley, meets Harvest Moon, meets The Sims, meets Minecraft, meets basically every iyashikei anime”. It’s a lot simpler than Ironsworn, and a bit more versatile (the skill and crafting systems are fantastic, and the default book allows for fantasy, sci-fi, and contemporary settings). This is also only a small part of it, but it has some original livestock species that are kind of like Pokémon, and there’s this thing called a “Nubelli”, and it’s this spherical blue bird that floats around in a little cloud; I find it adorable.

Both of these could be used to help with your writing, and one of them should hopefully fit the style you’re going for.

One more thing and I promise I’ll get out of your hair (I’m sorry, I just get excited whenever I have an opportunity to share this stuff):

Solitaire role playing can be a deeply immersive way of exploring that world. It may sound odd, but it’s a hobby with a fairly large community, and a lot of potential to create intricate stories. I won’t recommend a complex game system because I don’t want to detract from whatever your vision is, but I will leave you with this. It’s free and a short read (.pdf). See if it seems interesting.

It’s Selfie Sunday, a tradition on r/INFP, from what I’ve seen.

M. Kirin’s Iron Valley is similar to Minecraft, albeit the presented setting; if you played it using Minecraft’s “setting”, it’d work flawlessly.

Same to you. As a quick aside, be sure to look at his videos on lore/worldbuilding, enneagrams, and dialogue, they’re invaluable. And when you’re writing scenes, keep in mind that the act structure he presents in the video I linked works on the scale of scenes as well, and you could build off of it.

Another thing I want to share to help with the creative process is this. It is - and I really do mean this - one of the most helpful brainstorming exercises I know of. It works for any writing project, so don’t worry about it being targeted towards Dungeons & Dragons.
