Been invited for dinner by two lovely people who go out of their way to cook stuff for me that I can digest (lots of new food intolerances), and I don't have the energy to get them a thoughtful gift beforehand. AGAIN. Just showing up will be challenging enough, lol.
Maybe we can brainstorm together? I'm talking dinner gifts, birthday gifts, and maybe even holiday gifts. Preferably not gendered.
Things I've already tried/thought of:
Giftcards: buying about 100 random, second-hand giftcards turned out a success.
Case of good wine: is often well-received (because: alcohol), but as someone intolerant of the stuff, it's a bit odd to gift.
Luxury foods: might not survive collecting dust in high humidity on my shelf for more than a year...
Gifting books: gave out a few copies of my favorite book once on x-mas (Haemin Sunim). Aftermath: they didn't seem to like it... One person went out of their way to tell me how the book DIDN'T help them with their mental issues (ok...?).
Luxury, environmentally friendly soap bar: got a lot of 'meh' responses
Currently stocking up on thermal socks and cozy heating pads for the holidays in advance (hella cheap now). I thought of children's toys, but they're often so age-specific...
Any more ideas?
Edit: I'm not from the US
Edit: Holy hell, this post literally got 200 comments! I got pulled away for a while, will respond to you guys tomorrow <333333333
