The last name "Anderson" is relevant to my family history. I'd like to honor that name in a future son by calling him "Anders" or "Ander".

I'm from the Midwest. How would you pronounce this name?

I imagine most would say /An/der(s) as in c/an/ (can). Is this different from how it's supposed to be pronounced elsewhere?

I like Andy as a nickname.

Would it give you pause if you encountered this name or strike you as weird? Do you know anyone by the same name? Are there any similar names you think would work better?

Thanks
