The SC community has been able to justify the incompetence of months of unplayable shit (like the 3.18 patch) as "growing pains". What's really interesting is that actually delivering something has turned the majority of the community against the game.

Now that they're actually cranking out features people are seeing their design team is a fucking dumpster full of cat shit, on fire, with gasoline being poured onto it.

It's one thing to fuck up. It's another to stab your entire core audience in the back for console players who have been calling this game a fucking scam for the past decade.

ILW will be a shit show and they'll panic, make worse decisions, and spiral.

If they keep delivering this trash and Sq42 turns out to be exactly like the shit everyone hates then it's gonna be a wild fucking flop of a year for CIG.

The comments from the cult have been pretty interesting to say the least, but mostly the same ol' "when meshing jatgon tech is implemented" or "if you connect to a 30fps server there are no bugs" madness. I honestly believe now that some are just too blind to see anything, and there certainly are cultists.

Anyone willing to wait even 2-5 more years " when the tech enables missions to function properly" is mad. Netcode doesn't magically fix badly designed AI pathfinding, questlines, graphics, etc. etc. etc.

No no you don't understand, when server meshing comes out, every single room in a Javelin with more than 5 players will be it's own server, interacting with any piercing round that goes through each one interacting with all 10 servers it goes through. The other ship that fired it is also made up of 10 different servers.

A single ship made of 30 servers working flawlessly is a totally practical and realistic expectation of the game. CIG certainly will have the resources to run so many servers, constantly.

I heard some interesting stuff recently...If you connect with a High ping to a server, the WHOLE server is tanking...because he has to load stuff for your slow client and WAIT for you and drop his FPS...wat? i tought the client/server authority was solved months ago...since when servers have to wait for a friggin client?

Yes there is dissatisfaction all around but I don't think you'll see backers giving up so easily. In fact, I would not be surprised if this Year would be roughly equal in sales to last or even surpass it in the end. The Pulsar sale looks to have been a big success so there's still plenty of interest in LTI. People just want to believe, you know?

EDIT: I need to note one thing. With 3.23 bounties appear to have become too difficult to solo (you take more damage than the target is worth and even low level bounties are hard to kill). The flight model being widely hated by the "'pro's" and combat being too difficult for non-pro's could lead to solo players leaving and this would be visible.

I have honestly not tried big ships but isn't it the case that they'd be more expensive to repair and all weapons now penetrating shields means you'll get damaged either way ?

Not sure on shield bleed for all weapons. The cost of repairs is true. I have yet to experience it as I haven't needed to repair yet but I have heard people reporting that between repairs and resupply it's hard for even fighters to break even, let alone larger ships which do cost more.

As it stands I don't think any combat mission provides enough reward to actually engage them as intended. That might not be out of the ordinary for CIG design though as I believe large ship costs were suppose to be supplemented by industrial professions anyway. Only those professions can't even support their own ships atm. Lol!

I wouldn't be so "optimistic".

There is a reason Chris Roberts was able to keep the scheme going for over a decade.

Personally, I would wait for at least 5 quarters of solid double digits declines in JPEGs sales before making any statements about the state of the project.

And even in the situation outlined above, they could fire most of the team and just keep selling JPEGs while getting a skeleton crew to shit out occasional broken patches.

If there is one thing that Robbers is good at, it's getting the citizens to buy JPEGs against all odds.

Ditto. I’ve seen too many posts claiming that this is the moment or whatever and I frankly don’t see it. Personally I don’t see it going anywhere unfortunately. There’s too many whales, too many sunk cost rubes, too many people who’ve bought in that need to see some kind of validation for their years of being in the cult. I don’t know if the SQ42 demo was all smoke and mirrors like the rest of the trailers have been or not, but stuff like that is enough of a dopamine hit to keep people in the loop and pledging to the cause. You know because pledging isn’t a loaded word compared to preordering or “micro”transaction.

Tbh tho I’m just done caring. It’s been too many years and there’s tons of fun af fully finished gems out there like Helldivers that I can play rn that respect my time and money.

Gaming as a whole mostly attracts the bottom 50% of programmers now. Comparatively low pay, long hours and regular layoff cycles make it hard for gaming to prevent brain drain as is.

Now add to that, CIG is going to attract the bottommost of THAT pool. Explains a lot.

Although deserved if it ever comes to be, I don't see the dumpster fire burning yet cause CIG somehow still manages to pull themselfs out of a whatever shallow decrease in funding...see last year when we thought "ok this may be it" and then they hit us in the face with the whole "hold the line" thing that made backers cream themselves.

Unless there is a quarter or two with a noticeable decrease compared to the previous year, I wouldn't really say "this is it"...and even then, if it came close to that CIG will whip out another "new thing" that'll probably give them a quick finding push to break even again...see the F8CLightning and such.

For the truely desperate occasion, incase funding should ever take a nosedive, they probably still have the Bengal carrier in their backhand.

Reclaimer blows up suddenly on takeoff, 2nd reclaimer stuck to hanger floor at different port, store, claim, missing, lost, 30min wait. Super buggy 890 jump mission, crimestat, try bunker mission, PVP guy comes after A2 for crimestat, can't just jump away anymore to avoid annoyance. Bunker mission after totally bugged, all npc's eliminated, lots of other people have been there, codes all over ground, leave mission, bounty hunter pvp guy has been waiting a good 40 min for us to leave gun range of bunker, blows us up, can't jump away, game is disastor.

Thats what I'm asking. Stability is at an all time high. This release was one of the most stable ones we've had yet. All features seem to be working as intended, everything about 3.23 I've heard, has been extremely positive (Excluding some hate for Mastermodes). This patch runs well, extremely feature packed, and it's only going to continue to get better.
