I, for one, love the Joker's color palette
I went from on the border of purple and green areas to not being colored in at all. I don't have power, so they haven't restored it
As the map shows, they’ve just given up
This is my least favorite type of gerrymandering
What’s your most favorite?
The kind where I post things to reddit from the comfort of an electrified house.
This is a good answer....
We just got ours back last night. Brutal few days lol
same 😭
No, there is no chance this detailed map is wrong. Have you tried turning your house off and on again?
Seriously, I’m so sorry. Not knowing is, while not worse than the misery of no power, also not great.
They did this on purpose. No one can figure out where they are on the map so they have plausible deniability.
Some of the roads dont make sense. I saw some that don't exist.
The cell phone company coverage map model!
My address is in a spot where it's hard to tell what color I'm in. Good god I hate this.
Same, mine is right at the border of purple and blue zones
This is seriously one of the shittiest maps I've had the displeasure of seeing
Mine isnt even in a color. Its sandwiched between two areas that supposedly already have power
Why are they so bad at making maps?
Well, they’re bad at making electricity, so it’s not entirely surprising that they are bad at this too.
They don’t make electricity , lol … they are distributors
Spring branch peeps can y’all figure out when we getting power 77055
Spring Branch is split between several days on this map. You’d have to be more specific on what area you’re wondering about.
Half of Spring Branch says tomorrow. A quarter says Tuesday, and the other quarter says Wednesday.
My area code is 77055 which I believe is spring branch west I’m new to Houston and still figuring it out
77055 stretches multiple days on the map.
Oh okay I’m off of long point and witte
I don't like how they got rid of the list with the zip codes. Now, you can only see a handful of zip codes. Mine 77049 is no longer listed.
Someone else mentioned that their power came back on after it had disappeared. Mines not there but I don’t have power yet.
I went by, and my apartments are still without power.
Same bud. Trying to figure out where Wallisville and miller rd 2 is
It looks like that area is green now. I'm not getting my hopes up. I've read and seen quite a few posts about people having that yesterday and still no power
Yeah, the circle k in that intersection had a generator running. This was as of 1pm today. My neighborhood doesn’t have power
Sonoma ranch doesn't have power. Sister in laws house does just down the road on Dell Dale Hopefully were yup tomorrow or this night.
Looks like Sonoma Ranch is the brown spot just north of Sterling Greens green spot. Sterling green got power yesterday.
Sonoma Ranch is crapshoot. Looks like anywhere between today and Wednesday.
Same with 77022, it was there around noon, and i checked again about 5 or 6, and it's gone
Still looks like something your child would color while waiting for their dinner at Chili's
Pepper Pals® approved.
For real, the person who cobbled that together needs some help. Lol
For my 77077 peeps. According to this Metroid map by Samus. We’ll have power tomorrow or Tuesday🫠
Are you in the Reflections community by chance?
I’m on south dairy ashford between memorial and briar forest
Stonehenge checking on. Power and lights on. Schools on for ray daily tomorrow because of it.
Keep your power suit on sweetheart…
Yes daddy😍
Had power yesterday - lost power again today. Every neighborhood around ours has power.
Look, I would take even two hours of power just to lose it again, we’re on a well so the toilets are at port-a-potty stage and a little of air conditioning to reset the house sure would be nice
I grew up on a well. People think I’m crazy when I saw I’m ok without power— my house now is mostly natural gas powered, so I have hot water and a stove. I would have AC, but I need electricity for the whole system to work. No water makes everything infinitely more complicated.
Hope it comes back for you asap.
Sorry - hoping you get power soon
Yep. We just lost power again in cypress.
My place on the map lacks a color designation and I have no power. Does this mean indeterminate?
New map says the same thing for us the map yesterday said. Yesterday we were slated for power. Today were slated for power. It's 7 pm, still no power.
Wtf even is the yellow line road? 290 to TX-6 around to 225? Why does the underlayer map have to be such bad quality?
I think the orange lines are to divide between the four numbered service regions. Probably doesn't have any real meaning to anyone outside Centerpoint, however.
I had to use Cypress Creek as a starting point. No 249, no FM1960, not very helpful.
If we got power on recently do we need to worry about losing it again?
We have been out twice since having it restored, so it's a possibility
It’s like they realized what they did wrong with the first version but still didn’t fix it?
Are they paying the people make these maps a salary? Please tell me they are not…
These map makers are actually well paid geniuses. They are designed to look like they are giving you detailed information while actually telling you nothing at all. That's not easy to do.
Study the map. Overlay it onto google maps or such. Determine your location and the color. Look up the color in the legend. That is the day your power will NOT be restored. It might come back sooner or later but not when they indicate.
First they said Wednesday and I was ready for it. Then my power came on today and rejoicing was done. Then they gave me a call to let me know my power will be on Monday. I forgive them though. Too much going on all at once.
Yeah I had the same. Got a text telling me my power would be back by Monday meanwhile it had been on for like 4 hours
It’s hard times. Frustrating but talking shit about people who are eventually going to get your power on doesn’t work. Shit I had a great conversation earlier with a stranger cause I got out the house . I get it guys it sucks . Show some love . This shit isn’t going to take overnight . The condescending comments and shitty attitudes aren’t helping . Been through Harvey and Ike and other disasters here and this probably the worse as far as people complaining
I think the unexpectedness factor of this storm is what caught everyone off guard so people are mad about it. With a hurricane, you get a couple days/week to prepare.
Yea I can see that . I agree. Came out of nowhere . I’m going on 5 days . Well it will be in a couple of hours and I been trying to make the best of it with my doggies . God bless you all and hope you all can find some happiness in this mess . Well will get through it
Yep, we’re a pretty spoiled bunch.
My area has said eod 19th since yesterday. For the second day in a row the crews working in my area (about 30 trucks) were gone by 6pm. The lines are all up, wired, but left with slack so they're touching the ground.
And no these aren't crew branded vehicles. Something with green writing instead, so guess it's independent company or out of city one.
Probably a contractor that's not authorized to make final hookups.
77018 in the heights off ella. centerpoint sent a text tonight that we should get power by the end of the day tomorrow
Just got the call from centerpoint automated service, rest of 77007 estimated EOD tomorrow
Tfw you’re not even colored in (flair slightly exaggerates, the tornado south of Waller went about a mile south of me)
i might be purple, i might be tan.. so far looking like i’m in the tan
So I’m supposing ‘through’ means they’ll be working on it starting that day? Bc I would have had power by now if it was ‘on’ the 19th
They show Meyerland portion of Bellaire but I was over there today and it had power?
So dumb, we should be able to zoom in.
Wtf is this? My neighborhood is split between green, purple, and white but as I type this NOBODY has power anywhere near here 😂
This is laughable
My kid has been out of the country for over a week and missed all the excitement. Won’t be back for another few days. He’s in the 22nd area. I’m sure his house is totally funky by now
According to this map I have power. I don’t have power.
Now in all fairness everyone around me has power except me and a row of four houses. So we’re all just f**ked together I guess.
I’m in the green, which denotes my power was to be restored yesterday, Sunday, 5-19. As of 4:18p today, Monday, I still have no power. FML. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Toddler….that made me chuckle. thanks!
Is the grid this fragile everywhere else in the world? The power goes out when it's cold, or when there's a hurricane, or a tropical storm, or even just a normal spring storm now?
Normal spring storms don’t typically get their own Wikipedia page.
What? A derecho is FAR from a "normal spring storm".
Most cities would end up in the same or worse position after a storm like that. The only power grid that wouldn't die is an underground one, but that has a trade-off of being far more difficult to repair.
And what's the excuse today, there was no derecho or tornado or hurricane or freeze.
Just a normal spring storm and 313,000 are without power. At what point are we going to stop giving them a pass.
Radar did indicate a Tornado near greenspoint with windspeeds of 80mph.
Also I have no interest in giving Centerpoint "a pass". But expectations need to be realistic as well. Calling a derecho a "normal storm" was the focus of my comment.
The grid sucks and our politicians let centerpoint get away with it was my point
Nah other cities are built different. You could drop a nuke on LA or NYC and they'd only lose power for a couple microseconds
Some of the high tension towers collapsed, so that’s pretty major. That said I don’t recall the grid being so shaky back in Michigan
Well everywhere else in the world doesn't get tornadoes and derechos in the local area annually. The central US is -very- far ahead in that department, partly because of the north-south barrier range (Rockies) and the swamplike Gulf.
I am now starting to get annoyed
I'm in the purple zone in the map and still no elecity. Tf with CPE? are they even doing something? I saw a bunch of comments in Twitter people saying that there were a fuckton of trucks parked in the parking lot for hours not doing anything
the purple area means tomorrow
To be fair, you have no idea what shift those drivers are on, they may have been the ones pulling 16 hr shifts. Or maybe they just drove in from another state to come help with the relief.
People really need to start caring again cause everyone is acting like a bunch of spoiled self entitlement liberals.
Wake up babe, new map just dropped 🔥
