I am having a problem with a website where files in media library appear blank. This happened after I tried to add a featured image to a post then all the features images attached to the posts dissapeared and do not show and media files appeared like in the image. I have tried deactivating plugins, theme, updating wordpress to different version but nothing seems to work. Do you guys have any idea what it might be causing this ?
seems like a good solution but I did not have that file in the upload path. also mine is runnning a older wp version
What errors are showing in DevTools Console?
unfortunately no errors shows on the console otherwise I could have had a clue :/
Having the same problems too. Searched the debugger, all my media files are 404. The site was working well yesterday. I didn't change anything.
Same here.. All media files 404, can't see any images on website, all links are broken
So I did what another user said, and saved/bakcedup the .htm access file to my computer, then renamed it on the server side, to .htaaccess-backup, all imagss are now working.
Scary that this could randomly happen. Anyone know why?
I will try this one
Yup, similar to this one. I renamed the existing htaccess file and made a new one. I got the process here: https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/wordpress/reset-the-htaccess-file-to-troubleshoot-wordpress-php-errors/
A user said to delete the htaccess., but I was scared, and since I am not an IT person, I looked for a lesser extreme alternative. This fixed my issue.
make sure permissions did not change on the uploads/ folder also check on all versions of your plugins. and your site host to see if there is any notice for changes.
recently for all my clients i needed to ban all PNG images that were larger than 2MB because of source image leaks. web images should fit with in 1mb. also i notes some plugins for optimization breaks some images.
Seeing the same issue on my own site. New files uploaded are immediately broken.
*edit* From the wordpress support forum, "Deleting wp-content/uploads/.htaccess worked for me."
