"Creature" - we're getting closer to real movies
LUMA đŹ PG-13đŚ SHORT FILMThis was made with Luma Dream Machine. The lip-sync was done by bringing over a Luma video to Runway. Midjourney for all images.
Any love for the 4k on YouTube is appreciated. https://youtu.be/79hnXaSAcuY
The character consistency in this is fantastic. How hard was that to set up? What's the best way to go about that?
Iâm mostly using the CREF parameter in Midjourney to accomplish it.
The guy with the goatee, Henry, came out much more consistent because he has distinguishing features like the hair and beard, and I had a good headshot of him as my CREF.
The older guy, Iâm realizing after the fact, didnât have the most clear cut reference image so heâs more variable.
Sometimes I got better results putting in more than one image in CREF, which can help you better match the side profile of another image of the same character.
We have Matt LaBlanc at home.
wow! epic work! mind blown. I can't even imagine how much putting this together took. Thanks for sharing! As the tech gets better, more control will make this process even smoother. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!!!
congrats on actually doing a narrative as opposed to a montage of unrelated pretty videos
I second this.
Most AI videos I've seen are not stories at all. This actually has an arc and is interesting. I really appreciate that.
We are so getting there. Great Work!
Absolutely incredible. I am truly stunned. i was completely hooked by this, and I give you high praise. I would love to see this possibly lengthened in the future! Truly, truly incredible.
Thank you! Appreciate that a lot
Excellent stuff! What a great story and beautiful, haunting cinematography! Well done.
Thank you! Appreciate that
This is soo good đ, mustâve taken a long time. I believe thereâs an adobe effect which lets you almost drag eyebrows up and down which would really help with expressions of discomfort or fear etc but I canât seem to find it đ đ¤
You can do it using liquify, bit fiddly but can be useful on still scenes
Wow, i am amazed
Watched it on YouTube. Black Mirror vibes! I thought it was great, AI video of the year for me. đ
How much did it cost?
Iâm lucky enough to have access to some of these tools for free, but Midjourney costs me $30/month, Magnific I think my annual subscription was $300, and Topaz around $300 total.
u/TheReelRobot this is pretty great! did you use AI for the script or audio?
I wrote the script without using any AI, but the soundtrack is all Udio, and Iâm using ElevenLabs for the voices with speech-to-speech.
The voice results are waaay slower and emotionally subdued than my actual voice acting attempts, so that partâs annoying
That is amazing. I'm impressed with how things are progressing. The story reminds me a bit of ex machina.
Full movies by early 2025 it seems like.
Yea Iâd say a slightly better version of a short like this by then. Maybe an actual interesting feature 3028-2030!
That looks amazing well done lol.
This is really great work truly amazing stuff this is the same workflow Iâm using for my first Short film, though Iâm not using anything for the voice acting, those will be done by real people other than this is really it. We are getting closer real soon.
I just want the rule 34 movies this will give us
...for a friend
...the friend is my penis
This is amazing!!! I take it this not for beginners?
The techniques arenât as challenging as you might think. If you learn Midjourney and Luma, youâre 90% of the way there.
What takes a little longer is figuring out how to work with the hard limits of AI. Iâm cheating a lot by using sound design, choosing certain shots to do I know will work, and editing to make it engaging enough
Not cheating. Just progress. As people like you make these projects, developers can know where they need to involve more AI so that youâre doing less of the manual work. This is incredible.
Looks stunning!
That was excellent! Very impressive, wow !
Amazing!!! Great job!
This is real progress. Thank you for sharing.
This is actually really good. Got me hooked!
Bravo
this is CRAZY
That was, immersive. Lean into more supernatural stuff and baby you got a hook.
On a lighter note, if you could make a bloopers real having the creature say âPray. For. Mojo.â thatâd be the bees knees.
I am hooked. (Eats popcorn)
Very cool - loved it - Iâd be curious to understand the process to product something like that. If you have any pointers thatâd be great
I create an image in Midjourney â> I use the CREF and SREF parameters to get character consistency and style consistency, like the cool blues or the yellows depending on the scene â> upscale in Magnific on most character images â> I bring the image to Luma Dream Machine and turn off âenhance promptâ and write âvery slow zoom inâ or a slow camera movement prompt for dialogue scenes â> I do voice acting in ElevenLabs and smash my face on the keyboard as it comes out slow and emotionless no matter how hard I try and act â> I bring the voice and video to Runway for lip-sync â> create soundtrack in Udio
Thanks so much for sharing !!!!
Incredible
Amazing job, congrats!
Holy shit! One of the most captivating edge of seats previews I've seen in a while.
Did AI generate the music to?
Thanks! Yes, all music was made with Udio
broooo!!! iâd hands down watch a full length feature of that. incredible. gave me chills!
From what I've read, AI art can't be copyrighted. How will you affect the business side of an AI studio?
For IP ownership, itâs tricky. You likely canât copyright the look of a given character here, but can copyright the story and the video itself (high human touch across editing and sound design).
But a major studio wouldnât be ok with the uncertainty or lack of hard lines on the characters as IP
Definitely, I believe once major studios start developing charters with AI , their lobbyists will start working on getting laws changed. Merchandise sales are too lucrative for them to not.
Yeah I wouldnât be surprised if those laws changed tomorrow. Thereâs too much money on the table
For one I think it's still an open question if that will remain true and for how long.
And if it is true that pure AI outputs can't be copyrighted, then they are essentially public domain assets. Editing together those assets into a new work would mean that the entire work can be copyrighted, the same as any other public domain assets. He still owns the script, story, characters, etc. for this short.
I can't wait to upload my favourite books to a movie generator and watch Hollywood level productions!
Are you saying we can finally fix GoT season 8?
How would you address nuanced acting notes in the close ups?
Iâd like a full length early AI feature of wil smith eating spaghetti
The consistency of the characters baffles me.
Love It!!??
Still kinda looks weird with live action, but this would be perfect for animated movies & tv. Buncha weebs are gonna be making anime at home very soon. Also I wonder how easily AI would be able to translate comic books / graphic novels / manga into tv shows.
Looks like a cutscene for a video game.
Now letâs find some people whoâd want to watch these âreal moviesâ
Does anyone realize this is going to kill millions of jobs. Please donât start liking completely mindless fodder that a robot stole from us to begin with.
