Hells Canyon of the Snake RapidsRafting - Private

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a little input from this community about an upcoming trip to the Hells I have planned at the end of June. My wife is going to be about 5 months pregnant and is on the fence about joining. She isn't worried about camping or being on the boat, but she is considered about a flip at one of the bigger rapids.

Has anyone here run this section of river before? Wondering if it is logically possible to walk any of the rapids from the scout points and hop back in the boat on the other side.

Is Dagger Kingpin 6.3 an okay kayak for someone 6ft tall?Kayaking

I'm trying to get back into the sport, I am just over 6ft tall and right under 200lbs. Weight seems good, but how much should I worry about my height while kayak hunting?

A river watch?General

What watch do you recommend for keeping in/on my PFD? I have a nice wristwatch with a dial, but it’s not meant to be submerged. I don’t want an iPhone watch, as I don’t carry my cellphone with me anyways. I’d like a watch with utility. Maybe elevation, etc. and most importantly keeps accurate time without me having to wind it up and reset the time before every trip. I looked at Garmin watches and quickly became overwhelmed.

Any recommendations?Kayaking

I recently just got a Jackson rockstar 5 and couldn’t fit into it with my astral shoes on but fit perfectly in booties. My booties won’t go over my dry suit feet and I can’t use my astrals in my play boat so are there any recommendations so I won’t ruin my dry suit?

New River Upper Lower Overnight 29thGeneral

I'm taking my boys for their first run. Because we're only three i had to pay for another. If another is interested it's all paid for and booked with ACE. We'll be strolling in on the 25th

What kind of padding/foam can I use for to protect my knees from the side of my boat?Kayaking

I used to have foam in them that protected my knees from the hard plastic but they fell out at some point. I have no idea what was used in there before but I’m looking for some ideas.

What’s the most efficient and safe way to get into whitewaterGeneral

I’ve done quite a bit of research and reviewed a few different guides/videos but they seem to be inconsistent.. Where should I start with whitewater boating, and what is absolutely necessary to be safe while doing it? Are there any necessary trainings I need to take beforehand?

OG vs CodeKayaking

Considering getting a new creekboat and I am torn between an OG and a large Code. Curious to get other people’s thoughts.

Currently I paddle a steeze and it is just a bit too spicy for when I am paddling near my limit. When I think creekboat, I think boat that takes care of you and allows you to paddle the hardest whitewater you can. It will be the boat that I will use whenever something is at my limit whether it’s creeking, big water, or just general river running. For these reasons I narrowed it down to OG and the Code. If you were me which would you choose and why? I can get each for similar price so it just comes down to how they paddle.

Puffy Steeze vs StokeGeneral

What are people’s thoughts on both boats? How does the Puffy Steeze paddle compared to the Stoke? I have a GOAT and like it but it can be a but spicy in bigger stuff. I hear that the Stoke is just the Steeze and OG combined, which sounds sweet, but I hear people raving about the Steeze all the time.

Anyone here done Great Falls in VA/Maryland? Kayaking

Kayaking trip in France and solevnia-drysuit?cag?Kayaking

I am going to France and solvenia in three weeks. First time there for paddling. I normally wear drysuit all year around, but I have been told I would be overheat in a drysuit in France. However, I checked the weather forecast in southern France . Is it like 16-20 degrees?

I shall add I am very easy to feel cold, and alps water sounds freezing 🥶

UPDATE: Thank you, everyone, for the advice. Think I will just take a cag. I know the easiest way is just taking both But we have packed a lot for paddling and other things. so I am trying to take only what is needed.

Update: I will take both, never thought about the part being safety, and I almost certain I will feel cold from it.

Rafting guide, back problem.Rafting - Commercial

Hello guys!

Season will start in central Europe, I have 5 trips behind and I'm planing to do around 120 till the end of September. River is technical, small, between 10 and 30 qubic m/s. A lot of rocks, a lot of paddeling. I'm around 185cm with paddle 165cm and I guide Gumar raft or Avanti 400 raft. I'm sitting on the right side of the boat.

Does anybody have some advices, how you do it all season? I already feel the pain in lower back on the left side. The trouble muscle is called Quadratus Lumborum I think.

Do you exercise a lot during the season? What exercises you do? You do yoga? How you sit in the boat to rest your back the most...?
