There might not be as many kookaburras in the middle of Sydney but they really are the king of the bush. I've watched the pecking order in a prime tree I used to overlook and the kookas would easily clear out everyone else, and sometimes eat their babies. Currawongs were the second toughest, maybe magpies after that but cockatoos operate in packs so they might win that way.
That's a good point, kookaburras do seem to be one of the most intelligent birds and do seem pretty dominant with other birds. They make that crazy snapping sound with their brake too.
Cockatoo would fuck it up the second it got it's claws on it. Only way a magpie wins is by outflying it. But cockatoos are surprisingly agile and smart so the odds of them not getting together at some point is low
