I did the same in my own bathroom. Haunts me.
My uncle owned an very succesful tile and marble company in So-cal. He started from the bottom so his pride in craftsmanship is high level. Some years ago he finally remodeled his old modest home. One of his longtime employees deliberately placed a hexagonal tile out of place in front of the toilet, so that every time my uncle took a shit he would see that crooked tile.
Why would he do that? Was your uncle disliked as an employer?
Not at all disliked. By all accounts he was well liked by his employee's, paid well, and made sure the business stayed busy and everyone got a chance to always be making money. But a good joke is a good joke. And that tile has been there over 20 years.
My husband had his addict brother (during one of his sober cycles) start on our second bathroom tile when we were redoing it. He was slightly off on aligning the tiles correctly early on and of course it gets worse the further you go. He did like half of one of the three walls before hubby checked on him. Hubby showed it to me and asked if he should redo it or leave it. I, knowing how my husband is, said “this is going to drive you bonkers forever every time you come in here. Just take it apart and redo it before it gets worse.”
Go downstairs and ask to transfer rooms
Take a picture of this monstrosity with you and simply show it to the front desk staff, I'm sure no explanation will be required

I don't think I have ever been in a hotel room that has good tile and finish work. It's atrocious but I get it - the contractor has to knock out a bunch of rooms per day so they really don't care

I too am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to tile placement. My dad recently did some 1 inch tile work in my sister's house... A little crooked all over. This really bugs me.

You all think tile work is straight-forward and easy. That's minor compared to.some.of the shit that goes on... Outstanding detective work on your part. Do you a wider pic to see if more than one section was affected? That's when it's a really poorly done job. This is ain't great but it's within reason for a hotel.
there were multiple tiles like the ones in the photo. not just one section.
Are you kidding? In my apartment the kitchen tiles are so screwy that I actually stubbed my toe on one of them. Have to wear shoes. I’m so not even joking.
