A few photos from this past weekend, featuring my recreation of Ansel Adams’s “Monolith” from the exact same location
PicturesDefinitely challenging but super fun. We took Mist/JMT up to the Snake Dike approach so we could bag Liberty Cap on the way, then followed the ledges route up for some exciting class 3 and exposure. Barely saw anyone the whole time and had the Diving Board to ourselves. The ledges sketched us out for the downclimb at our current skill level, so we opted for the slog down toward Broderick and followed the cairns back to the trail.
Were the cairns easyish to find on the way down?
Very easy to find. They're everywhere. Only time we got a little lost was back down at the slabs west of Lost Lake, but we barely had to backtrack 5 minutes until we were going again. Definitely would not have wanted to climb up that route though. So much sand.
Very helpful, thanks!
There’s another easier way, but it requires some bushwhacking.
This shot is perfect. Upper and Lower Falls! Gorgeous. That’s for sharing
first picture, perfection, where exactly where u located?
That was from the benches just north of the bathrooms at the start of the Lower Yosemite Falls Trail.
Thank you so much!!
Lower Yosemite falls trail
Love that monolith. I feel like if I ever am gonna get to summit half dome again I'll have do it by soloing snake dyke.
That 4th photo is incredible 💯
What is the second waterfall?
That is Nevada Fall!
Gorgeous! Thank you!
Beautiful pictures. With the new reservation system, I was wondering if the park was crowded and if shuttle wait times were long
How was the trek up to the Diving Board?
