Where do you think is good in Croydon or the surrounding areas for dinner? I feel like i don't really know where is good anymore!

Bit out of the way and doesn't look good on the outside but banana leaf is the best Indian food I have ever eaten. Lots of fish and veggie options too

Little bay rocks honestly, food is great and the weirdness makes it one of the few truly unique places to go. Seconded!
I found that place so strange. Food was ok but the ‘live music’ was an opera singer with an iPod mini singing at each table. Didn’t return.

When I learnt it was a chain (the only other of which is in Belgrade in Serbia) it answered absolutely none of the questions I had about it.
Glad to hear Little Bay is still going. There used to be another branch in West Hampstead, in the early 2000's. Almost as weird as there being one in Belgrade, which I didn't know about.
My first rule of eating out is the food has to taste better than i can cook at home. This place does not meet that simple requirement.

Not if you’re veggie, it’s bloody awful if you don’t eat meat. In this day and age it’s pretty lame they have basically nothing good for people who don’t eat meat.
I'm veggie, and it has loads of options. So that's not true.

It is very average compared to how good it used to be. And overpriced. Nice interior. Competent food.
I didnt rate it when I went - lasagne was reheated and burnt, and prices were really high.
It’s a bit out of the way but the Royal Garden has a great vegetarian menu if you like Chinese food, and has outdoor seating so can bring your dog

Went to ponte nouvo for a work dinner. I was blown away by how good the food was.
I want to add "the tava shop" to the list.
It's mostly a takeaway place but it's lovely to sit inside too.
Both Tava Shop and Paratha Inn are great tbh!

It's the best Thai in London! Originally from Australia, we are spolit for Thai food basically everywhere. Coming to London I just gave up trying to find a Thai restaurant, until I stumbled on this randomly while looking to buy a flat in the area... It's bloody amazing

Mithras near the East Croydon station is a weird but nice place, not sure if it's dog friendly though.
Tindli is a little north of the West Croydon station, great selection of Indian food. Good veg options too, had the jackfruit curry last time and really liked it.
Basil & Grape does great pizza!
The one with pears and walnuts is amazing.
There platters are amazing!! Goat cheese and fig jam bread is amazing.
Galacia is my personal favourite

Agree. Good Mediterranean style food and meats good but you can go veggie. Service always been friendly and generous. Choose one of the more expensive wines as better value.

I must have had a bad experience, went there once and got served a frozen flavourless burger in a stale bun. Maybe the chef was on leave that day.

I second this. Mediocre food and had to ask for my drinks 3 times before asking to cancel.
Oh and its definitely dog friendly, i go there with family and we have 3 dogs.
Love the concept but the one time we went (Sunday roast) the meat was tough and the roast potatoes I literally had to pick the roastie up and bite it as it was too tough to cut with a knife and fork. As much as I like the concept we (a family group) all had the same experience with the food and decided we won’t go back.

Crystal Restaurant on South End has excellent Persian food, I've been to a number around London and this is probably my favourite - never been disappointed.
Have enjoyed Boulevard too, also in South Croydon - nothing ground breaking but very good value and quality. Better food than the nearby Little Bay imo (although it's definitely worth a visit there for the decor).
You can sit outside at both where I imagine you can bring a dog.

It's not really a restaurant more of a pub that serves food but Crown and Pepper is lovely. The store is mega as well.
Fern, new place opposite East Croydon Station. Tapas style and varied cocktails. Be warned, not cheap. No idea about dogs being allowed.

Only in the bar section though, which doesn't have 'proper' seating to eat. More like sofas - I did like the food though!
The food was great, though I thought on the expensive side.
On the downside they don’t stock any alcohol free wine, and the dining chairs were too small for me (tall male, not skinny).
Expensive and hit and miss with the dishes. To be fair Manager corrected mistakes as soon as commented. Service was very good but I guess we were lucky. Food offering is limited. popular dishes go fast so late diners don't get full choice. It's open long hours so a busy lunch means dinner options limited. Cocktails good and they try and make ones not on menu if you ask nicely. Beer offering could be better.

It closed down a few months ago, and is now Uncle Lim's where they do a good selection of noodle dishes. Best place for sushi I'm aware of now is Toriton Izakaya in Coulsdon.
Gutted about Uncle Lims, popped my head up the stairs today only to see the shutter pulled down, was so looking forward to their Singapore noodles.

Toriton Izakaya is unreal. Every now and then we go there and come home fat and poor and happy
Such a shame. It was a lovely little restaurant, but it always looked so empty.
Basil and Grape is decent. Though I haven’t tried too many of Croydon’s other eateries.

I’m surprised Turtle Bay hasn’t been mentioned yet. It’s a Caribbean restaurant that’s really good value and has 2 for 1 cocktails most of the time.

Persian restaurant in south croydon called crystals
The crown and pepper, about half a mile from Whitgift past the flyover. Best Indian and Chinese when the right chefs are in. Gone there for almost 10 years and haven't had the slightest issue.
Machan- amazing Sri Lankan restaurant with great dishes. We try something new each time as have never been disappointed.
