Where I live minimum wage is $20.00 an hour for McDonald’s employees. Do the servers deserve more than 20.00 an hour ie tips on top of a minimum like that? People cannot afford to eat out, so yes everyone should stay at home and cook for themselves. We just end up in a situation where minimum wage increases and the cost of living increases so we need to increase the minimum wage et cetera. At some stage in the process pay people a fair wage and charge customers a fair price like all other businesses. Or maybe go the other way and the professionals teachers, doctors, lawyers, engineers, accountants, pilots et al should ask for tips with their bills.

I would like to see the minimum wage posted next to the tip suggestion on the bill, so then the customers can make informed choices about tipping. Not federal minimum but actual local minimum wage. So if the server is getting 15.00 an hour I know that I am paying it via the cost of my meal.

You first need to understand what the problem is with opening up this line of questioning. And whether you are prepared to deal with it. Could she have had an affair? Could the hospital be at fault? Was she sexually assaulted? How does knowing the answers change your relationship with your son? What happens with your wife? If you keep it to yourself what could happen to you?

We should end tipping because it’s outdated. The city where I am at requires a minimum wage of $18.29/ hr and then they are expecting 18-25% of the check on top of that. We are not talking about a $2.13 an hour federal minimum wage this is 38k a year minimum. How much should you tip? An average meal is about 40.00 per person due to having to pay increases in minimum wages. When do we just recognize that tipping is getting out of hand? Or should we start tipping everyone?
