Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review had a Hart ballot this year of:

  1. Hellebuyck
  2. Pastrnak
  3. Panarin
  4. Kucherov
  5. Josi

Beyond the absurdity of having 1 of the top 4 (MacKinnon, Kucherov, McDavid, Matthews) on his ballot at all, and even then that player was in 4th, he’s also been voting in a similar way for years.

This marks the 5th time in the last 7 years (since the PHWA began making all ballots transparent) that he left McDavid off of his top 5 ballot.

The only years he didn’t were 2021 where he had McDavid #1 when he put up 105 points in the 56 game season (and all 100 voters gave McDavid a 1st-place vote to win unanimously), and then in 2023 when McDavid had his 150-point year, he was the only voter out of 196 to not give McDavid a 1st-place vote, instead giving him a 5th place vote (his ballot was Pastrnak, Robertson, Sorokin, Tkachuk, McDavid).

Some other unusual voting history (https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/14kkm75/comment/jpr4lve/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button):

2018: he was the only voter (out of 164) to give William Karlsson a 1st place vote

2019: he was one of two voters (out of 171) to give Johnny Gaudreau a 1st place vote

2020: he was the only voter (out of 170) to vote for John Carlson in the top three (two more voters ranked him fifth)

2021: he was the only voter (out of 100) to vote for Jonathan Huberdeau (he gave him a 3rd place vote), and one of two voters to vote for Patrick Kane

2022: he was one of two voters (out of 195) to give Kirill Kaprizov a 1st place vote; and he was the only person to vote for JT Miller
