As a New Yorker, agree.

I was just about to update! It turns out the specific book he lost was Extreme's II Pornografitti. I was way off, lol.

Very happy to say I bought one, and he'll be very happy to have a part of his start as a guitarist back, if only for the nostalgia.

Thanks all!

Looking for a bookQUESTION

Hey all. Since I've had zero luck searching online, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask here.

I'm looking for a book titled something like... guitar pornography or music pornography. It would be a gift for a musician friend who has been playing guitar for years in Mexico, but I think he bought it in the States in the 80s or very early 90s.

He lost the book in a fire, and to be able to get him a copy would be amazing. Obviously, I don't want to confirm the title with him as it would be a surprise, but I'm having no luck.

Does anyone have any idea of the proper title?

Thank you!

Very true! I spent a lot of time in the ocean before leaving. That said, allergy meds worked perfectly after three days as opposed to vertigo/nausea meds.

Thank you. It just really took me by surprise and seemed to come out of nowhere. Appreciate the response!

Weird question - altitude

I've spent the last four months in Playa, and just returned home back to New York, Adirondack mountain area. I was fine the first night (got in at 1:30am 🙄) but the next day was very different.

It felt like either vertigo or altitude sickness. Unfortunately I've experienced both. I've ran head first into walls, fell backwards into my bathtub, lol, and can't walk without holding onto a wall.

I've taken allergy meds, and vertigo meds. Today seems to be a bit better - meaning I haven't fallen over. 😅

Is this a thing? Going from sea-level to mountain level? I had it really bad when I traveled to Colorado from NY, but this is a first from PdC to NY, and I've been back and forth for years. I just had never stayed that long.

Thoughts?

It's your Mom, and you'll be fine. I'm a solo F traveler, live here (Playa del Carmen) and have never had an issue. All the advice you've already been given is spot on. Common sense rules.

Also, the first time I went to Las Vegas, my Mom insisted I stay out of drainage pipes because of something she saw on Dr. Phil, lol.

Awww. So sorry I'm not on Reddit 24/7.

I'm also sorry you're incredibly intimidated by her. I'm so white I'm transparent, and when I met her, she was kind, funny, and very welcoming.

Sounds to me like you have a problem with outspoken black women. You should fix that.

Jasmine is fucking amazing, dude. If you're out here trying to trash her, you're the clown, lol.

I get searched every time I come into the country, and I live here now, but still have a US passport.

For real. I live here now and I'm just getting used to the size of some of them.

I love The Fives Downtown. They do have an all-inclusive option but I never wanted or needed it.

Rooftop bar/pool, and another bar on the main floor. But pricier for what you can get, but everything you want and need is either there or steps away.

Thanks. I just talked to a neighbor and she said the same thing.

I haven't seen that option yet, at least on Uber Eats. I was going to order tonight, but I've been up since 3am to get here, into my new apartment, start cleaning, and I'm so exhausted I walked to 7-11 and got Ramen, lol. I will definitely explore the apps more. Tonight, I'm just too tired.

I haven't. My debit card is (was, lol) tied to it, but I've been changing everything like that to my credit card now. And, to be fair, my local credit union was just purchased by a much larger one, so a whole lot has changed. When I return later this year for Xmas, I'm switching banks altogether.

Exactly what I have done. At the top of the page, I explain the context of the document, and then redact the company name and ANY proprietary information from the excerpt.

As a hiring manager, if I see anything proprietary in a writing sample, I would never hire you.

I've also included pages with just TOCs, flow charts, and examples of improving maturity and usage statistics.

My name and contact info are in the top corner of every page, and I will only send out an uneditable PDF version. I trust zero vendor companies. I've way too many shady shit to trust they're not sending my work as an example for other consultants/contractors.

Really? It must have been quite a while since I tried using Uber Eats down there. I'll give it a try on my first night while unpacking and cleaning, lol. Thank you!

Using Rappi - Ugh, lol

I've posted previously about using Rappi while visiting Mexico, thinking it was a local company and quickly corrected. (Thank you.)

My question is I noticed that even I order something inexpensive (McDonald's breakfast for example,) my debit card is charged an insane amount - $60 USD for example. Clearly this is way above any fee for conversion and any charge from my bank.

I've attempted to reach out to Rappi support but their virtual assistant is useless.

I'm moving to Playa for 2.5 months on Thursday and while I don't expect to have to use any delivery service very often, I do have a medical condition that can sometimes prevent me from walking very well.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? I would love a cash on delivery option for just about anything but finding that seems impossible for any of the delivery apps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! ☮️

  1. It's actually not "that" much stuff. Clothing, of course, and just a few items from home to make the place "mine" but won't fit properly in a suitcase.

  2. I can bring two checked bags for free, but I would trust a courier more than airline with the items.
