Where is Saskatoon?

Just a heads up on why you’re possibly seeing this as a recommend community: BHP opened up a regional office in Saskatoon a couple years ago, and they are currently in a hiring blitz as they open up their first potash mine in North America. As a result, they have been bringing in a considerable number of workers from Australia to Saskatoon. I know they are advertising the move. If you walk around downtown Saskatoon right now and talk to random strangers, there’s a fair chance that you’ll find an Australian accent.

It is central of Canada located in the province of Saskatchewan which is known as the ‘prairies’ of Canada as there’s not any mountains or much to see really but flat lands of wheats.

I think it keeps showing you Saskatoon because the City is the world head office of BHP (Australian Conglomerate) for their Potash division.

It's a city in Saskatchewan, a Canadian province. Somewhat west of central. Parts of the province looks much like the Nullarbor, in that the roads are straight, & there's not much to look at, aside from crops.

Where in SA? We (a family from Saskatoon) spent some time in Adelaide, exploring the Adelaide Hills and surrounding area just before last Christmas. Spent 5 weeks in Australia, between Adelaide and Melbourne, then all the way up the coast from Wollongong to Cairns. Adelaide area was one of our favorites!!!

Just saw an article on Gow Lake in Saskatchewan. It's an impact crater similar to ones in Australia. Some Australian researchers are involved, so there's another connection.

Just to add to what others are saying, it's a pretty sparsely populated part of Canada. Saskatoon is about 270k people, the nearest center of a million people is about 500 km away in the next province over.

Well, Saskatoon is a prairie city located in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It's one of the higher populated cities in this province and is pretty popular as far as Saskatchewan cities go.

Last I heard we had more restaurants per capita than anywhere else in the country- so we like food. We've got lots of bridges as a rover runs through our city. Lots of art, food and festivals in the hot months.

As to why you're getting our subreddit, I have no idea how or why you're seeing it. I hope you're not entirely unhappy about it haha.

I have lived (and worked) in Saskatoon for over twenty years and unfortunately the last ten years has seen a significant increase in gang, drug violence especially in the urban communities. I live on Avenue H and have had half a dozen times in the last five years someone has broken into my house unfortunately I have not been home during the break ins. I am a Veteran who has a restricted firearm license and I will defend my wife, daughter or anyone else I feel is in danger in my dwelling.

It's basically the dirty navel of Saskatchewan.

There used to be glass tiles in the sidewalk downtown to let the light in to the tunnels, think those are gone now.

I just have to add that there is an article in National geographic about the city which is considered the Paris in the Prairies. It boasts a world class art gallery. A beautiful river runs through it. And is often called the city of bridges. Come in the summer and take in a number of festivals. Though already nice downtown is getting an overhaul❤️
