my bad , i generalized a little , skateboarding is there in india , but it's extremely niche and usually only found in metropolitan cities
I am from India too, there's no way they got such benches here... Which state? Here in Delhi there are just normal seats at bus stops nothing like this... And honestly these don't even qualify as benches.
What about when an obviously 33 year old Shah Rukh Khan was skateboarding around highschool in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, wearing a necklace that said "COOL" on it?

it was never introduced here , there aren't skateboarding parks and skateboards come at a premium here . cycles are easy to come by , 2 wheelers are a huge method of transport here.
There's also not nearly as much pavement in India as in the US. We just pave over all the shit. We require buildings to have an obnoxious amount of parking in most states and have paved roads almost everywhere. Which probably led to the large skateboard/rollerblade/that-one-guy-with-a-razor-scooter culture here.

I have to disagree with you, man. I have friends who are into skateboarding, and we do have skateparks in different parts of the city.
But the fact is, those who are interested in skating are very rare here.
this depends on the city you're living in , im from a place called Calicut and here the skating community isn't really up and running , but more developed cities like kochi do have an avid skateboarding community.
