I'm planning on traveling to VT this weekend to do a single overnighter in Green Mountain Forest on the Griffith Lake Loop
It looks like it might be a miserable weekend anyways, but does anyone know what the current trail conditions are for that hike?
I'm not familiar with the area. So any other advice would be much appreciated.
Update: We hiked the trail on 5/11 - 5/12. Out the long way towards Mt Baker first, then an overnight stay at Griffith Lake and back out the short way. Basically the opposite direction that All Trails shows for the Griffth Lake Loop Trail. Conditions were good. The hike in had very little mud. The hike out had more, but not impassable at all.
I live nearby- It’s still mud season, you really should not be out on the trails until after Memorial Day. FR 58 is a mess this time of year and you run the risk of your vehicle getting stuck en route. FR 21 on the Danby side got washed out last summer so accessing from Old Job is also not an option. You’d have to hike over Baker Peak and access Griffith Lake from the LT in Danby.
