Bayer Leverkusen lift the Bundesliga trophy
MediaNever thought I'd see this tbh
Seems very weird
Seems very great*
Congratulations to Leverkusen for graduating
Summa Cum Laude
Imma Cum Loud
Imma Cum Louda
CUM ON LEVERKUSEN SCORE SOME FACKING GOALS
SHALALALALALA BAYER LEVERKUSEN ARE CHAMPIONS
Now they have the same number of Bundesliga titles as Rapid Wien
*German titles. Rapid won it before the Bundesliga existed.
Football was invented in 1962
I think you mean 1992, everyone know that the premier league was the first league in existence
You know what else is true? Its the original "3-0 is the most dangerous lead". Schalke was 3-0 up at half time but they won 3-4 after 90 minutes.
Happy for them even after our shitshow of a season
Yeah, I get the feeling that some people will try to downplay their achievement a bit just because Bayern didn't play as well as they often could in the last decade. You know, "if Bayern played like they usually do then Leverkusen would have lost at leats once". Something like that.
But it's an incredible record for league games alone and it just gets even more ridiculous if you include the other competitions too.
I don’t think so, Leverkusen got 90 points, second most in history. A good bayern can’t influence 32 games of leverkusen. That leverkusen team could also have won 2013.
Bayern got 1 more point then last year.
They won Bundeliga on goal difference last year.
They came 3rd this year.
They got 71 points last year
The point is not about them winning the league but winning as invincibles. One win from Bayern (in their ruthless form) against Leverkusen and they wouldn't be invincible. So some may take Bayern's lack of form having "enabled" Leverkusen or something like that.
Didnt Leverkusen was the only loss for bayern in 2013 which ruined their invincible season? Can always refer to that lol.
A strong bayern doesn’t mean leverkusen would have lost against them. In their best season they had one loss and 4 draws, it’s not like they won every game by default.
I' just C&P my other reply here too:
People find the weirdest things to write footnotes about with such records. I'm just pointing one such possible excuse out. It's clearly an incredible record.
It happens all the time. Pep had a great record here at Bayern (and broke quite a few of the records Jupp's Bayern had itself broken just one year ago) but some people still think that he failed because he essentially didn't get a triple treble or something like that (as if the treble right before can be assume as some sort of base level from now on).
In a few years there 100% will be people who don't remember this season at all (if they even saw a match) but have a vague recollection of Bayern's manager spectacle that they'll have some sort of "Leverkusen won but…" excuse going on.
What are you even saying?
In essence: I think that people will be downplaying Leverkusen's achievements because they have seen about zero Bundesliga/Leverkusen matches because it's not the PL. And Bayern's manager circus got quite some headlines too :/
With the level of play they had this season I think Leverkusen and Stuttgart would have done really, really well in the CL (solid semi-final and upwards level of performances from both). They've been easily playing better than all four CL semi-finalists in recent weeks but one has to actually watch their matches to see how good they are (seeing a bunch of 90th+ minute goals clips and looking at stats is not the same).
I think the natural response to this is that Bayern despite all their dominance never managed to go invincible, and they themselves never had to face a ruthless Bayern team either.

its not always everything about you guys..
Guess what, that's still what people will soon reference because they didn't actually watch Leverkusen play and don't how good they are. Anything that's not PL related gets a weird asterisk attached to it (or commentary with a disturbing lack of basic comprehension).
Seen it happen too often to think that will change any time soon.
I mean, even if Bayern won both games against Leverkusen, they would have still won the league by a wide margin (11 points). Bayern Munich has no influence on matches of anyone else against Leverkusen.
Leverkusen completely deserved this league win
I might have phrased it a bit badly but it's that some people will find a way to diminish the achievement of an invincible season (plus however long that streak goes) because Bayern didn't play as well as they did before and any one win against Leverkusen would have broken that streak. Simply because they didn't watch any of the games and because they'll remember the Bayern manager clown carousel (and maybe some hearsay/stats about way too many lucky 90+ minute winning goals from Leverkusen).
Just a few weeks ago, Stuttgart won against Bayern (3–1) and they played better, with more intensity, and more dedication than any of the actual four CL semi-finalists did around the same time in the CL. Stuttgart's main attacking trio this season even scored more goals than their famous magic triangle (Balakow, Elber, and Bobic in the mid 90s). Those two teams (Leverkusen and Stuttgart) have been that good (and they would have had a lot of fun in the CL this season) but idiots will find a way to play down what those incredible teams did.
Should have been a golden trophy
I believe the plan is to get the golden trophy in August
There are no such plans confirmed.
DFL have neither confirmed nor denied, they are still in talks if this is going to be done.
Should have been a bigger trophy
As a Finn, it's kind of crazy to see a Finnish player lifting a trophy of this importance as a captain.
Fucking link doesn't work
He looks handsome on every single picture
I'm not crying, you are crying 😭
Finally uncursed
Deserved
we really have the ugliest trophy of them all for the league only to make it up by having the most beautiful cup
I think it is even one of the best looking trophies of the plate trophies, just that the plate trophies all look underwhelming.
Ligue 1 league title more ugly
Sadly. Like, I dig the hexagon idea but do it differently lol
Its a plate for the schnitzel to go with the beer from the cup when you win a domestic double
we also have a plate, except ours is literally just a tin dinner plate
In the a-league we have the toilet seat. fantastic
that shit is absolutely tragic.
But on the positive side everyone brings toilet seats to the games and wears them if they their club win the title.
I had to google this. It didnt disappoint.
Both Ligue 1 and Serie A have worse trophies.
So strange to see so much emotion after years of watching Bayern celebrate like they just came from a funeral.
That's not fair, Bayern always celebrated really well on all of their trophies.
I often felt that they were just going through the motions. Considering that they won eleven years in a row, it is even understandable.
Not every player won those though, for every single Bundesliga they won, it was at least 1 of the players first, no?
What? For example last year, they arguably showed more emotion than Leverkusen this year.
Bayer NeverLusen
That was the weirdest season in a long time. Leverkusen's winning the league, Stuttgart 2nd, FKC in the Pokal final and Dortmund in the CL final
And you 3rd
Incredible just incredible
The Macho Man would be proud.
Amazing moment
Absolutely deserved. I hope this is a sign of the times that bayerns domination era is coming to an end (huge cope on my part)
Their first title was without any losses. That's such a cool thing to remember.
Where is the golden frisbee, pill bois deserve a golden frisbee
They can make a golden copy for the cabinet but the og trophy goes back in DFL possession. That’s why it isn’t golden.
This is football heritage 🥲🥲🥲
Did i just see a bald patch on xabi's head?
Impossible, the man is perfection
Nah, i swear there is a lesser dense patch on his head
Yes, you did. He is human after all.
Congratulations Bayer Neverkusen!
I want to see a golden plate for them, it’s historic and for their first title, it’s truly up there as one of the greatest football achievements I’ve seen!
Two games left for that immortal season, if they win it all then I’m genuinely placing their season as up there with Barcelona and Man United’s treble because they did it while being undefeated. It’s hard enough to win games at the elite level, and even harder to sustain that throughout the entire season.
Congratulations leverkusen fans
Let’s all consider the fact that Niklas Lomb has now won more titles than Harry Kane
Wait why are they playing Land of Hope and Glory?
Do you mean Edgar Elgar's Pomp and Circumstances ? That's because it's a march written for, well, pomps and coronations so it's very fitting and often used for ceremonies like trophies, medals or diplomas
I did not know the original was by Elgar. Every day's a school day. Thanks.
Exactly my thoughts! Anyway, congrats Leverkusen. Incredible achievement.
Congratulations!
Nature is healing
for a second I was like "wtf the Macho Man is coming?"
