This so terrible reporting and a fear mongering headline. None of these animals tested positive this year related to the most recent outbreak, which is what it sounds like from the headline and subhead. While it is good to be mindful and know what to watch for, this kind of reporting is not totally helpful from a public health perspective.
“Four skunks tested positive in Columbia County in December 2022 and two in Crook County in January 2023. The raccoon was in Curry County (January 2023), the American marten in Douglas County (February 2023) and the red fox in Wallowa County (May 2023).”
I guess only be concerned if you’re in or around those counties.
