Specifically, I can't remember how my contractions felt, and the realization is weirding me out right now.
Granted, I was induced and had asked for an epidural about 6hrs into my contractions so I wasn't "in pain" for too long. But I genuinely thought that was a bodily experience I'd never forget. Especially since everyone said how later pregnancies/labour go faster because "the body remembers how to go through labour".
Now I'm lying in bed, trying to crunch my abs in an attempt to remember the feeling but it's just not coming back to me š«
I wonder if I'm alone in this boat or if this is actually normal and we're evolutionarily geared to forget labour pain (at least consciously). Does anyone remember theirs?
I remember the intensity but not what it felt like. Iāve had both an unmedicated and medicated birth. Iāve asked my mom if she remembers and she had the same response. I do think there is an evolutionary aspect. However pain is really hard to describe and recall. Itās very subjective and our brain does weird things when we try to remember. Thatās probably why many of us go on to have more children haha
