Teaching my son to say dada and mama and he’s teaching me to keep my hands up
I broke my nose a couple years ago and was chatting with my Dr. after he set it back in place. He mentioned that most of his patients with broken noses are women. My mind immediately went to domestic violence. He explained it was because of toddlers and how they swing their heads around like wrecking balls.
As a first time mom with a baby: duly fucking noted.
After the first 2-3 times youll have a better chance noticing it coming so you can at least brace yourself.
My baby girl headbutted my wife hard enough to get a black eye and when we met friends that week they pulled her aside to ask her if she was safe. Can't imagine getting hit hard enough to have a broken nose though. Maybe my toddlers are still too small
Now that I'm a parent my mom loves retelling the story of my breaking her nose when I banged my head into it as baby. Now imma tell her it's somewhat common haha
Lmaoo not my daughter. She gonna hit you with a clean right hook then laugh about it.
God I loved those times with my son. Little kid laughter is the best sound in the world. When he was little, if my wife or I were making our bed he would jump in it and hide under the sheets/blankets. Then he would squeal with delight as we tried to smoosh out the lump under the covers as he crawled around under them. Lol
Dude i was having a bad day, just reading what you wrote fixed it.
Hope your day continues to improve!
I swear it got better, like i had a wonderful interaction with this old lady rn and it helped it get better lol.
- it got bad cuz i accidentally bought an overpriced water bottle (10$), it was through credit card, man i felt wronged cuz that cashier talked so nicely.
Ah. Regretting the purchase you made while distracted by a friendly voice/a pretty face/a human to human interaction. We’ve all been there.
A bottle of water? Or a reusable water bottle, cause that’s not bad…
A regular SMALL water of bottle.
I got absolutely rocked by a headbutt from my toddler the other day. Didn’t even phase him. I have no idea how that works lol
Why son once threw his head back so hard, he smacked me right in my orbital socket and I got a black swollen eye.
I went to work and finally had an excuse to use the famous Homer Simpson line "I told you, my baby beat me up."
Gotta keep your head on a swivel with toddlers. My boy accidentally headed butted me more than some MMA fighters get in a career.
Yes, kids like to flail around like that when they're playing. You eventually learn to keep your face at a safe distance.
I wonder what sort of man I would have become if my old man had cared for me like this even just once.
I've never even hugged him.
Never stop loving that kid... one day he'll understand, and the world will be all the better and brighter for it.
Cutie pie! Good job and don’t worry about self-defense ❤️
Im always on guard when im at home with my 5 yo brother. Sometimes he tries to punch me running so i gotta block or dodge
Herb Dean has called a stop to this contest due to an illegal head butt
Each one of my kids have gotten one good shot in on me but the most devastating one was a sudden scream from my oldest daughter directly into my right ear when she was a toddler. Couldn't hear out of that ear for a week and had vertigo the entire time.
The only time I actually saw stars in my life was when my daughter head butted me in the nose. I always thought it was like exaggerating or artistic license but I was seeing stars and sparkles and everything
aww he looks just like you
Lol
Is that supposed to be an insult??
- that's a beautiful kid.
Why would it be an insult? That's one good looking kid.
Why would you laugh, that's like shady af.
???
!!! - you answered lol to the " he looks like you" like are you making fun of the dad, the kid, both or is it something else?
You're making some really weird reach there. What's there even to make fun of? What is wrong with you?
Bro that's why I asked if that lol was meant to be an insult, i am not reaching, i am just curious why lol ing a comment that says they are similar
Man, hearing your kid say “dada” and “mama” is such a joy! Also, every parent definitely felt that headbutt.
My baby is only five months old, so her headbutts aren’t that strong yet, but one time she rammed her head right into the corner of my metal glasses. Instant wails. I felt so terrible!
Mine’s the same age and she learned to pull my glasses off every time I’m close enough lol
As a special ed teacher who works with behavioral 18-21 year olds, I can tell you that learn very quickly to always be on the lookout for nails, teeth, and swinging heads.
18 yo toddlers must be extremely dangerous. Good luck to you!
Welcome to the mild concussion club!
Daughter gave me three before she turned 6 ROFL
Good ya pops! I'm move this stage with my kiddos as well
He won
That is going to be your life for the next 22 years.
You’re doing it right if they beat your ass. Keep it up!
just tell em at work you fell an hit the doorknob.
Yeah keep your hands up all you want, they'll still get you in the jewels instead.
Ooh I felt that!
Oof that one landed, good shot.
AND good dad. That said, while parenting challenges (as you know) “worth it,” more to the point is how I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
Keep having fun. And embrace the lessons–like “keep my hands up”😄
Awww cute kid and good dad.
When my son was about 18 months (he's 18 now), I was sitting on the sofa holding him up while he stood. I had my grip on him really low and I notice that he's cocked his head to one side and before I could react, I realized he was gonna head butt me, defenseless.
BAM! Little twirp broke my brand-new glasses in two in the middle, titanium frames even. Luckily the optometrist took pity and ordered me a new set of frames because she said that they shouldn't have broken like that.
Also, my nose was sore for about a week. I'm glad I have that memory, even though it was a hassle (and hurt) at the time. I'm pretty sure that my eyes watered enough to look like I was crying.
Super cute
