I'm done voting for old people after 2024

Man fuck the DNC. To be clear, fuck Trump too, but the debate was EMBARRASSING for Biden. Literally they both had low bars; Trump to not sound like a complete moron or jackass...which he failed at, and Biden to not look like a shambling corpse waiting to die....which he also failed at. But guess what? All the moderates and undecided are going to think Trump LOOKED stronger. Which, for undecided voters, is all that matters. This debate backfired hardcore against Biden, and is the DNC going to re-group, re-strategize and think "Hey, maybe we need to get Biden off the ticket...maybe he is too old"?

NOPE. They're going to keep his doddering old ass on the ticket when he looked and sounded senile, sick, and inches away from the graveyard, and they're going to lose. And when Trump re-takes the white house in 2025 we should all be FURIOUS that the DNC allowed this. This should not even be a contest given Trump's track record, but the DNC is going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

We should all be shaking our heads at what happened last night. Two old men who probably shouldn't even be allowed to drive, stumbling, wandering, and muttering incoherent nonsense on their way to the most powerful position in the world. Well I've had enough. I'm done. After this election, I'm no longer voting for anyone who's older the age of 65 on principle.

Biden and Trump aren't even Boomers...they're the Silent Generation. Boomers, on principle (not attitude) probably have a few years before they get to where the Silent Generation is now. But either way, they should be grooming Gen X and Millenial candidates to get ready to take their spots, and step aside peacefully. That's how systems are set up to last across generations. Here we have a handful of old privileged people squabbling for their personal power regardless of what the country needs.

It's sickening. Anyways, curious to see what other millenials (and Gen Xers) take on this is.

But across the board. Have to get younger people into local and state offices instead of just keeping incumbents. Then young people can get both experience and visibility.

Let's get them to simply show up on voting day to vote and all of these issues disappear. Young people vote at about 25% of eligibility. 80 year olds are 3-4x higher. So for every youth vote you have 4 people with their feet in the grave casting votes. It'll never change if that stat stays consistent (and it's very consistent).

And vote in all levels of elections including primaries. That is how you build the candidate pool you want for higher level positions.

It's that much easier for that disparity to occur when those younger people have to bust ass and work they don't get the day off to vote while a ton of boomers have already been retired for 5+ years so they have nothing better to do but to show up to vote on no "principle" other than D bad R good

You can make these arguments and excuses until you're blue in the face. The 50 years of data since 18 year olds could vote has been analyzed by behavioral scientists that know a lot more than you and me. Young people are apathetic and don't take an ownership role as voters. Older people do. Every generation this happens to. These same people, as they wise up with age, vote.

The good news in this is it is a choice. Young people can take over the future of the government easily. They just need to register to vote and turn out.

In 2020 they turned out at 50% which was way up from prior elections. And look what happened...the candidate that won was the one they overwhelmingly supported. And what did he do? He embarked on a student loan forgiveness crusade to pay it back. That's what voting is... we'll get you in and you get us back.

Again it just makes it that much easier to not vote when you don't have all the time in the world. If I just so happened to have voting day off and I got there in the morning and the line was already a mile long I'd probably say fuck it and leave. The average boomer who's been retired can literally sit all day without worry. Not being kept from anything, not needing to show proof to an employer to prove they went to vote or anything. It's not worth waiting in line all day for unless I'm gonna lose my income over it or I'm a retired boomer. Younger people will vote to some degree II promise you (or an attempt will at least be made) but you keep this same Trump v Biden Trump v Clinton nonsense from here to eternity you're gonna get as much enthusiasm as the last two elections held. It's just a fact. An inconvenient fact but a fact nonetheless

There are 29 states that have laws making employers pay pto to employees for voting. Also, just have it mailed to your house leave early one day to drop it off before work? Your arguments are weak.

Older people have far more free time to go stand in line and vote. Younger generations who have to work? Not so much… Going to vote usually means losing a day’s pay.
