Ghost of Tsushima Becomes the 2nd Most Played Playstaion PC Game Beating God of War despite not releasing in 180 countries
DiscussionIf they follow the same pattern as with Ratchet and Clank, it'll be 20% off in November.
If you’re going to buy the game, is it really worth waiting an extra 6 months just to save 5%?
You get the same experience either way so why not wait
Plus wait for them to fix bugs. Nixxes does fantastic job though
They are a great studio for these Sony PC ports. Biggest issue I’ve had was the god awful broken HDR in Horizon Zero Dawn.
That and Horizon Zero Dawn on PC just straight up crashing after you played for an hour on launch.
Same can be said for waiting for it to go 75% off if you don’t mind waiting 2 years.
The game is £50 so with a 15% discount you’d pay £42.50, if you waited 6 months for 20% off you’d pay £40. If I wanted to play a game I’d much rather pay £2.50 more to have access 6 months earlier.
True but it does give us time to attempt to make a dent in the massive backlog of games I've bought but yet to fully play.
Not if you do that with most games you want to play
Where are you getting the 15% discount from?
I also grab a free copy at r/p*****games
If you can’t work out how to get your hands on the treasure, it’s probably not safe for you to sail the seas.
bro collecting malware like pokemon cards
The kraken will only attack the ones with skull issue
not yet little timmy
You can get 15% off ATM if you qualify for it buying via Greenman gaming. Cost me 76 cnd after that.
The game was cracked right away you can download it for free right now lol
I got it on ps5. Is alright. A sale is the best way to go. Definitely a decent £30 experience wouldnt want to pay more then that
I have never understood the level of praise it got.
It’s a beautiful game but once you take away the stunning visuals it’s, 6-8 hours of decent sorry with 30 hours of padding and shallow but flashy combat.
Doesnt help that coming into the game i was gonna compare its combat to sekiro, which imo is the best parry based combat game
Agreed. I came to it from getting platinum trophy on every souls game on PlayStation. Parry windows felt as wide as barn doors, even on lethal difficulty, it just felt extremely easy.
I think what settled it for me was I did the entire game blitzing the story for a trophy in a few hours. So little of the game is needed.
I think its a game of cool concepts just needed more time being developed into full ideas before being made to a game.
See people, somebody will always buy. What ever happened to the "Sony boycott"? It barely made any dent, and Sony knows it.
Because most don't care, most people with the money and spending power do not live in those 150 countries.
Yeap. I don't know why it is so hard for lots of redditors to realize. Sony executives are not bunch of kids who don't know their own demographics. Also pirating is almost none compared to the countries Sony didn't released the game.
Too many people see the world so black n white unfortunately.
just saying but the most popular torrent has been downloaded 200k times. That is not including the multiple other versions on torrent also up.
I'm pretty sure one of the reasons they don't release in those territories is because of piracy being rampant because people are poor/their money is worthless on the global stage. Hell cdpr, now somewhat beloved dev, used to be a pirating house because poles didn't buy games
The biggest gaming markets are China and the us, then Europe, the UK and Japan. Then literally everywhere not those places. Russia has a big gaming scene but they're sanctioned so it gets complicated
Also most people don't use Reddit, or even follow gaming media as a whole frankly, and the actual news doesn't report on the internal gripes of people here who don't know what they're on about
Most people outside the Reddit echo chamber genuinely couldn't care less about it.
Is my country on the 'available' list? Can't see because of my eye patch
Guess Sony didn’t need those countries after all
They probably make up about 5-10% of players, if even so makes sense.
I don't think any company would be particularly happy about losing 5-10% of their customers
Sony is for whatever reason. Probably the regulatory overhead of working with the extra laws and currencies.
I don't think they really anticipated what a mess the PSN requirement would create. they came up with a last minute solution, but I doubt they're happy about it. they had Steam auto-refunding pre-purchases in these countries. that's money going in the wrong direction
I mean why wouldn't they support the Baltic republics then? They're in the EU and use the euro.
Could be a number of things, but my guess falls on local regulatory issues — or simply poor purchasing power (it's not worth the investment of localisation, providing support etc).
Probably worth it to normalize mandating PSN accounts, that’s obviously a priority for them going forward ..
PSN is only required for the multiplayer mode (and overlay), that most people won't touch. when the Helldivers 2 mess started, they were quick to point out that PSN was optional for GoT. they were just blind sided by all the regional issues
Russia only before 2022 was 6 percent of the whole steam income. Don’t underestimate pc gaming in poor countries.
My take? People were saying GoT would flop and get review bombed due to the restrictions. Like I said, Sony apparently didn’t need those countries to have a successful launch. I’m not a shareholder. I’m stating facts just like the article. Are you some angry Sony hater that can’t stand they had another successful launch on PC?
My take? People were saying GoT would flop and get review bombed due to the restrictions.
I mean, they cant exactly get reviews from the affected countries since they cant buy it in the first place and majority of people from other regions will never know about and a lot of those who do are not guaranteed, nor have a reason to care.
Well we know that and we also know that all these people who are unaffected but cried about the region blocking and boycotting Sony didn’t do that. The sales numbers back that up and reviews are great. I’m not trying to get into a Pissing match here.
If I had a 4060ti I would be angry too :(
The game is a damn masterpiece for people that wanted to play as a samurai so I’m not suprised
I was blown away playing it for the first time on my ps4 back in 2020
Is the story any good? I picture extremely similar to your average ubisoft game, I played ac odyssey fairly recently so idunno, I'm still a bit burnt out on that formula. Does it feel any different?
Not sure why you are getting downvoted for a genuine question/concern. In short, yes. The story is good. Truthfully, nothing to cry home about but the experience carries it. It’s definitely a samurai fantasy power trip.
Thanks man all good it don't bother me haha
Playing Ghost of Tsushima made me want these devs to be the ones developing AC: Valhalla. I mean I would be so happy for viking themed open world game on the same quallity level as GoT is.
I also think that despite some of the usual open world game issues, GoT is stil a lot more enjoyable than AC: Valhalla and story is also better. Oh and I far more prefer combat of GoT than the too easy one of AC.
I’ve got a back catalog…. First I gotta play horizon forbidden west, and then like a dragon infinite wealth. I will play this when it goes on sale.
A lot of the asian gamers flocked to this after the recent Assassins Creed controversy so I'm not surprised
Tbf most asians dont care about yasuke being the protagonist. Its just ghost of tsushima looked cool but I cant justify buying a ps5 just for one game. I also look forward to playing as yasuke too and a lot of comments in the japanese trailer looks like google translate in my opinion
Ootl, what’s the controversy?
New AC reveal is the only Aasassins Creed game to feature a protagonist that isn't from the region the game is based in/on. AC Unity is French, Sydicate British, Origins Egyptian ect.
New AC game is set in Samurai Japan, many asian people took this as an disrespectful as they feel it ignores the rich history of Japanese Samurai, as Ubisoft would rather focus on a highly disputed and some would say historically inaccurate children's story to design the main character around, as well as taking it as "AC Japan is the only game to not have a native protagonist, why do they hate the Japanese so much". Overall massive dumpster fire on the Asian community, trailer has 500k dislikes and many have since pointed out the convenient timing of Ghost of Tsushima PC release.
I've no clue how it's possible to piss off possibly the most respectful nation in the world but they managed to do exactly that.
Why are you dancing around the main reason is controversial: it features a black and woman protagonist.
Personally, I don’t care but people are mainly mad because of this.
Are these disrespected Asians in the room with us right now?
Read the comments on the trailer, specifically the ones in Japanese.
I hope he enjoys the game, I personally don't care as I don't play new AC games but the amount of dislikes on the video would suggest the overall opinion.
Lets not kid ourselves those "dislikes" on the Japanese video is obviously right wing terminally online twitter Americans giving it a dislike and parading other people on twitter to go and dislike it, there are 10 50k likes posts saying to go and dislike the Japanese trailer, and 90% of those Japanese comments are obvious google translate.
Reminder that Ezio is in Istanbul in Revelations and both Adewale and Edward are from the British Isles.
AC Japan's protagonist is black African.
They're basing it off the fact that by the Age of Exploration, a black African in Japan is plausible enough.
2 playable protagonists, the other is a Japanese female
iirc several asian gaming outlets praised GoS as being really authentic as well.
Its like AC but not AC with ubi crap on it and better imo(combat feels satisfying)
Wish devs behind Tsushima made similar game but with Vikings. That would make AC: Valhalla look like indie game.
I am on the Sony hate train as much as the next guy, when I first played the game on the PS5 on PS+ for an hour, I immediately knew that this was a game I was buying on PC no matter what.
Fine, I'll ask.
What was #1?
helldrivers 2
I think being able to run smoothly on lower end hardware is one of a key factor compared with god of war or the horizon series. I'm able to run at stable 144 fps with my 3060. I don't remember playing any less than 5 years old AAA games being able to achieve such frame rates.
誉ゲー
It's the same reason games like WoW will never die, no matter what Acti Blizz does.
Wait until FfVII Rebirth comes out.
Not a sony game tho
Wait until FfVII Rebirth comes out.
Knowing SE, it will most likely come with Denuvo malware.
I wonder if it will do better dunno
I have to admit, not what I expected. It’s gorgeous but really just a pretty piece of paint over a boring repetitive combat system and dull story.
Dough Show!
Could have been number 1 or break benchmarks if no purchase restrictions exist.
I still fail to see how they want more money and yet restrict half of the world.
Good. I want more sony exclusives on PC and i couldn't care less if they dont sell them anywhere at all except the US. Im a selfish dude.
The game looks good, people will play.
I will grab the game when it's on sale r/patientgamers
