Thank you! Perhaps I shall experiment and see if I can recreate the results haha
Oh that’s odd! Did you also sit down at any time during the rehearsal? Maybe something on the floor rubbed off? That or your sweat somehow interacted with the dye in the tights?
I’m commenting because my skin is greenish yellow and I’d like to know how to recreate that!
For real though, did you by chance wash the tights with anything else in the washer? Sometimes dyes run off.
This ain’t safe at all. And not necessary. Regular gentle stretching will get you similar results, without risk of injury.!
By chance you find piqué turns easier? I can do those neatly. Chainé turns across the floor and pirouettes are harder for me.
Recommend going to r/BALLET for more specific advice!
Before you do double turns, you need to do consistent and clean single turns. Before you do single turns, you need to have a good strong relevé passé hold. Are you able to spring up into relevé passé and balance? Are you able to do single pirouettes consistently?
{A Song for Summer by Eva Ibbotson} hits most of the criteria except the widower part. The book is set during the same time period as Sound of Music. FMC goes to Austria to work at a school. MMC is part of the Resistance effort. There’s a Eurhythmics instructor and turtles with wheels somewhere in the book.
Hi there! Here are some others that work for me: Koh Gen Do 213, MAC NC16, MUFE Velvet Powder foundation Y225, and Tower28 tinted sunscreen in Melrose.
Wondering this too since I’m NC16
Stars: last week during a workshop, I was the one who led the intro students through a combo, since I am familiar with the moves and have done similar combos in the beginners class. And the teacher gave me feedback on the dancing/movement quality since they don’t need to worry about whether I know the moves.
Wishes: dang pirouettes! They’re like the one thing that’s holding me back. High extensions, big jumps? I got you. Pirouettes? Meh.
I got a nude racer back bralette from Target and it’s stretched out so fast, plus the band isn’t tight enough to actually support anything and sits ON the breasts, rather than under them. Urgh.
It’s okay if you had to leave class due to not feeling well. I’m sure your teacher and classmates would rather have you step out of the room a few times instead of fainting. I’ve had a few moments in the studio where I had to sit out a petit allegro combo because I overheat when it’s hot and humid. It’s okay, no one will think less of you for it.
That being said, if this keeps happening, it might be a good idea to talk with your doctor and see what may be going on.
Definitely go by girth. I am very very similar in measurements to you but take a Medium in some leotards due to my girth. In other brands I take a Small. It depends on how large or small the brand’s leotards run.
Bringing your therapist a cup of tea or coffee is not forbidden! It’s fine as a small gesture of thanks. Usually therapists are discouraged from taking gifts with significant monetary value, but smaller items can be okay at the therapist’s discretion.
In my case, it’s:
doing an adagio where I feel more in control and balance well. I have decently high extensions but it’s been hard to literally balance stability and extension height.
Having free rein in grand allegros to jump high and travel across the floor. Feels like flying!
Doing a nice rond de jambe variation. It makes me feel like a ballerina and there’s something about the arc the leg makes that is satisfying.
I know not to follow them, I’m saying that it’s confusing for the newer folks, who might rely more on copying others at first. You do you, no one is saying you can’t add an extra turn or cabriole if it’s allowed in your studio. In some other studios, there’s a tacit expectation that the more advanced dancers still follow the instructor’s directions and help the newer dancers across the floor.
Yeah I hate when that happens. I don’t mind when the more experienced dancers help the less experienced ones out by leading the combo across the floor, but hate it when they randomly start doing super bendy stretches in the middle of barre or bust out some extra turns, which just confuses the other students.
In my case the teacher just expects you to automatically be able to reverse the combo in your head lol, so I wish I could say my teacher forgot to show the other side.
I feel you, I am very cool green-yellow and finding a good foundation shade has been very hard. Almost everything is too pink or too orange. Maybe you could try Koh Gen Do 213 and adding some white mixer? That shade has been the best undertone match so far for me. Another option might be to check out About Face F2.
I am at a complete loss for how to match my skintone......
