Some people should read books about the DOs and DONT's on how to raise animals. Litter box and food should not be kept next to each other. Same goes for where the cat sleeps. Also, if that is really a garage... and if the cat sleeps there... I can't image the amount of fumes that poor baby is exhaling.
If you are asking us, instead of immediately taking it to a vet, I wonder if you are not financially able to do so and that is why you came here instead. In that case, you should look in your area for free veterinary services. You can contact the local animal shelters and they should be able to point you in the right direction.
Some something don’t shit where you eat? Come on man
I wonder if OP even read this...
I'm worried about this cat 😞 kind of want to see if there's any way to call animal control but I guess that would also require doxxing... I wish op would let one of us help or just SOMETHING.... idk 😭💔
SAME. At this point doxxing would be absolutely acceptable imo.
Yeah :/ ugh. now the post is saying it was removed by the moderators. what do you think happened? what can we do!?
I want to contact legal authorities but don't know where OP lives. My guess is in the US. Or maybe international animal rights organization like World Animal Protection, Humane Society International or International Society for Animal Rights can help... I wonder if there is a backup of this post for evidence, if needed.
those are all really good ideas. perhaps post history may be an indicator of where they live. I am going to see if I can make soem phone calls too, thank you for the suggestions <3
And yeah, kinda sucks they removed the post, I guess maybe it broke the rules in some type of way. I bet someone on this thread has a screenshot or something though.
ETA: based on their post history and comment history it looks like they are in Indonesia.
Thank you so much. I've just written a mail to World Animal Protection — not sent so far — and see if they or other organizations are also active in Indonesia. I'll include this hint in my mail.
Let's just hope there are laws protecting animals in Indonesia!
Thank you so much 🙏 I am sending some emails to those orgs as well. Also was able to get a screenshot of the post on my phone (the pic loaded on my phone, perhaps cos I haven't refreshed or something yet)
Thank you so much also! Getting that screenshot is amazing!
I just read that Humane Society International sadly doesn't have the resources to investigate online witnessed crimes, so I'll browse OP's history as well and then maybe contact the Indonesian police. Let's save this poor baby 🤝🤍
Cat probably has a tooth infection, the drooling is caused by pain. Please take them to the vet :( if the drooling is increasing the pain is increasing.
I’m dealing with a stomatitis kitty and drooling is a symptom of that as well. OP definitely needs to take the cat to a vet ASAP.
I'm worried for this cat :( ppl on the thread are willing to help. I want to help this baby. Wishing there was something I could do 😞
I have also seen my own kitty drool when extremely stressed.
my cat drools like this all the time for 3 years since i adopted him. he’s completely healthy and in good spirits. no need to see a vet “immediately” unless other serious symptoms develop. dogs and cats drool, just like humans drool sometimes too
The cat is skinny enough that it's arms bones are showing, owner says it's appetite has declined, it has matted fur which means it's not cleaning itself properly, and it's food and litter box are next to each other in the garage which probably means that this cat is kept locked in the garage. But yeah, the drooling, if alone, /could/ be nothing.
the thought of this poor baby being locked in the garage is awful.
I low key want to see if there's a way to call animal control but I guess that would also require doxxing... Ugh idk 😭💔
Agree with everything you’re saying other than it probably being locked in the garage, we don’t know that mate and it seems much more logical that it has a cat flap leading into the garage than someone locking it in there.
Obviously, if they are locking a cat in a garage, it’s hideous and that needs to be rectified immediately because that’s just not how to treat any animal, let alone an animal that basically requires a certain amount of comfort!
I agree we don't know for sure. I used the adverb probably but perhaps that's too much certainty
This cat just started drooling. Any drastic change in behavior is a cause for concern.
Im willing to bet there’s some underlying condition causing this for your cat too because this is NOT normal for cats. Cats do not = dogs
One of my cats drooled like this & died on the same day it started. She was perfectly fine prior to that. Drooling is a serious sign.
It could be a sign of Feline HIV, seriously. You may be sitting on a time bomb by not addressing the matter.
No idea so probably best to get them to the vet as they don’t look very happy at all. Also, you’ll want to move your cat’s food away from its litter tray (if that’s the cats food on the right). It’s something like someone using your kitchen or dining room as a toilet. Cats are normally very clean so there should be good separation between litter trays & food. I’m no expert but if you’ve got all of this in your garage (looks like a motorbike in the background), that may be part of it. Search out “Jackson Galaxy” on YouTube for some vids & tips on where & how to set up your cats things so they feel comfortable but first, VET.
Wow didn’t even notice at first. I honestly hate people sometimes the way they treat pets. Like do you want to eat right next to your toilet even if there is a small divider?
People often don't think of this. I look back at some of the stuff I did and I cringe. I've learned a lot over the years and now try to help others without criticism. The person you are talking to may be very young.
No doubt if they are learning I get it. But I have had arguments with partners who firmly believe animals should survive on one kind of dry food their entire life and never get anything else or that a 90 lb dog doesn’t need regular walks or walks at all the regular access to the backyard makes up for it. So my view is tinted that many people just don’t care and won’t change.
Well, these are people you know, which is my point. I try to be open minded and ask questions. But you are clearly dealing with people who don't care and say whatever comes into their mind to get you to leave them alone.
I feel bad that there are so many people here who adopt pets that don't have financial resources to support them. But.... I guess it's better that these pets have a life, even a shorter one, rather than being euthanized.
Jackson Galaxy is the man. I used to watch his show for a while and he never ceased to amaze with even the difficult cases
Damn I love my cat so much and to see this cat like this makes me so sad..
It’s honestly devastating, I go above and beyond for my cats and still worry sometimes that it isn’t enough. This poor baby isn’t even getting the bare minimum.
Please surrender him /u/Isitokautobeinhuman, I’m sure your intentions were not to neglect him but there is so much pain and sadness in his eyes. It’s much less about you now and more about giving him the best life he can possibly have, which many owners in your area would be more than happy to do.
This little guy doesn’t deserve to live a life of suffering, if you can’t afford the vet then PLEASE REHOME HIM!
I know, I feel so bad... this post has me really upset 😞 I feel like this subreddit has been making me really sad lately 😭💔
do you know if there is any way we can help? I really want to help this cat :(
I don’t know unfortunately, it kills me to say that. The owner is very unresponsive and hasn’t spoken to any of the offers in this thread. All it would take for him is to post his state and at least 3 people I imagine would be willing to drive over and pick the kitty up.
I would private message him, even though it’s unlikely he will see or care about it. But the more people that do this will at least encourage him to go the vet or surrender the cat.
I completely agree. I saw a few people here saying they would help. Not sure why OP is being so unresponsive :( :(
that is a good point about the private message. I agree with your thoughts, but perhaps I will try that as well just in case it might help them change their mind :/
The owner doesn’t want to rehome the cat, you can see it in his new update post. He would rather keep it in the garage or a “new cage”. I told him this is a life of misery for a cat and he sent me the “reddit mental health crisis line” like a smug loser. Is there anyway we could contact the mods for this? It’s absolutely sickening
That's so disturbing 💔😢 fuckkk :// I feel like that poor cat needs help. I don't even know if I can read the update post
ETA found the post but can't read it; seems to have been removed. I can only read the comments. Did they say they would take them to the vet at least?
It really is awful, thankfully his mother and sister took the cat to the vet and are awaiting news tomorrow.
The mods removed the thread due to him wanting a “new cage”. I thankfully took a screenshot of it
It seems like he isn’t the only owner, so there is a chance that the others would want to rehome the cat unlike the OP. It’s a really bad situation and I feel that it’s unlikely the cat will get rehomed to a redditor due to him being in south east asia. OP had hundreds of people tell him that the living conditions for the cat is flat out wrong, if he sees no problem with that then he is truly an awful person.
Thanks for sharing the screenshot. I'm glad they at least are responsive to some of the feedback. Hopefully since the mods removed the post again, he will see that the cage is not a good environment 😕 too bad the aunt can't move out
OP is lacking basic cat-caring knowledge. Thanks for stepping in
Wow. Didn’t even see OP’s username when I replied. That’s a bit worrying too…
Please get the food far away from the litter.
You should probably take your cat to the vet.
Does she seem lethargic? Is she eating/vomiting? Your cats pupils look like they’re a bit on the larger side which can also point to there being something wrong.
The only time my cat has drooled like this was when she was sick and needed medical attention.
Usually drooling and a decline in appetite is related to dental problems but it could be any number of things.
Vet now!!!!!
A week? Damn, take him/her to a vet. And don’t put the food next to the litter. I assume you don’t eat near your toilet?
This could be nausea, or something like poisoning or FIP etc.
Id be nauseous if there were shit particles in my food too. I mean the cat literally looks terrified in the photo, i dont get how people see their cat with clear symptoms and getting so skinny and have to ask if they should go to a vet. If you have to ask, the answer is probably yes.
Omg, this poor baby 😭
That’s what I’m saying. This breaks my fucking heart
This hurts me 😭💔😭 I feel like I have to stop going on reddit 😔
Same 😭💔
I really wish there was something we could do 😔
Let's go get him. Time to road-trip.
take the cat to the vet and for god's sake, clean the food/water bowls and that area where she stays, because it looks dirty and disgusting as hell... how can you expect your cat to stay healthy when you keep her in such an dirty, unsanitary environment?
Best thing to do is visiting the veterinary. My cat had some years ago this plus smelly breath and it was an infection in the gums/teeth. The sooner, the better
Possibly poison or something serious. Vet ASAP.
Bro take your cat to the vet now.
Why you letting your cat eat their dinner next to where they shit ? Thats awful.
Take your cat to your vet, also please search on living conditions of cats. Your cat is being mistreated to suffer
Is the cat living in your garage?!
any chance you would eat beside your toilet everyday before you flushed? if not think about what your cat is going through and separate there own food and toilet, food goes in kitchen, toilet goes in bathroom. it’s not that bloody difficult. do better. then go take your cat to the vet.
Why is the food next to the litter? Put it away! And get them to a vet!!! Like NOW!
take it to the vet, its a probable sign of something related to either 1) food poisoning 2) dental/general mouth issues it could be painful for it too, and it doesnt look happy at all
that cat literally has an expression of pain in their face
seriously. and who would let this go for a week especially if this was something new in their cat and not something expected or previously experienced.
OP, please take your cat to the vet to get him/her looked at and please create a better living situation for him/her. They shouldn't have to eat right next to where they go to the toilet, that could be the cause in itself.
I pray that you are a decent human being and treat this cat the best that you possibly can.
Where do you live, OP? If you can't/won't take the cat to the vet, I'd like to provide care for them
I second this, they can’t. I will.
Third. Please op 😭
Looks like they live in Indonesia, unfortunately.
This cat is likely going to stay this way
Nooooo 😭💔
Also, some people should not be pet owners this is just sad
This post just makes me sad and angry. Poor hygiene, poor knowledge and most definitely this cat won't see a Vet. Over a fucking week your cat starts to drool like that and what you decide to do is a post on reddit?
Ah and don't come at me with the "people don't have money" or is the "economy" fuck that, you don't need to be rich to have the bare minimum hygiene. This is abuse.
First Thought would be something dental... But coukd also be something else..
As stated befor vet check would be recommended
take the cat to the vet now and keep the food separate. people are ripping into you but its serious. i hope you listen to us, please.
Your cat looks sick af and you mentioned that his appetite is declining... And you don't go to the fucking vet? Dude, you should be charged with animal cruelty at this point.
Seriously.... Waiting a WEEK?!
You have such a beautiful cat and you're letting her live in absolute filth. Do you like to take your meals right next to where you shit?? Disgusting. Poor baby probably has some sort of oral infection or ingested something poisonous. Take her to a vet for treatment and surrender her so that someone who will treat her better can take her home.
Could be poison, could be mouth issue, but my cat who had a serious neurological issue drooled. I also worked in a rescue so I know a little vet med. What concerns me is the pupils being dialated, although it might be the light, I can’t tell, the airplane ears, and the far off stare while you’re right there with a camera. Local seizures can also be a cause of weird behavior, zoning out, and drooling. Please take this baby to the vet. Has he been having behavioral problems too?
My cat has done this. It's from being in pain. Probably pain related to the mouth. My cat needs dental surgery to remove some of his teeth. It is really serious for cats. Dental issues lead to diseases in other parts of the body. And if a cat doesn't eat for 3 days due to the pain, they will get fatty liver disease. Get him to the vet asap because these things can be very deadly.
Poor thing looks like it's getting abused
that was my first thought as well and i pray that it's not the case... especially since the food/water bowl look so dirty and the general place is just so dirty and unhygienic, it's no wonder the cat is so skinny and sick...
Big accusation to throw around that
It isn't an accusation, it's an observation
Also saying it 'looks like it's getting abused' is both an observation and accusation
No, it's just an observation. If you'd like to provide any evidence on it being an accusation go ahead. Here's my evidence for how these are two different things (which is why they have different names)
Observation: a remark, statement, or comment based on something one has seen, heard, or noticed.
Accusation: a charge or claim that someone has done something illegal or wrong.
Furthermore, 'looks like' is a colloquial phrase that can be used to express speculation about a situation
Keep fighting ghosts on whoever's behalf
🤡
Yeah, figures. What a waste of space you are
😢
There's nothing wrong with admitting when you're wrong and learning from a situation. Good luck
Based on what though. How do you know OP doesn't have money or resources like other people have? Maybe the cat is unwell?
man would you eat beside your toilet every day? you don’t have to have money or resources to put these things in separate rooms.
Yes that's a terrible idea. Lessons need to be learnt but let's not throw the word abuse about is all I'm saying
well it’s not so far fetched considering no person in there right mind would set things up like this. and to stand by and watch a cat drool for a full week and to then ask random judgy people on reddit instead of going to a vet… nice one.
Some people just lack common sense. Who would upload a picture of their cat here of all places, if they were abusing it 😂
It's still abusive even if it is done without malice. Neglect is probably a better word for it, though.
I agree with you there
there are some horrible and stupid people out there. this seems to be one of the two because the signs are there.
and iv seen some questionable things on this sub, that you’re obviously oblivious to.
What are you talking about? I didn't say anything about OP. You seem determined on creating my position for me so you have something to argue against.
Do you shit in your kitchen? Do you eat beside the toilet? Please separate those for the health of this animal. Keeping something captive is one thing, to do so without concern for hygiene is another. That "divider" does not stop airborne poo particles from getting into your cat's food.
username checks out
that is a living breathing being bro, not hard to extrapolate that food doesnt go with feces, or motor fluid for that matter
why even have a cat if you skip the taking care of it part
Ever notice how people will wait weeks to get a pet looked at then wonder why it passed. The same person will look at pictures of an older house on Zillow and ask should go to the ER for lead and asbestos exposure.
:( All of the above + it looks like it could use a larger litter box. This poor little cat...Sending him lots of love and I hope he feels better soon!
Also, like every other comment here maybe separate your cats shit box from there food. It's only common sense. Hope he gets the help he needs.
Cat doesn’t look particularly happy tbh. Vet trip and maybe some rearranging.
To put it simply, would you have a good appetite if you had to eat all of your meals next to your toilet with some shit and piss in there? I’m guessing not.
Cat needs to feel comfortable to be happy.
Looking at this picture breaks my heart. Get your cat to a vet pronto. This is not normal.
This animal depends on you for its survival and happiness. Please take better care of them.
Can’t stand this shit you dumb ass animal abusers should not own pets
Could be many things. If she does this with the litterbox, it could be a UTI. It could be cancer or a dental problem as well. I echo what others have already said. Move the food!
My mom’s cat was drooling because she had a tooth infection. Its very painful please take it to the vet, in any case is not normal
I saw one comment addressing the fact you’re keeping the food right next to the place the cat poops/pees. Would you eat food thats kept inches away from the toilet? That divider isnt really helping either because litter kicks up as a dust. I dont know if thats related to the drooling and others have said they need to see a vet asap, but if you show this pic to the vet they will probably not be a big fan of this bathroom/eating arrangement.
The fact that this has been going on for a week tells me that this cat needs a better owner. Any signs that makes you think “hm, is this normal?” Should be taken seriously. Better safe than sorry and you will learn along the way the signs that is to be taken seriously and the ones that are not.
Give your little guy a visit to the vet asap.
How about asking the vet?? This kitty looks miserable there, and does not look healthy. This baby deserves better than you. You are awful letting it suffer for a week, and then coming to Reddit for help?! Call your vet! This is neglect. You are NEGLECTING your responsibilities as a pet owner. The poor cat is filthy too. FFS
A week, like s-e-v-e-n days? smh
You need to get your cat medical help asap. You are not a fit pet owner if you don’t recognize she is sick.
Stop asking stupid questions here. Take him to the vet asap!
congrats on ruining your cats’ life. you don’t deserve them
Dental issues. Could be stomatitis
Teeth problems maybe?
Aww poor kitty. If my cat started looking even slightly sick, I take them to the vet or even call to ask questions to see if it’s anything serious, usually is free that way. My cat is everything to me so it upsets me seeing where their cat’s food and litter is, especially with a vehicle by it. My cat is treated like the spoiled queen she is. So please keep their food and litter separate and have this kitty in an environment that is safe and not the garage, if that is a garage. Even if the litter is in the garage, make sure they don’t spend much time out there and make sure the garage is clean and nothing harmful they can get exposed to. And have their food and water inside where it’s nice for them. Cats deserve the best for the short lives they live. Let us know some updates. I’d love to see any progress from this little guy/girl.
Concerned about a possible dental infection or broken tooth as that can be of hte causes of potential drooling. Get that checked out and if that's not the problem, maybe they'll give you an idea of what to try next.
Just based on your post history, maybe the cat got a hold of some of that black nightshade that you are eating...
There are three possible answers and they all need vet attention. In order least to worst.
1) They are old and can't stop creating saliva after bathing. Not horrible but may allow for infection.
2) They are having dental issues and may need one or more teeth pulled. Usually this is accompanied by Stank breath.
3) They have eaten something poisonous and are trying to slowly regurgitate it.
i demand update; is he okay now?
Right?! This breaks my heart.
Same 😕
Op if you can’t take care of your cat maybe surrender it to a no kill shelter?
Good chance it’s a thyroid condition. Take them to the vet for blood work.
I had a cat that developed an autoimmune disorder that created a sore in his mouth that made him reluctant to eat (due to pain) and also made him drool a lot. We found out about it when we took him to the vet for the drooling and diminished eating. The vet gave him a steroid shot and also gave us an oral steroid solution for him to take daily. This kept it in check, though the oral medicine wasn’t as potent as the shot, so after a couple of months he would eventually start drooling again and need another shot. We did this for years, and he eventually died of old age earlier this year.
Is it a stray cat??
Looks more like a hostage…
my cat started to drool a lot, we took her to the vet turns out she just had a lot of bad teeth, the vet got them all out (the bad ones only) and she was healthier than ever (she was 14 or 15 at the time and lived to 17 years old) even got to gain some weight after
Please update on cats health :(
when my cat started drooling like this they had cancer in the mouth.
Same for my Cali. Died 3 years ago. This cat needs a vet.
The last time my cat drooled like this, it was an emergency vet visit. Turns out he ate some carpet fibers that got stuck in his throat and stomach and was severely irritating him.
My cat who started drooling initially needed a dental, found out with the dental it was also mouth cancer. Would not mess about, just get it check out at a vet
Go to the vet but please move that food bowl away from the litter box!! That’s extremely unhygienic. Please do research when taking a cat in. Google is free. I hope the baby is ok 🤍
Almost a WEEK?! Are you fucking kidding me? That poor cat looks like it's about ready for the rainbow bridge!
Something you need to know about cats--they hide their suffering. If you can see a cat having a bad time, it is probably NOT going to get better on its own. It could even be too late by the time you first notice.
DO NOT WAIT! Go to the vet or humane society NOW! Don't wait until morning! Don't wait until after lunch! Seriously, I am begging you to go literally right this second. Finish the rest of this comment later and go NOW.
If it survives, don't keep the food near the litter box. Definitely a big risk to health. That could possibly be the cause of the problem today.
My heart hurts for this cat 😭 I wish there was something I could do 💔💔💔
Why are you making a reddit post instead of taking your cat to the vet
It’s been happening for a week and you haven’t taken your cat to the vet? Wow some people really should not own pets this is sad
Possible Bad tooth
Take the cat to the vet! Also, please, for the love of god/anything else, put the food and water far away from the litter!!! It’s like having your toilet next to your dining table.
From previous experience,bprobably needs medication.
I've only seen a cat drool badly when she had an inoperable tumor under/behind her tongue. Get your cat checked, now.
Most likely pain in his mouth or teeth. Vet asap
Most likely a serious dental issue vet asap
Happened to my boy few months ago. After almos a day of drooling around, I finally found a piece of black thread in his mouth
I hope it will be similar stupid yet easy reason with your cat. Fingers crossed! Please see the vet soon.
My cat started drooling when she started having seizures. She was later diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor that was causing them.
Go to a vet immediately.
We had a cat that had this happen, and she ended up being allergic to fleas.
Definitely time for a vet
My parents' cat had drooling similar to that, and it turns out he had aggressive cancer in his mouth, which spread down his throat. I suggest you visit a vet ASAP.
Does it eat? Looks insanely skinny
Drooling can be a sign of liver and kidney disease in cats. Could also mean accidental poisoning, or some dental stuff. Key point, take the cat to a vet
usually that's tooth issues or kidney failure one is serius the other deadly, take him to the vet asap
Why TF didn't you take it to the vet when it started happening?! If you're going to own an animal, at least do it the common decency to take care of it. Jesus fuck.
Take your cat to the vet My cat drooled so much before he passed away do to the kidney disease
I had a cat who started drooling like this several years ago, and it turned out that he had bone cancer in his lower jaw. :( I hope your kitty is ok!
Look how dilated his eyes are OP he looks like he is in pain… go to the vet like others have suggested.
Many years ago my cat had licked the sink where my elderly grandmother had not long ago poured draino down without thinking.
He was drooling profusely like this. He had chemical burns on his tongue (it looked angry and red).
Either way. Get this little one to the vet ASAP.
Bad tooth? I would go to vet. It could be something serious.
My cat drools when she’s making bread on us, I asked the vet about it and they said cats forget to swallow when they are happy. She is the most miserable cat 99% of the time and won’t let you touch her unless it’s absolutely her choice. So the vet saying that made all the miserableness ok.
My cat drooled like this and she had mouth cancer. I sincerely hope this is not that.
Woke up from a nap with my cat one time and she was drenched in drool. Took her to emergency vet and they couldn’t find anything wrong. Pretty sure she ate some potato chips my husband left out. She is happy and healthy and it’s never happened again. Please take this baby to the vet and also move his food away from the litter box.
My cat was drooling a lot at one time took it to the vet, he had a sore under/along side its tongue gave him medication. Got better in a few days
I didn’t know that lilies are toxic to cats and had some in a bouquet in the house. One of my cats was drooling from being exposed to the toxic lily pollen. Lesson learned. It could be any number of issues, please take your cat to the vet ASAP.
Gingivitis
Username checks out.
Vet ASAP
Take better care of your catto, if you can’t let me know and help arrange someone who can for you.
I had a cat that started drooling as a kitten and he lived to age 17. The vet said some cats just do this.
my guy had severe dental disease when he drooled a lot — lost every tooth. please seek help for him asap!
My cat drools a bit when happy but I've never seen a cat drool like this so id probably see a vet
My cat would drool when he was happy and having a fuss made of him.
Thing is, your cat does not look happy.
So take him to the vet.
HE HUNGER
That cat is miserable
Can you get his teeth checked.?
Our boy drooled a lot when he had mouth ulcers. Definitely take him in - if it’s a mouth problem, your cat is probably drooling from excruciating oral pain. If it’s not oral, it could be neural.
Please rehome this poor kitten :( you can’t keep the poor baby in a garage or cage that’s not the right conditions first a kitten to be happy/ healthy. You really need to do your research before buying a pet. It’s a living thing & it deserves to live the best life possible
drooling pussy
had same problem with one of my cats. Found out she was eating a plant in our home, after removing the plant everything was ok.
My cat had a tumor when she drooled like this 😃😃
The only cat I ever knew that drooled all the time had asthma, not sure if that’s related at all but might be something to look into
My cat gets in weird states causing her to drool sometimes as well.. usually accompanied by wobblyness.. slow movement or sitting in place, with her 3rd eyelids half closed.. a few times she's cried out as if she were scared or something.
It's scary but nobody can tell me a thing beyond "it's neurological"
You leave the weed out?

This is serious. See a vet immediately. I've only seen a cat drool this much for a prolonged period when they ate something poisonous or had a serious mouth/tooth issue.
Also, you need to take seriously other advice about improving your cat's living conditions that you scoffed at in another comment. It might be a contributing factor to the drooling and it might not, but it is solid advice for the well being of your cat not to put their food and water right next to the litter box.
