This. You're not paying for the electricity you've used, you're paying for what they expect you to use each month, based on previous occupant. It'll get reimbursed eventually.
FYI: check www.elpris.dk (in Danish, sorry), which is the publicly run price comparison service for power utilities. It's fairly easy to switch.
Be aware, however, that there are a lot of 'cowboys' in the market, i.e. small but very aggressive companies, luring you in with cheap power for 6 months, before silently switching you to a more expensive subscribtion. It's fine if you know what you're doing and change every 6 months. But some of them also speculate in not returning your upfront payments, hoping you'll forget.
The Danish Consumer Council advises against at least for companies
- Modstrøm
- b.energy (tidligere Blue Energy)
- Edison EL (tidligere Den Glade Eltavle)
- Dansk Strøm (tidligere Power4U)
Generally, I recommend going with some of the larger 'established' players, that may be slightly more expensive, but don't bamboozle you in that way. Companies like Andel, Aura, Norlys, NRGi, Ewii, and OK.
Update: Thank you all for the very helpful comments! I called both suppliers and there were hiccups on their sides. The bill will be rectified and just pay what I used for the last 6 days. I am changing over to NRGi and will only pay per use instead of paying forward. both customer services were amazing and very helpful. My day's crisis is averted 😊
What a great turn of events. Good for you!
850 will probably get reimbursed next quarter or adjusted. Call the company.
Change provider to change by use insted
you'll likely get a lot of money back - that's sadly how it works. power companies make some kind of magical fairy-dust projection of what they expect you'll use, based on previous power use (regardless of who used it) - and then charge you for that
You’re paying ahead based on expected usage. Your next bill will be adjusted by the difference to your actual usage in the period.
If you want to pay monthly for actual usage, change to a provider like Andel who offers that.
You might want to logon to the data hub and change your password as it is right there on the photo.
It’s silly that aconto billing is even allowed after Radius installed smart electricity meters basically everywhere. It’s scammy as hell.
You pay in advance (aconto) and then you will get money back or pay more based on your actual usage over time.
