![What do I do? Mom found this kitten. It will be over 100F today, there are lots of stray cats and crows in the area, she heard it meowing for hours by pool equipment](https://preview.redd.it/mpff9ndd9q8d1.jpeg?auto=webp&s=b127a54eac6121e37a28935dd755fc4d51025e41)
Super tiny, I do not think his eyes are open, he’s so loud and I have never even had an adult cat before
Super tiny, I do not think his eyes are open, he’s so loud and I have never even had an adult cat before
I gave it kitten milk replacement. Has been meowing nonstop for the past 30 minutes now. Seems extremely reluctant to eat. Will stimulate. I did watch that video it was helpful
Get some gloves, and a few wet swabs, that kitty needs to relieve itself, and doesn’t have the full ability yet.
What do you mean by this? Gloves and wet swabs? Inability to relieve itself?
Kittens for the first few weeks don’t know how to go to the bathroom. Their mother licks their nether regions to stimulate that area, and then the kitten will relieve itself.
If you want to do exactly what their mama does, go ahead, but I think I will stick with what I said.
Dang, I thought human babies were a lot lol jk
I used a warm wet washcloth on my foster kitties. So weird but also funny
Just get a tissue or soft cloth and gently stimulate the genitals. It will yell and scream but do it anyway. I usually do this right after they’ve been fed as they are less frantic then. They should mostly pee almost every time and hopefully poop at least once a day. For a kitten this small I would say to bottle feed it it with kitten milk replacement every three hours
Please go watch some Kitten Lady videos on YouTube!!!
If it won't take a bottle with kitten milk use an eyedropper.
Don't..... this is terrible advice. You need to take it to a rescue. Very small kittens need to be tube fed. Using a dropper creates a very gigh risk of them aspirating and getting lung infections. I know the idea of raising a kitten is nice but the reality is complicated and required confidence and experience. Please take him/her to a rescue ASAP. It's the responsible selfless thing to do. Do what's best for the kitten.
I raised a less than 3 week old black kitten on kitten formula. It survived for 17 years & was a very healthy 10 lbs. With a newborn until you can get them to a shelter you do whatever you can do to keep them alive. This person wasn't an adult & needed help now!!
I uses a big syringe that i can press to get a little in their mouths. Its a good way to start. They absolutely cannot have to much to fast. If any comes out of their nose its too fast. At this age the littles bit at a time. Few drops.
Update: became very enthusiastic about drinking!
Fluids from a vet will save her life. I used to get them all the time for my Rothy who had kidney problems. They aren't expensive and the vet won't charge you for things without your saying yes first.
Yay, good job !!
Yes, dehydration is serious. Stimulate the anus for elimination.
Get it to a vet
What should i expect to happen at a vet visit? For the sake of this cat i will readily admit i am slightly tight on money but if it’s nothing out of hand im totally fine
If money is tight, check with local shelters and rescues to see if they have low cost vet services. It may be too soon to have really processed what’s happening, but if you’re not planning on permanently adopting the kitten but are able to raise it to an adoptable age, they might be able to work with you as a foster. It’s very time consuming and involves getting up in the middle of the night for frequent feedings, so if you’re leaning towards committing to raising this baby, please make sure you understand what’s involved.
But regardless of what happens from here on out, thank you for doing the compassionate thing and getting the baby in from outside!
Some vet colleges also have less expensive services as well.
THIS!! the vet college at purdue was the only reason my family could afford a life saving procedure for our dog, they're amazing and they saved us so much money!!
Excellent advice!
There might be a place with a nursing mother too! The baby could be integrated into a litter!
This is true! Good thinking!
that’s a newborn kitten like maybe 3 days old type newborn. if mama cat has not been back in hours the kitten is considered abandoned. the vet visit could go a multitude of ways. if you are not experienced with bottle feeding newborn kittens please reach out to a rescue or shelter
But a NO KILL SHELTER . Make absolutely sure about that if you take this baby to a shelter
YES this - a "nonviable" kitten, which this is, can get euthanized because of lack of foster availability.
honestly even with the best bottle foster this kitten may not even make it that long esp being left for hours without feeding. being left too long without food puts this kitten more at risk for fading kitten syndrome since newborn kittens need to be eating around every 2 hours. op did not specify how many hours as far as i’m aware but the heat def won’t help either
Agreed
No kills aren’t really no kill. They transfer to kill shelters. Not all, but many.
This is the case for Many ‘no kill’ orgs. They are full of shit when and pass animals to diff shelters to do their dirty work. At capacity they will just handball so they can still claim they’re a ‘no kill’ shelter. They should be made to disclose ALL their policies.
Shelters that call themselves "No-kill" can euthanize up to 10% of the animals and still deem themselves "No-kill". Many of these limited-admission shelters will not accept high-risk animals, so these animals end up at open admission shelters which then get labeled as "kill-shelters"
I cringe every time I hear someone talk about kill or no-kill shelters because it's not that simple.
if you need a helping hand with the vet cost, please reach out!
Kinda late to this, but me too.
Take it to an emergency vet and tell them it is an abandoned cat you found.
Kittens this small can go downhill real quick. Check to see if you have a rescue center that fosters kittens, they may also have a mother cat that will nurse it.
i don’t agree with this necessarily. find a rescue if you don’t intend on keeping it.
Its health is the first priority. It's no good contacting a rescue if it DIES first.
if OP can’t afford it, they can’t afford it. as someone who has worked rescue for many years….the rescue will triage and has basic supplies on hand like sub Q fluids, etc. they also have accounts with vets.
Yes, and vets have connections with them. You can go to the vet and get in contact with those people and resources.
Most rescues/rehabers I know aren't listed anywhere.
OP what is your location?
also contrary to popular belief, vets can’t take on every abandoned animal. vets have one of the highest rates of suicide for this reason. they make little pay and have big hearts.
A lot of the high suicide rate also comes from dealing with cruel and stupid animal abusers. Neglect is a form of abuse, and boy could any vet tell you some horror stories once they get a few drinks in them.
100% agree with that, it’s not a great job for young people with little to no experience with trauma or animal abuse. The 2nd hand trauma from just caring for an abused animal is a serious issue for many who work in animal care. Also long work hours and fatigue compounding mental strain.
Check out the kitten lady on YouTube. She’ll have you covered. Is this kitten dirty or skinny?
I think it is a bit dirty but not super. I don’t know if he’s thin, he’s rather fluffy in the literal sense. Right now he has stopped meowing for the past 10 minutes and seems to be having hiccups.
Burp him.
Literally this. Gotta burp the kitten.
CUTE (I think)
Strange as it may seem, kittens like human babies get air in their stomachs & need burping.
Poor little tyke. Keep us updated?
Will do. Will he meow if he doesn’t need anything? I fed him a bit ago (within the hour) and nothing happened when he was stimulated so I’ll wait till next feeding. Seems intent on napping in my other hand but will meow on occasion.
I tend to wait until they are pretty hungry when they are bottle feeders. (I posted that here once and apparently it did this weird translation where people read 'I starve kittens for fun.")
Because the risk of aspiration is so high, I like them really latched on to the nipple and sucking away. That happens if they're hungry. If they won't latch, I use a syringe with nipple and put a drop at a time on their tongue, you do not have that kind of control with a bottle.
edit - even though it's warm, the little guy needs some heat. For teeny ones I like to fill two regular water bottles with hot water. Tape them together. Put them on a heating pad and put blanket over them. The dip in between is where the baby will settle, that's why you tape the bottles together, so they don't roll and trap the baby. I have found that a heating pad will keep bottles filled with hot water at the perfect temperature. You always want to allow them a spot next to heat where they can crawl away of the get too warm.
Every single sentence here is important. Fantastic comment for OP to follow
OP i promise this will be so rewarding. One more thing though.... Feedings continue through the night. At this age is every 1-2 hours. Its tough. But you really cant miss a feeding. If you think you will, take it in to a vet or shelter. When you are feeling emotionally strong look up fading kitten syndrome.
Make sure they are lying on their stomachs when they eat. So many people lay tgem on their backs! They aspirate on their backs. Most of the timea kittens feed from monma while lting on their tummies.
He probably is very confused and misses mom. His biggest need it to be fed, burped, cleaned( feces & face) & kept warm.
They sleep all the time. That is fine. They might not pee right away because they have nothing in them.
just posted a new and final update shes at a rescue now <3
❤️
Is it normal for her to lick me so much? I am keeping her in my hand to keep her warm and as she’s doing this, she’s licking my hand a lot. I provide her bottle so that she can have a bit of milk but she doesn’t seem as interested in that just licking my hand instead. She had a good chug about an hour ago.
Pretty normal behavior, she’s probably trying to find familiar surfaces like mom’s belly or siblings’ fur. Her eyes are shut and she has little motor control so her tongue is the best method of exploring. I’d recommend keeping her warmer than just your hands, if you can get a heating pad or microwaveable thing, kittens can’t regulate their body temperature yet so she will get cold very easily. Some kitten rescue people even have incubators to put a whole litter inside if they have very many kittens
If you have a kitchen/food scale that measures in grams, zero it with a tupperware and put kitty inside to start recording her weight. Any weight loss at this early age is a big red flag, so keeping tabs on it at least daily starting asap is a good idea
When you can't keep her in your hand, you can wrap her up in something warm, and keep her in a pocket (like a coat pocket, not your jeans' pocket), I raised one like that.
Use an old toothbrush, slightly wet, to gently brush the hair on top of her head. Apparently it feels like Mama grooming them with her tongue. 🥰
Based on the description, the kitten is probably very dehydrated and will need fluids administered by a vet to survive. That isn't expensive.
This kitten is very young of course, so contact a vet and ask them for advice about your local options. A foster might be your best bet.
Hey OP, how is it going? It sounds like you got baby to toilet and drink which is wonderful! Well done you!! Do you need help finding resources in your area?
Cat seems fine! She likes to sleep, meow, snuggle, and is a bit finicky with her bottle. I’ll discuss what my family wants to do with the cat, but it will be someplace safe no matter what.
I’m so glad she found you!
Oh goodness, that sounds wonderful. Have you been stimulating it to pee/poop? Littles like this need assistance from mama or Mama Substitute.
Look up miracle nipples- the short one works well for bottle babies. I mix plain pedialyte instead of water with my milk replacer. Also, get a gram scale and weigh before and after feeds to make sure she’s getting enough food. I made a spreadsheet for my fosters so I can track weights/eliminations/etc. I also recommend tracking a low weight each day to make sure she’s gaining.
When she makes it to weaning, I really like the Royal Canin Mother/Baby cat ultra soft mousse- you can shake it up with formula and make a little slurry for the bottle, then gradually increase the canned food and move to a bowl (use a spoon to help her eat if needed during the transition.)
Thank you for looking out for and taking care of this teeny tiny baby. ❤️❤️🙏🏽
Keep an eye out for Mama kitty. She might have moved her litter and come back for this one. If you can, put out fresh clean water for her.
There are a LOT of stray cats in this area that come into the yard. It’s a homeless woman who has been feeding a whole colony for a decade and it’s dozens strong . Could I ensure the kitten’s safety?
Baby’s safety and wellbeing is paramount. ❤️ If Mama were to come around, would you be able to offer shelter for her? Even, an outdoor cat house?
How the hell would he know who is the momma?
Sorry but 😂
Mama will respond to her baby’s cries. And, recognize their scent.
Taking a gamble on that is foolish.
You need to keep the cat and keep it safe until you can get it to a rescue.
Calico and they are 99% girl I have one and they are simple the best super playful and love to cuddle. You are the chosen one chorpinecherisher
You’re right, hes a she!
We've got twin calico's! They're both great kitties 😻
It needs electrolytes before you put it on full formula. Otherwise it can get sick. Resorb is best but you can use plain pedialyte if necessary. Mix it 75 to 25 at first and gradually increase the formula ratio over a few feedings.
Wash hind end with slow gentle strokes from front to back until the kitten pees and poops. It make take a couple feedings if it's dehydrated.
If you have the funds you might want to take the kitten to the vet and have them do an exam and give it subq fluids and walk you through what you need to do.
You could also check with your local shelter or on Facebook for someone who has a nursing queen who would be willing to foster.
Immediately get some KMR, kitten milk replacer and a bottle and start feeding it. Pet stores should have both KMR and a set that includes a bottle, nipples, and a bottle brush.
Get the powdered KMR, as it’s way cheaper than the liquid that’s already mixed (that stuff won’t last you very long.
You need to rub its tummy gently with a damp wash cloth to get it to go potty. Babies that young can’t go potty on their own, mama cats lick their bellies to get them to release. -I’ve fostered a lot of kittens
I’ve tried for about a minute thrice so far. Nothing happened, does it need longer?
Stimulation is best done with a textured cloth, In an up and down or circular motion right on the genitals and anus.
If she was left for hours she is likely to be very dehydrated and may not urinate until her fluid levels are back to healthy.
She is very small, she will need to be fed every two hours around the clock.
Check her hydration by pinching the skin over her shoulder blades and watching how fast it goes back to normal. If it goes back right away she is well hydrated.
If she is dehydrated it will go back slowly, but at varying speeds based on how dehydrated she is. The slower it goes, the worse she is.
I would really recommend you take her to the vet and get her some sub q fluids. It's not very expensive, and they can give her a checkup to make sure she is healthy.
This stimulation advice worked! I had the wrong spot turns out
I’ll ask my mom about vet or getting her to a rescue today.
I am very glad it worked for you. I advise you stimulate her before and after feedings. Babies often won't eat well if their bladders are full.
Like she said right on the spots! It gets messy sometimes so prepare.
Wet cloth on the but hole. Gentlely. The mom usually licks it to make them bathroom. Tysm for taking care of it. Some people would ignore it
You need to rub their nether regions, not their bellies. You can use a damp paper towel
i would call a vet and ask about what to do as well, see if they can give you any important info
Not sure if anybody will see this update, but she lasted the night! Trying to get her to a rescue today.
Everything crossed for the precious baby, thank you for looking after it ❤️
Yay! Congratulations! Keep us updated, I'm so happy for her -- and you
I'm so happy!!!! 😆Please keep us posted or start a new update thread :)
Yay! Good luck! Just ask them all until someone says yes. 💜 Bottle babies need a lot of attention and are a lot of work. Not saying you can't do it, but you will be incredibly sleep deprived at best for like two months. This little one has a fighting spirit and we're all glad you're doing what's best for them 💜
Btw its a girl.
We found 2 that were a couple days old a couple years ago. Our local SPCA has free bottle feeding kits and we stocked up on milk replacement formula. It’s a lot of work to raise a tiny kitten. You also need to help them pee and poop after feeding. They eat a lot. It’s hard work, but very rewarding. My kittens are 2 now and they are very special to our family. Good luck
You have been chosen. You do everything you can to save this kitty.
Don't feel pressure to keep this kitten. It's just like having a newborn human...it a lot of work & time involved
Saving it by taking the kitten to someone who can find a home for it still counts as saving! If you found an abandoned human baby and took it to a hospital, no one would say you didn't save it because you didn't raise it as your own. Just my two cents.
That’s a bottle baby, little one needs milk and pretty intense care. If you’ve never hand-reared a kitten or even owned a cat at all, I would not try it, it’s not easy at all and to be blunt, it will probably die if you do.
Get this little one to a shelter, they will be able to provide proper care and find a home for it when it’s old enough. Plus, most shelters will not make you pay a fee to drop an animal off and surrender it completely if you just found it and it isn’t yours, I know from experience.
Way too young to not have him momma. Kitten milk replacement fed through a dropper every few hours. If you keep him, I’d suggest not ever using your hands as toys. I learned that the hard way. Good luck! Keep us posted!
You mentioned you found this kitten in a nearby colony of feral/stray cats that are being fed by a homeless woman… Once you get everything sorted out with how to take care of this kitten (#1 priority!) reach out to the local humane society and cat rescue organizations about dealing with the cat colony. By “dealing with” I mean working on trapping, spay/neutering, vaccinating, then returning the cats to the location. The cats will have their ear notched to signal they have been fixed/vaxxed. This will keep the existing colony from growing due to out of control breeding, allow the current cats to humanely live out their remaining lives, and research shows that a (fixed) feral cat colony is extremely territorial so they will keep new (unfixed) cats from joining and increasing the colony size in the future.
This cat wasn’t in the area of the colony, but only close by. Efforts have been made over the past decade to stop this person from feeding them (before they were homeless, they had a hoarder situation involving cats) and take measures against the colony but to no avail. Resources are quite limited in my town unfortunately:(
Post about her on r/rescuecats and ask for donations if needed but this baby needs a vet ASAP! People will help you, I'm sure! Post a link here after you upload and so we can all give the post a boost over on rescue cats. Also post on r/cats This baby looks like a calico, so probably a female. I'm guessing there's a sub for calicos... try r/calicos as well?
You need to buy some kitten replacement milk and a kitten bottle. Walmart carries these, as well as big box petfood stores. Start it as fast as you possible can. Get a oral syringe at the same time. If it won't take a bottle, use the syringe. Only squeeze a tiny amount at one time. Feed it every 4 hours, all day and all night long. Put it in a small box inside your place. Watch Kitten Lady videos on youtube for instructions.
Get to vet.
Watch YouTube videos from The Kitten Lady
Reach out to shelters or rescues for help. This is a very small baby and can go south quickly.
Cat distribution mechanism has chosen you to be this kittens human.....
The kitten is yours now!
Baby needs formula. Too young, will have to be fed by bottle if no surrogate mama will take it in. Getnto vet. Baby won't last long.
And don’t let the vet say it’s better to put it down. Anyone can bottle feed with a little help……you got this and this baby will be a love you never knew!!

Kitten milk replacement!
Check out Kittenlady on YouTube… she specializes in raising stray kittens and provides a wealth of knowledge on pretty much all things related to orphan kittens (bottle babies).
She also has a website.
Srsly check her out, she has all the answers you’re looking for as far as care.
Poor baby need vet care
keep and name s’more
How is the baby oreo doing?
She’s alright, if a bit of a finicky eater. Someone else will be looking after them for the night because I need to be up relatively early. They are going to go to a rescue tomorrow hopefully
Find a rescue. They will pay costs and be able to bottle feed every 2 hours or so. They can rapidly get them vet care too.
You’ve just been chosen! How lucky! Now feed her some kitten food and buy a good little box! Get her vaccinated. You are a cat parent now!
Talk to a rescue immediately. That kitten needs veterinary support and intensive caring.
Keep baby
She’s hungry 🤤 and calling to her momma. I’d say get a bottle and formula from your local pet store, vet appointment, and keep her. (Assuming her because looks like a tortie)
Where are you located
Newborn kitten. Find someone who knows how to bottle feed it with kitten formula or goats milk no human formula or cows milk( they have lactose) or give it to a shelter thar can do that. I have done it(less than 3 week old kitten I found) it needs to eat about every 2 hrs & cuddled to keep warm. It's a big job.
Please take this kitty inside a cool place! Needs bottle feeding to survive 🙏
Alley Cat Organization website lists rescues for feral and nonferal cats in each state.
Young kittens also need to be kept warm when they sleep since they can't regulate their body heat yet. A thick sock filled with raw rice heated 60 seconds in the microwave, so it's warm, not hot hot, to be put with the baby when she/he sleeps.
It can be a bit nerve racking to get her to eat but stay with it and try to get some fluids in her as much as you can so she doesn’t get dehydrated. If you know anyone with a nursing litter that would be ideal. I’ve had to do it with a runt and thank goodness she took her in like she was her own baby. Good luck with your little one.
Get a syringe for feeding or a small bottle. Make formula or buy pre mixed. They need to eat like every 3-4 hours then be stimulated to pee. Kitten lady on YouTube knows everything. Keep a journal of how much they eat and when. Weigh them every feeding and track the growth. You have a long time in front of you. Help that baby or take it to someone who can. Good luck, please update us.
Can we get an update pls? Is the baby okay?
She’s doing great rn
Yayyy. Thank you so much!! God bless you
You got chosen by the CDS. Call a vet and start stocking on supplies. There are small feeding syringes and fluids (pedialyte, as suggested by u/adastra2021, including "calling the mom back" with the mewing). If you brush the fur on the cat with a cloth and keep it with the phone, you may have better luck. If no one returns, you're the mom now.
When I've found them alone without a mother, it's likely that the mom had to relocate and the weakest of the brood failed to keep up. They are usually very diligent unless the kitten has a defect or there is danger requiring hard choices. Take as much care as you can, but from experience, protect your heart. These are high risk of loss scenarios. We had Vassili for 2 days and I still think about him.
Looks like you have a new cat.
Also, never feed a cold kitten. Get a heating pad and place it under a blanket. Leave enough room where the kitten can escape the heat if need be.
Take him inside best you can do a vet visit they'll probably give a little guy a basic check up give him fluids cuz he's probably been out there for hours with no milk check for herpes, eye infections or any illnesses. Usually mama cats will abandon kittens for a reason usually they're sick or too small to take care of. However since You said money's tight. Sometimes shelters and rescues have low cost of vet service or you can always just go out and get kitten formula and bottle feed him every 3 hours that includes waking up every 3 hours at night to feed, and keep him comfortable And if he doesn't make it then he didn't die alone ina shed. If he does then great, You can always give them to a no kill shelter as well but I always recommend fostering until adoption age And then giving him to a shelter they are more likely to get taken care of that way. I have a bottle fed cat that I found at an hour old And it's super important you try to socialize him with people and other cats as much as possible otherwise they turn into assholes and become very attached to you. DM me if you got any questions about raising a newborn kitten
Does the US just have stray cats roaming everywhere? I always see:
"Found this cat"
All the time on the internet. Cats cats everywhere.
It’s very common, but in this very weird case there’s a homeless woman who lives just behind my backyard who, despite being told not to, feeds a colony of cats on the daily. It’s very disruptive.
Are you in Australia? I hear they don’t have as many cats and that they are a lot stricter.
I am in the UK.. There are lots of cats but there doesn't seem to be a major issue.
You don't really hear about a load of kittens being left somewhere. You sometimes hear horrific stories of cats being put in plastic bags and chucked into the canal. That shit makes local news but it's rarely heard.
We have the Cats Protection League and the PDSA, here, that will provide care for cats if you find cats or miss your insurance payment or something.
I know it's another big responsibility but I would absolutely love to find some kittens on my way home.
I am sure someone here posted a picture of some cats that had been left. They were expensive Persian cats! You might be a heartless bastard to rid yourselves of some cats you decided you can't take care of, but you're a dumb bastard to abandon Persians when they will sell for decent money.
I don't know how people level with themselves after dumping cats. I hope it plays on their mind every night before they go to sleep.
...also, it'd be good if it popped into their head whilst they were about to get naughty with their partner.
"It's not you. It's the cats."
"What?"
And then they have to tell the truth or lie about what you did in the past. The past is the past but discarding animals like they're last weeks newspaper is rum.
Poor baby needs a mommy
Take him to a humane society
I can't unsee the 2 sauces long kitten...
Gorgeous
Get the kitten to a vet
Thank you for caring and trying to do the best thing ❤️Please take it to a vet or shelter (not a kill shelter though!). Poor thing.
Vet asap and keep the baby.
Bring her I.
AHHHHHH i wish i could be its mommy!!!!
She probably associates licking your hand to nuzzling her mom
Adopt that bad boy!
You keep the kitten and take care of it and good karma will happen to you
Would milk in a rubber glove work to feed it?
check out the kitten lady on youtube! thanks for helping the little guy, he’s so small!
First, are you planning on keeping this baby? Off so, you need to check out Kitten Lady immediately so you know what care is needed. Be prepared to bottle feed every 2 hours, remember to wipe its butt so it’ll go to the bathroom, and help it stay warm. You’ll also need to pick up kitten formula - milk is not good for kittens.
https://www.kittenlady.org/kitten-care-all/#getting-started-all
If you don’t want to do all that (which is fine) reach out to your local animal rescues to see if they’ll take the kitten. Your vet may also take the kitten.
Please make sure u relieve it with a paper towel or toilet paper something!!
Oh that’s a newborn. Take her to the vet. She looks very weak.
Take care of it.
Needs to see a vet and call local cat rescue to see if they can help with this little bugs care.
Congrats on being chosen by the r/catdistributionsystem! She’s precious and I wish her all the best.
Get it to a shelter so it can join another litter asap
Keep a look out for mom, she is likely close by!
Thank you for saving! God bless your heart and if I could come take him to care for him i would.. I wish I could save all of them it’s too hot for these poor guys
Miracle nipples!!! Can get from Amazon. Was night & day for us when the CDS made sure 2, 8-day old kittens found us! Now they are 5 weeks and starting to ween to baby kitten food! It is HARD work, but those miracle nipples made a huge difference.
KEEP her & CARE for her till you can find someone to give her a “forever home”!!💖
OMG thank you for helping this sweet baby ❤️
Please have your mom go back to where she found the kitten. This baby looks plump and well-groomed; her mom is probably close by and looking for her baby.
Yes! The Kitten Lady is the best!!
When you feed wrap it in a towel and hold it upright! Kittens can aspirate and get sick easily. She should be drinking being held upright
How's the kitten now? 🐈
What a precious little bean 🥺
Oh, what a sweet little baby! ❤️🐈⬛ I'm so glad that your mom found this kitten. They only cry a lot if their needs are not being met, instinctually kittens do not cry at all when their mother is not around unless something is really wrong. Mom could have left the baby because she thought that she would not survive, or something bad could have happened to the Mom to prevent her from coming back to her babies. I would be vigilant about seeing if there are other kittens around.
You now have a cat
Take it in. Call a local cat charity to come and collect him/her. I’d try to find the mother and the other babies too, to keep them together.
I believe we have to reach out to animals these days as the weather is going to get them otherwise. I leave water out for any animals that want it, including at night time.
Take it in and call some local rescues. If you want to foster they will walk you through the process otherwise they can help you find placement.
bring this little nugget to a vet IMMEDIATELY. it's incredibly tiny, it shouldn't be this far from his mom!!
If you can, leave out some bowls of water for the other animals. Try and place them in shady areas so they get double reprieve, cool water and shade.
Vet and then car adoption fostering experts. It’s v easy to do the wrong thing and the kitten will die.
Keep warm, give him goat milk from a bottle (it is something given to kittens because unlike cow's milk they can take goat's milk). They need to be fed regularly. And yes, use a cotton ball and gently massage hher abdomen simulating licking to get her to poppy. Or use a very soft toothbrush head and gently do that. Cat tongues have barbs so the toothbrush will simulate that. Put her in a puppy pen you can buy on amazon - it big and has mesh around so he doesnt wonder off and hurt himself.
You need to take him to vet though. He needs to be examined, get dewormer and probably shots. If he has fleas he is likely anemic cause they eat him and he is so tiny. So yo need to give him a gentle bath. They are too small for actual flea meds. They have to reach a certain weight for that. But regardless, he has to be seen by a vet and tested for FIP and such. There are a ton of videos on how to take care of a newborn kitten. Remember they need to be fed every hour, even overnight.
I will say if you care for her and can keep her then you will be rewarded with a cat that completely adores you. I rescued one about the same age and he never leaves my side now
Take it to either a shelter or buy formula. They have cat formula
It’s needs help.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned her, the Kitten Lady on YouTube has some incredible tutorials!!!
Also he is probably she- I think I’m looking at a calico kitten!!
adopt. get cat milk. water. adopt.
Yall got this...lol.
That’s your cat now broh. hits blunt
take him home and name him poolie-g😍
Bring to vet
Did you keep it?
There’s a good chance she will be going to a rescue but for the time being she is still with me
looking at him I'd say he is only a few days old, and should still be nursing
you're gonna have a lot of work taking care of them and helping them to grow, but I promise you it will be worth it!
You just adopted a kitty!! Nice job
How is the kitty doing?
It worries me when they stop crying (I foster exclusively bottle babies) It probably needs fluids ASAP, you can give them pedialyte until you can get formula. Pedialyte is at any grocery store or 7-11. Check the youtubes suggested on how to feed.
In the meantime you can also pull up video of mewing kittens and set the phone down near the where you found it and see if mom doesn't come back.
