Well, the oats don't know if they're supposed to be hot or cold.
Oatmeal is meant to be HOT!
Says who? It's a food and can be eaten anyway that's not dangerous for you.
I had it today, it's great!
Yeah, but they are super-cheap, very healthy, and marginally edible.
lol they’re lazy? I understand not liking them but how can food be lazy? I don’t enjoy eating early. I used to do it so I could eat breakfast on my work break at 10am. It’s not that I wasn’t up in time to eat breakfast. Also I don’t like regular oatmeal. I prefer overnight oats because of the yogurt.
Alternatively...don't eat them. But calling people who struggle in the mornings lazy for trying to eat less processed or sugary foods is just idiotic. Because you wake up rested enough to be cognitively able to cook fresh food is great. But shaming others who can't ks a garbage take. Also it can be made with whole oats and then heated up so they can be hot.
I think there's one for everyone:
- Overnight oats - takes the longest, ostensibly the 'healthiest/best'
- Quick cook steel cut oats - takes about 5-10 minutes, easy to make it hot
- Instant oatmeal - takes about 3 minutes, usually preloaded with lots of sugar
How are overnight oats healthier than my 1/4 cup steel cut oats with chia seeds and almond milk?
Healthier of the pure-oatmeal choices. If you add other things, it's a different equation.. since you could also add chia seeds/almond milk to overnight oats.
You can warm it up 😅
I love overnight oats. I prepare them as part of my bedtime routine and then I just grab them on the way out the door. They allow me to get as much sleep as possible, while also making sure I eat breakfast so I’m not starving all day. And they’re decently healthy. Stop hating on the oats
Just started bringing them to work, they’re convenient and I can actually throw them together before 6:00AM and eat them around my 9:30AM break and they’ve maintained some chew.
If you get your equal parts liquid and oat ratio correct and use old fashioned or steel cut oats they don’t get overly mush.
Yah, they’re nothing special, but it’s a better alternative than the 1k calorie sausage gravy burritos I was meal prepping before hand. 🤣🤣
Man I hate hate hate hot oatmeal. Overnight oats are way better and also who said we’re using instant oats? I use the same one you use for hot oats I just soak it in milk overnight.
It's not unhealthy because it's literally the exact same ingredients, just left overnight instead of eaten straight away.
I’m with you. My wife made them for me early on in the relationship. It was disgusting. Pretty sure I said “I’ll stick to oatmeal thanks”
Was slimy and cold. And it had all the good ingredients in there. Just gross.
I know! Like the fridge overnight makes them into a sludge and all these health influences are obsessed with them. Also they contain like 500+ calories after they add all the stuff, i’d rather have my serving of hot oatmeal with chia seeds, peanut butter and a splash of almond milk, and use the remaining calories for PROTEIN. Like eggs and turkey bacon.
maybe im in a weird bubble but I have never had Overnight oats or have ever seen a single other person I know eat them.
I like it cold. Like pus
How about a puddle of hour old semen?
Hour is too long
I had them for the first time in college. My old roommate LOVED making them and she would beg me to try it. I did one day and it was the slimiest, nastiest oatmeal I’ve ever had. It also didn’t help that she added chia seeds to it 🤮
I concur with your perspective. Additionally, the process of preparing oatmeal is notably time-efficient, leading me to question the validity of claims regarding morning time constraints. The simplicity of boiling water, incorporating oats for a brief duration, and subsequently concluding the preparation within mere minutes underscores the feasibility of integrating this nutritious option into one's morning routine.
I tried liking overnight oats but I couldn’t stand the texture. I prefer Greek yogurt parfait, mix in honey for the sweetness and fruit you’re good to go
i have no idea what overnight oats are
