‘The Fantastic Four’: Natasha Lyonne Latest To Join Ensemble Of Marvel Studios Movie
NewsThat makes the most sense.
I’m excited for a good Malkovich villain again
Malkovillain
Me too!
Well, unfortunately Marvel has a track record of wasting amazing actors on boring, forgettable villians. Mickey Rourke, Christopher Eccleston, Mads Mikkelsen, Christian Bale… I really am hoping for the best, but I won’t get my expectations too high.
Did good with Keaton, Kurt, and Brolin though.
They have 30+ projects. Marvel has a range of bad guys from awful to iconic. To say Marvel has a consistent record of ruining bad guys is not fair.
Which is funny since she already played a blind character in a Marvel movie. Blade Trinity
I just rewatched it a couple of days back! It's still pretty bad. Fun seeing her in it though.
Right away I thought she would Alicia, hadn’t thought of Malkovovich as Puppet Master even though I heard he was cast in the movie. How did I not?? He looks JUST LIKE HIM! Good call, bravo to you
BRAVO u/Su_Impact 👏👏👏
The cast is really shaping up so nicely. Everything about the quality of this entire ensemble signals real actual standalone heavy hitter movie and not just some off the conveyer edition marvel film.
Every announcement is getting me that much more excited for this.
Agreed, it will be the first movie where Feige has full control again. As he said, he won't have to put all his decisions through committee. Like the last 5 years.
I hope that turns out to be Thunderbolts to some extent too. Such a great cast but they need to make it fantastic for the general audience to care about these characters.
Agreed, I how he can do with this like he did Iron Man, he has a way to makw supee heros human. Hope he still has that magic
What committee? Do you know where i can read more about this somewhere?
There was a committee but it was disbanded years ago. Poor quality of recent Marvel movies is on Feige, it feels like he has given up and no longer cares about MCU.
This is what I was aware of, too. The creative committee was disbanded before phase 3.
I think the problem with phase 4 was that Feige was stretched too thin with too many projects.
The pipeline should be streamlined so Fiege can focus fully.
Between Ebon & Pedro in this, I'm really hoping that there's some genuinely funny dysfunctional bickering that recaptures some vibes of the GOTG crew
Say what you want about the MCU, but they rarely miss with their casting.
God, this would make me unbelievably happy. As soon as I saw the casting I knew she had to be Alicia. Fingers crossed we get Malkovich Puppet Master.
Dang, good call.
She’d make a great Medusa too.
They’re not doing Inhumans ever again.
Now that Marvel owns mutants again they don’t need to.
That’s all that was, trying to have “mutants” without saying the M word.
makes a lot of sense. And any movie or show is better with Natasha Lyonne in it. Looking forward!
"Ey, Galactus, ya great big pain in my tuchus, get outta hee-yah! I'm tryin' to have a conversation wit my stretchy friend!"
Loved her in Ballmastrz:9009
Alicia?
Annihilus
Mole Man
I know people whine about gender swaps but here me out…
… no no keep talking
Dr Doom
Psycho Mantis?
A Hind D?!
It's a box!
This is my hope.
I think she would make a great H.E.R.B.I.E the robot
My first thought for some reason!
It’s the contrast of her voice and how you think that jetsons looking robot should talk
Shit now I want to see an original series about the origins of Rosie the Robot.
The DC book did that. She's the brain patterns of George's mom.
The voice of HERBIE would be good but I wouldn't be surprised if she plays Alicia Masters.
That makes the most sense. She has red hair and is a similar age to ebon moss-bachrach, who is playing the thing
Make Malcovich Puppet Master and you are gonna have some spotlight stealing scenes between the two.
Wait, cast someone with red hair to play a character with red hair? Is that legal?
If it’s not gonna be Griffin Newman I’ll gladly take her
Personally would pick mc chris
I'll take Griffin or nothing. NOTHING
Galactus. What a concept
Tim robinson is the only acceptable choice
This world is so fuckin’ fucked up.
I want to see herbie recount meeting a moloid for the first time lmao.
"Cause I saw that thing. That thing came in here while I was on the couch"
“For fifty seconds I thought that thing was real!”
I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA GET EATEN!
I also don't know how I've only just thought of "the moloid maniac" lmao
There's too much fucking shit on me. I don't even want to be around any more.
seethes in awkwafina
I mean, she’s already IN the mcu. (I had no idea who she was, but she was the absolute highlight for me in Shang Chi! )
We are blessed to be living in such a time where we get 2 raspy voiced debutantes to grace us with their hoarse splendor.
I genuinely never realized until just now how much Awkwafina actually does sound like Natasha Lyonne.
Macy Gray has entered the chat
Marge simpson grumbles
Docta Doom
I hope it’s an hour and half of Natasha sitting on a couch just telling us a story about the FF with a cigarette in one hand and a glass of whiskey in the other.
And she does that playing the role of Aunt Petunia lol
I would be absolutely riveted, no lie.
Edit - The more I think about it, the madder I am that this isn't what it is.
A single NYC citizen giving their personal take on some weird MCU cataclysm coming down around them could be a really weird offbeat take worth experimenting with.
She’s telling it to Luis from Ant Man and the MCU just turns into them taking turns telling stories 😂
I'd watch that.
Hello, I’ve been pushing the “buy ticket” button for about 20 minutes and nothing seems to be happening, can you please help?
That's better than what they've been putting out recently.
Missed opportunity of a Disney Plus short special featuring the insight of Luis
Luis doing ten minute summaries of every movie to date would have just be a big money printer for Disney.....
I would kill for a sort of documentary style retrospective style piece on all the events of the last 10 years of the MCU. It should be done in the style of The World At War, the great British documentary on WW2 made in the 1970s', which interviewed all the aides and assistants of great and terrible men, plus various survivors of the conflict from all nations.
It'd be great fun, and there would be hardly any need for CGI.
Go one better. An inquiry.
Each section of the movie we hear from a different witness. But the viewer is strategically missing parts of the overall plot of what actually took place. We learn from the witnesses even though the people conducting the inquiry already have a better idea than we do. Cut in with flashbacks to what happened.
But MCU is way too ham fisted for that. The only way they know how to do government is "dumb evil senator bad asks stupid loaded questions."
There's an Alex Ross comic that is sort of like that. Although I really like your idea and you take it in this cinematic direction.
"Marvels" is main MCU events, like Namor or the Green Goblin killing Gwen Stacy. But they are shown from the point of view of innocent bystanders with limited info. Really cool idea and a good read.
They should adapt that.
Liberally sprinkled with “Ehhhh”s and “Knowhatimean”s.
I haven't seen her in anything that I can recall, but she was on Conan's podcast recently and she knows how to tell a story. Would watch
Huge filmography going back to 1986, 133 credits. Most know her from American Pie, But I'm a Cheerleader, Orange is the New Black, and most recently Russian Doll and Poker Face. She's been around ~40 years and had a few issues (dui, rehab, fully recovered) but for the most part has dozens of friends across the industry, down to earth, and well liked.
She was pretty funny in the opening of Scary Movie 2.
"You suck."
pees a ton
“She’s good!”
"She's been really sick"
starts beating with newspaper
You just blew my fucking mind
Russian Doll season one is reaaaaally good. A bit weird so may not be your style but I'd give it a shot. Season 2 is also really good but may be less accessible than the first season.
Poker Face was fantastic.
Cannot wait for the second season and see Paul Reubens one last time on screen.
Haven't seen it yet, it's going on the list. Thank you!
Russian Doll S1 is something else. It took a few episodes to sink its teeth into me but I really do think it's a masterpiece, and if you like listening to her tell a story you'll love it.
I can't speak to S2 because I'm a little afraid to watch it, S1 was such a perfectly formed gem.
Personally I don't think Season 2 was anywhere near as good as Season 1.
It's much different but I still liked it. Annie Murphy and Chloe Sevigny both killed it along with Natashia.
Ha. I watched season 1 and then when 2 came around I wasn't ready so I watched 1 again. I'll get to it!
You don't need to watch S2. It was...just fine.
I find these superhero movies are not getting better, or they just sandwich a shitload of people in them.
I would watch this instead without hesitation.
This is such a Reddit comment my god lol
But she’s a cheerleader!
You think they think what you’re thinking but they’re not.
Now THIS would be an inspired choice for H.E.R.B.I.E
Yes! Love it! Don’t care who she plays just happy to see Natasha in anything.
Very likely Alicia Masters. A perfect pairing of her gravelly voice with Ben Grimm's gravelly exterior.
My bet is on Sharon Ventura.
Or DOOM!
Or Spider-Man
Hopefully the role is worthy of Natasha. No hate to the character of Alicia Masters, but the girlfriend of Ben Grimm is not the kind of role you give to Natasha Lyonne, unless they make her character more interesting.
I have a feeling it'll be a paycheck role, but will have a tender scene that'll involve her accepting Ben both before and after the incident.
Still happy to see her on screen regardless of the role. But I want something real fun for Natasha. But I’m sure her personality alone could elevate a role like that anyways, make it more memorable than it has any right to be.
She's got the perfect personality for Ben Grimm, once you put all the rocks on then who can tell?
She was cast because of her gravelly voice
Right? Idk what it is but she’s such a babe. Maybe it’s the voice
I could see her being either Alicia or H.E.R.B.I.E. given her distinctive voice.
She’s going to voice Galactus!
"Ehhhhhh, I'm Sue Storm, ya know. Ehhh, I got this thing where I turn invisible and stuff."
She is the love of my life
We finally have casting for Doctor Doom!
Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben) was born in 1977. Natasha Lyonne was born in in 1979. That makes her a good age to plan Ben's love interest.
She's not a blonde like the comics version of Alicia Masters, but neither was Kerry Washington (who did a good job with what she was given to work with).
She's not a bad Doom
Victoria von Doom
She has red hair. Medusa has red hair. Medusa and in the Inhumans confirmed!
We already did the Inhumans. It didn’t go well.
It wasn't done well.
She has red hair. Jean Grey has read hair. The Phoenix and the Shi’ar Empire cameo confirmed!
Nah, they shit the bed with that already, then they had the nerve to have Medusas hair get cut off as a plot point in the first episode, when we really knew they didnt feel like animating her hair for the rest due to being cheap
This one is really coming together so far.
Hear me out, if they ever make a live action Magic School Bus movie, I want Natasha Lyonne to play Ms Frizzle
🤌🏻
Calling it: Willie Lumpkin
If she is playing Alicia, it would be the second time she’d be portraying a blind supporting character in a marvel film as she was Sommerfield in Blade: TRINITY.
Calling it, she's the doorman.
Who is she? Some kind of a Russian doll?
"I'm thinking I'm back" - Marvel
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I'm optimistic that this will be good but if you just look at the cast of Eternals, you'd think it would be the best Marvel movie. Let's actually see these people in action before we declare Marvel is back
It gets a lot of undeserved hate, I really liked the eternals.
Would have been better as a show.
I am biased because the sound cut out in the theater about 90 minutes in when I saw it opening night so I had to go back and see it twice in a weekend. It is very slow on a rewatch. I didn't like it
I think it’s good. Not great but good. And better than some very recent entries.
Yeah, not saying it’s great, just enjoyable. I think it came at a time when we were all still riding high from endgame and had high expectations
Rob Stark felt bad so he flew himself into the sun
Yeah, because his name was Ikaris? Don’t you understand how fucking genius that was!? /s
Rob and Jon being in a live triangle with Sersi was like a GoT fanfic come to life.
"Where's he going? He's not gonna throw himself into the sun, is he? Oh, shit!"
I doubt it.
If this was the cast of an A24 movie, we'd be talking Oscars.
That's the way Thor: Love and Thunder worked out with its all-star cast!
With the exception of Bale and Crowe they were all legacy cast members.
“Oh, you guys liked the silly thor movie, alright, moar of that! Crank it to 11! Yee-haw! Screaming goats! Jealous weapons! Space canoes!”
As usual, the suits fail to realize why anything is a success or a failure. It’s all tea leaves and chicken innards.
The sad thing is you could see the movie had the bones to repeat the success of ragnarok. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I’ve always got the impression that Taika is that kid that gets a good honest laugh for something, and then just leans in harder and harder trying to get more of a reaction. Like kids at an adult party.
I had a thought that John Malkovitch could have been cast as Norrin Radd. Like, if the movie is set in the 60s, but then at the end Shalla Bal goes back to Zenn-La and he's aged, but she hasn't and they have a moment together.
But this seems like he's Philip Masters.
Boy my brain read her name as Natasha Leggero and I thought that was an odd pick lol
I hope she's the thing
Galactus.
Went to google images of her and Crystal immediately came to mine. Wonder if some more Inhumans will make it onto the movie.
No thanks
She'd be a gnarly Thing.
Why can't they make a good Fantastic Four movie? Is the plot inherently bad or something?
Is this the third or fourth iteration of Fantastic Four now?
Very cool. I am a big fan of hers.
Why is there such a hard on for fantastic four, it's flopped I think four times now.
Just once. Don't make this movie suck. And please don't tell us the origin again.
I would have been stoked for this like, 10 years ago.
Excellent actress. I dig her approach.
Please have her just talk in a normal voice, she’s become a little insufferable in recent years
People bitch about Ryan Reynolds playing himself and all his movies. It’s exactly the same with her.
A little?
Fantastic Four has proven to be box office poison, I hope she gets paid well...
Uhhh… hmm…
Marvel: “what if we tried making shitty movies for a few years?”
She is a one note actress. raspy note at that
What an interesting casting for Crystal from Inhumans
Missed opportunity to cast her as The Thing; Her voice is perfect.
Fingers crossed she'll be Sharon Ventura, you know, the Lady Thing.
Or, you know, Frankie Raye Nova. Palling around with The Surfer, looking for new planets and giving Galactus the business. I'm super in.
She's Galactus mocap
Bet you a million dollars she’s Alicia Masters. She’d be the perfect foil to The Thing
Don’t let me get my hopes up!
They should've hired her to be the voice of Galactus.
Galactus Lyonne: "Let's fuck this planet in the mouth."
Another marvel movie franchise I don’t particularly care for. I need more pictures of Spiderman!
Paint her blue! 🫐
There should be a limit to how many times you can reboot a series. This is seriously getting out of hand Disney!
4th times the charm? Another origin story for the fantastic 4 lmao
How many times does this have to fall on its face before they stop spending money on it…one never released, three released that bombed…
I have the biggest crush on this lady
Alicia Masters?
Mole man
I have hope as Kevin Feige said " it will be nice to make a movie that every decision doesn't need to go through committee again" . When talking about how excited he is to do this movie. I think this is going to be good and hopefully a soft reboot for Marvel. Just forget everything that basically happened the last few years and say Loki cleaned it up. Move on.
I remember the interview where she said she was hoping for an offer from marvel after the success of russian doll. The lesson is voice your dreams, kids!
Movie has a weird cast, idk how it's suppose to all mesh
Medusa?
I was so happy and surprised to see her role in Ad Astra. Last person I thought I'd see in a scifi movie.
Oof
the thing?
Aunt Petunia?
This is becoming an absolute banger of a cast
Alicia Masters. With John Malkovovich as her dad Puppetmaster.
