When this happened to a poor opponent once, I could hit the, but I couldn't pick them up. We tried "pushing" them through my using the portal, but it didn't work. :\
I actually had a game where 3 out of 4 of the survivors got stuck (I was one of them, the last one died) and after the killer tried helping us, they too got stuck. To get us all out of the misery so we all wouldn't have to sit there for an hour, the killer DC'd.
