There are a fair number of idiots who will proclaim loudly to anyone who will listen, that since he failed, that they would rather vote Republican or 3rd party than for Biden again.
"IF ONLY BERNIE SANDERS etc etc AND THAT'S WHY I WON'T VOTE FOR not Fascists who tried to do what I wanted but got stopped by fascists"
I've seen it so many times today
I figure that maybe half of the people spouting that aren’t real people, or rather aren’t being paid to say that crap, but the other half actually believe it.
the people who say "ILL VOTE FOR TRUMP" are usually fake
the people who go "I WONT VOTE//IM VOTING FOR JILL STEIN" are real.
Unfortunately I know about two people who did voted for trump because they couldn't vote for Bernie. The only possible reasoning I could come up with for why they would do this is, they were young and grew up in conservative culture but were developing liberal ideals as they saw more of the world. That and they were kind of dumb.
There were more of these people than media acknowledged.
I know some of them are fake. I used to play this game where I would go to the Bernie subs and look for people trying to encourage others to not vote for Democrats like this, and then checking their post histories.
A shocking amount of those people would do this with the same accounts that they use to actively post on far right subs and t_d.
The Bernie subs just eat this shit up.
The other one I see is lots of gaming and sports posts from a new account, then a bunch of political posts.
I wonder how much is the IRA testing out new accounts with gaming and sports posts.
Who is IRA? Irish Republican Army?
lol that's exactly what I thought, the fucking Irish getting blamed again like usual.
Internet Research Agency. Putin’s Russian troll farm that exists to do things like influence elections.
Someone told me a while back that some subs require karma, it’s a fast way to get it
Those people weren't going to vote in the first place tbh. They always wonder why progressive policies have a hard time getting passed and have not just no understanding, but an incredible misunderstanding of how this democracy works. It's people more interested in posting on twitter and reddit roleplaying as political activist as they ignore the actual systems in place to make change happen.
There are issues with the system and in some places voting is harder than it should be. But at the end of the day voting, involving yourself in local government, and actually engaging in political activism in the real world will always trump posting some virtue signaling bullshit on social media for likes and applause from other dipshits who agree with you.
People have been drinking the "Hurr Biden dementia" koolaid a bit too long now. Or forgot what it was like to have a president that wasn't a scumbag human being.
Leader of a country trying to improve people's lives and getting overturned by the opposing party = giving false hope?
These are the fools who are so beaten that they cheer for their tormentors, hate those who would act to help them.
Stockholm effect
Trump made many people believe that the President is all powerful
Trump made many people believe that the President is all powerful
He only made stupid people believe that.
Everybody getting mad at him for trying to enact student debt relief, because Republicans stopped it, are just so self-defeating.
Yeah, hate the people who tried to help you. That'll show the people that actually stopped them from helping you.
[Democrats try to enact legislation that will help people]
[Republicans ignore precedent in order to overturn the law]
Idiots who don’t vote: “Democrats are just as bad as republicans because they never do what they say they will.”
RIGHT. In America we have a party that isn't good enough, and a party that is actively harmful. Neither side is "perfect" but one is clearly preferable to the other.
Nevermind the fact that the “party that isn’t good enough” is only ineffective because stupid people complain about their ineffectiveness instead of voting them into a supermajority.
A republican got into an argument with me one time cause I said sure both parties are made up of rich people but only one of them is trying to policies that benefit the people and he says to me that I’m only voting for them because they throw me a bone. I was like so confused here and like had to put my phone down cause I just couldn’t comprehend that line of thinking.
"Democrats are throwing you bones, but we republicans want you to starve! So vote Republican!"
Option 1: don’t get a bone. Option 2: maybe get a bone. This is a super hard choice guys
option 1: stale bologna sandwich
option 2: 30 wasps
And the bologna sandwich isn't even moldy most of the time but so many people still pick the fucking wasps just because a stale bologna sandwich isn't appetizing to them
Like what the hell do they think they're going to get out of the wasps
I will take bologna please.
Really option one is more like get broken glass.
And blamed for breaking the glass.
By then Republicans will have found a way to win the support of the younger generation.
By win the younger generation you mean gerrymander so bad that its impossible for democrats to win.
Always this. It's easy to control people when you take away their rights, but it's even easier when they think it's their idea.
I may be in crippling medical debt with a low paying job, but at least the republicans are making it hard for dudes to wear dresses in public. Amen.
/S
But 18 years old are totally ok to take on thousands of dollars in debt.
And join the military.
Shit, you can join the military at 17. You can literally sign away your life before you can even vote already.
You can operate a car at 16 (or 14 for farm permits) which is a deadly machine (road crashes are the number 1 cause of death for Americans under 55 years old). But we don't allow them to vote at 14 or 16.
The US has always been hypocritical. Anything that allows a person to be used by the system is totally permissible to the young. 14 years old can do farm work (which is the 8th most deadly job in the US). 16 years old can drive with 2 tons of steel to a job, where they pay taxes, to work for a corporation. 17 years old to go to basic training so you can die at the ripe old age of 18 in wars they couldn't even vote to prevent. But for some reason Republicans think they can't actually be trusted to vote until 25?
God I just HATE when politicians try to represent their constituents. /s
They view politics as a team sport, if your sports team's rival team offered you some free tickets to a game, would you switch sides and start supporting that other team?
I mean...maybe? How often are they giving me tickets? Are they calling out problematic and ineffective players and missed fouls on their own team, even when it advantages the competition, just to try and walk the walk? Are they investing in my community by sponsoring school teams and building parks and holding youth camps?
Are they doing all of that while that first team implodes because no one plays on pride night, they call each other little bitches in the media over personal disputes, attempts to sabotage their opponents flop in every play and trample on the rules while blaming it on the refs and the other team, AND completely ignores the community whose taxes paid for their stadium?
Yeah...at that point I might just switch teams.
viewing politics as supporting a sports team belies a lack of understanding of the role of the citizen in a democracy, a lack of understanding of politics in general; or at best a lack of understanding of the real consequences of political decisions.
while this sports analogy may be a good explanation of behavior or description of events in a 2 party system it is evidence of a deeper and larger problem. A public that doesn't understand what the government is, does, or their role in society cannot perpetuate a thriving democracy as we know (knew) it.
"You're only voting for them because they do things you want them to do!"
Why yes, this is how a representative democracy works.
I’m only voting for them because they throw me a bone.
In the last two Republican presidential administrations. Hundreds of billions of dollars in tax money was transferred to business owners, millionaires and billionaires.
How much did the Iraq and Afghan wars cost? How much went to US companies?
How much did Trump give away in tax cuts, almost 2 trillion. How much was given out in PPP?
Throw a bone? Shit the next time a Republican is president we all need to figure what fucking scam he is coming up with to feed the 1% so we can get in on that money. Because these assholes are throwing the entire printing press at the rich.
Those are the same people that insist voting doesnt do anything and then let the good candidates get absolutely steamrolled in local elections.
Trying to get people to give a fuck about down ticket elections is so hard.
A ton of people even vote in only the presidential election and then don't vote for any senate or congressional race when they are right fucking there.
Watching the presidential race count in 2020 next to the senate races in the same state was rage inducing. So many people turned up to vote for Biden and then filled nothing else out on their ballot.
Trying to get people to give a fuck about down ticket elections is so hard.
Too many people think the solution is that we just need a powerful and clever leader at the top to strong arm drastic changes through outsmarting, bullying, blackmailing, or overriding congress and the supreme court and if they just get the right person in, everything will be made better.
When you think like that, you care less about congress, state, and local elections. Grassroots, bottom-up is a lot of effort, let's just pretend we can easily solve our problems via the presidency and when it doesn't happen with the current one, focus all of the blame on them.
So many people talk about FDR and LBJ forcing through their policies, leaving out that they both had huge supermajorities in both chambers of congress. They both also did lots of bad things that would cause these same people to cancel them before they ever did the things they liked.
"But I voted for the right king! He even won! Why aren't things I wanted happening all the time?"
A significant portion of the electorate thinks this way.
Not just local elections. Some of them don't even bother to vote for the president.
There’s a more direct reason. The one single-issue voting block that never waivers is the bigotry vote. There’s only one side of the fence that accepts that and now it’s their whole platform.
There's comedians I listen to where their go-to subject is how terrible the government is and nothing will ever change.
It's so infuriating how many people feel the same way these do. The only way things change is if you go out there and make the change. Just being defeated and letting things get shittier is a terrible way to live your life.
Well republicans have spent decades beating that “government doesn’t solve problems — government is the problem” drum, so it’s no wonder that it’s burrowed into our collective psyche.
There's comedians I listen to where their go-to subject is how terrible the government is and nothing will ever change.
I'm more annoyed by the "centrist" comedians who think highly of themselves for peddling the idea that because both sides are full of dumb people that somehow makes the sides equally bad.
Republicans decided that demonizing their opponents and the very idea of government was an effective campaign strategy.
Amazingly this has actually worked pretty well for them.
Definitely not only because of that, there's plenty of assholes, schemers and corrupts there. But as said, at least they care more about the general welfare, while the other actively tries to destroy it.
Agreed. There are a lot of valid criticisms to be made about certain democrats, but the party platform as a whole is still very preferable to the alternative.
Bro please don’t let me start a rant on this beautiful Friday evening.
I easily side with the imperfect party that means well and attempts to legislate over the party that intentionally doesn't legislate or govern for the good of the people. It's such a no-brainer that I have no patience with media-fed idiots who can't connect those dots.
I see leftist comments way too often that amount to “there’s no candidate that stands for everything I stand for so I’m not voting until then.” One, that will never happen unless you run yourselves (and honestly, you’d probably get talked down from some things by your advisors). Two, you’re basically giving your vote up to Republicans. Three, don’t you fucking DARE complain about anything political. You gave up your privilege to complain when you didn’t fucking vote. Just don’t sit on the sidelines on your little purity path you created and complain.
I heard a great description of voting: it’s not like a marriage, it’s like a bus. You don’t wait for your soulmate, you pick the candidate that’s going to get you the closest to your desired destination.
you have to earn my vote 😤
Ok we literally tried to do what you want and it was blocked because we don't have unlimited power over the opposition
well now I'm definitely not voting for you 😤
At this point i am 100% willing to say definitively if you can’t decide between democrats and republicans you’re either stupid or evil. It is a startlingly simply choice
I don't know. Personally, the well meaning friend who accidentally burns a cake they tried to bake for me in my kitchen sounds exactly the same as someone actively working to end my existence.
It's more like the friend who baked a cake has a douchebag roommate who took the cake out of the oven early and sat on it so that you cant enjoy it.
Also, one party will defend any degenerate on their side like a cult
Well said
Republicans just get into office to bitch, destroy the very government they work at, fling middle fingers at poor folks that voted for them, while manipulating them into thinking it's the other side doing so.
This logic is driving me mental.
Person A - gives me $100 Person B - Runs up steals the $100 and then runs off into the night.
Then I’m supposed to be mad at person A. “Why didn’t you protect my money.”
Like what???
More like
democrats: try to help people
Republicans: try to take rights away
stupid people like Nina Turner: why would democrats do this to us.
Haven't you heard? The Democrats don't really want to help people. They want to make it look like they're trying to help people, but secretly Joe Biden and the majority of the party are purposefully being ineffective (and I guess also purposefully having an extremely narrow majority and then split congress) so that nothing gets done. That way they can appease their corporate overlords while placating the gullible masses. And the only people who are brave enough to tell the truth are Nina Turner and a bunch of Bernie supporters on Twitter (though not Bernie himself).
/s
I’ve already seen brainless comments bringing up Bernie, like this is somehow what we get for not making him president.
As if he somehow would be immune to the lengths the right will go to to sabotage Democrats and their supporters.
But but but "bIDen OLd"
Republicans are assholes.
These fucking idiots are something else.
This is my father to a fucking t. Makes me want to rip my hair out.
You hear that exact argument all over this website.
also republicans roll back so much shit that dems have to renact them when they get into power so they can't really enact actual new stuff thats good, so its constantly 1 step forward during dem time 3 steps back during rep time, that the cycle is constantly repeating
I met a guy at an airport who didn’t vote because “they were all the same”. I really want to hurt him physically right now .
no diff than red states shitting on welfare when they are the biggest beneficiaries.
Good news! His administration has another trick up their sleeve! https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/student-loan-forgiveness-update-biden-b2367549.html?utm_source=reddit.com&utm_source=reddit.com
Once again, I don't give a damn that he's boring and I am only partially frustrated by his age.
It matters immensely to me that he is COMPETENT, and that he knows how to enact backup plans.
You mean boring, competent government that aims to help the citizenry may be better for long term policy making than narcissistic chaos and grifting? Weird.
My god…isn’t it nice to only think about the president like maybe once a week? Instead of waking up every morning thinking “Let’s see what kind of trouble President Fat Lex Luthor is trying to stir up next?”
I've been saying this too ... though not as entertainingly phrased! :D
This and more importantly he has people around him that aren’t evil and or fucking idiots!
He may be all of those things but he's also outsmarted Kevin and Moscow Mitch at almost every turn.
Hopefully it goes through. I’m worried some random *sshole will sue again and the Supreme Court will use the opportunity to repeal or seriously weaken the Higher Education Act too.
Pretty much. I don’t hold out much hope that anything will be improved for this country until either this court is ignored, packed, or replaced. They’ve already shown they don’t give a fuck about the law and completely ignored that the plaintiffs didn’t have standing.
Some of the conservative justices are getting up there in years, so it’s only a matter of time. We just have to hope we have a Democratic President and Democratic majority in the senate when it happens.
I can't tell if these people are stupid, conservative trolls/propagandists, Russian instigators or disenfranchised progressives.
I have one here going HE ONLY DID IT FOR THE MIDTERMS! and then when I said they were trying another method he immediately got negative about that, too.
Some of these people just absolutely don't want Biden to help people. They are rooting for failure.
Politicians doing things to get my vote seeing as I am not wealthy or a corporation is basically the only representation I actually get.
I'll take that every time.
I want to scream at my fellow gen-z'ers who won't vote because the two-party system sucks. It does suck, you're not wrong. But usually, the Democrats suck way less. Keep voting, people!!!
Yeah, it'll never suck less for them if they don't participate. Nobody cares what they have to say if they don't vote. That's how you get representation.
People who think the two parties suck should also get involved in primaries so that they can turn that suckiness dial.
There's no choice in the general election. They're important too, but then its not a vote for sucky or not sucky, its a vote for fascism or status quo.
It’s the only response to “I shouldn’t have to vote for the lesser of two evils!!” Okay, I agree, so what did you do about it in the primaries?
💯💯💯💯
Life can suck but we still have to put our shoes on and make choices every single day. When the choice is once every 2 to 4 years, and it's between fascists and Democrats, I honestly don't understand what the gnashing of teeth is over other than hubris.
Consistently taking out frustrations on the people trying to help us by electing the assholes who are holding us down is how we got here.
Voting Republican is a vote against yourself unless you are a billionaire. Not sure if that's you? Check your bank account, is there a billion dollars in it? No? Then you should vote Democrat.
But, what if I'm planning to become a billionaire one day through good fortune and luck? Oh, okay, vote Democrat until it happens? Got it. Wow, this is easier than people make it out to be!
:-)
Hey now! He found the smartest guy he could to actually try and fix things. Don’t slander him like that.
Though I will point out the accuracy of the movie in that Trump nominated the CEO of Carl’s Jr to the Cabinet… so there is that….
Dude, president Camacho was waaaaay smarter than republicans. He knew to put the smartest guy to handle the problem and got out of the way. Then when he saw it was working, he didn’t try to be a little bitch and kill it.
These people are just fucking morons. And it's sad that there are so many of them in the USA.
We've normalized Republican obstructionism and corruption so much that people just always assume it's the Democrats' responsibility to clean up the mess, and get mad when they don't.
Nelson Muntz: Stop punching yourself!! Stop punching yourself!!!
Republicans call him Sleepy Joe, incognizant, brain dead, can't think for himself. He just knocked it out of the park.
So let me get this right America.
Biden goes to enact a campaign promise.
Gets all the way through despite the GOP trying to shut it down only for GOP and Trump appointed Judges to say ha ha fuck you, we 6 don't like it because we are paid for by the opposition.
Reporters and GOP. ITS ALL BIDENS FAULT, HE DIDN'T DO WHAT HE PROMISED
Are the people who ask these questions and the population who say its all his fault fucking thick or something? Why are they not blaming the Judges? Is there actually any point in having a President when 6 people from the opposition can just overturn anything he tries to do?
I am not an American so this is a really weird way to run a country.
I am not an American so this is a really weird way to run a country.
That's because it's not supposed to work this way. The Supreme Court is supposed to be apolitical. Thus why judges are appointed for life, so politics and reelection won't be things that color their decisions. And it wirked for a long time. Then the GOP realized this is a way they could maintain power while they became less popular. Slowly they introduced judges who would be affected by politics, religion, money and when RBG died they performed their coup-de-gras by ramming through ABC. And now we're fucked because the minority literally controls perhaps our most important part of the government and has weaponized it.
Yeah this is why I thought to ask. Even though I am a Brit, I do try to keep up to date on things around the world as best as I can really, especially over the pond as I have friends over there, plus when things happen there, it tends to impact here as well but since Trump, all I seem to see is things going backwards. Religious extremism (which is weird as they used to say how primitive and backwards it was in other countries), mass science denial, blatant open corruption, mass train derailing's, almost daily mass shootings, bridge collapses, mass open bigotry and hatred, people flying bloody Nazi flags, politicians coming out openly with Qanon conspiracy theories of "Jewish Space lasers" and you have a President that basically cannot enact anything despite winning and the opposition openly fucking over the population and telling the country "look what we did, we stopped Veterans getting help" or "next year we want to ensure schools have no kids meals" and then you see on the news, its all the Presidents fault and half the population all go on Twitter and agree with it?
Surely given your previous leader is being charged with espionage etc, the supreme court judges he assigned are coming out as basically taking bribes and hanging out with Nazi collecting sugar Daddies, but there is no law that can gave them removed for basically open corruption?
Joe Biden can’t do anything is a myth.
He’s actually surprisingly effective, even progressive in many respects.
He got shit for breaking the railway workers strike but turned around and helped negotiate to get some of their demands, and the unions ended up thanking him.
Many commenters think Biden’s problem is that he takes blame for his failures but doesn’t really tout his own successes particularly loudly.
Now, I’m not saying we’re all roses over here; the US is having issues. Right-wing extremism and authoritarianism is on the rise across the West, but of course that doesn’t excuse that it’s happening in the US. And I agree that things seem to be going backwards a bit.
That being said, I’m not ready to go full doomer quite yet. MLK Jr. said the arc of the moral universe is long but bends towards justice. That doesn’t mean it’s smooth though.
He got shit for breaking the railway workers strike but turned around and helped negotiate to get some of their demands, and the unions ended up thanking him.
It is worth noting only four of the unions did that, union leadership admits in the very article you provided members of those and the other unions were not happy, and it only granted a whopping week of sick pay.
Only in America do we consider a week of sick leave a massive progressive leap in workers rights, and the nature of the unions mean the smaller unions have less say. This is obviously problematic.
A week of sick leave is great but most people in developed nations either don't keep track or offer 3+ with parental leave for both sexes, and then also vacations.
Agreed that Joe Biden doesn’t get everything progressives want done and that the US still has progress to make. I just wanted to point out that Joe Biden isn’t this completely ineffectual failure that people seem to think he is. I posted about good things because I’m refuting that he’s a totally ineffective failure.
If someone had said he was an infallible god leader, I’d have pointed to things he’s done wrong - or more likely, dozens of other people would have beat me to the punch. But he’s also a Democrat so I think very few people, even his supporters, think of him like that.
Love that quote from MLK.
American here: any policy that doesn’t advance the interests of capital or Christianity should be struck down by any means necessary.
as an american, i want nothing more than to die while working in hazardous conditions because of unpayable debt. all for the name of christianity and trump.
And truck nuts. Don't forget the truck nuts 🫠
Yeah.....I have seen pictures of those. I know you guys are a bit, how should I say "truck obsessed" with larger the better (you would have a hard job driving one of those big ass ones around town here) but Gender assigning nut sacks dangling off your ball bars is umm. A bit weird. Oh I know, as they are ensuring their trucks are gendered, call them "Trans Trucks!"
Kyle Kinane does a joke about gendering trucks that sticks with me lol. "Shocks and Struts"
Ah yes, the dream of our forefathers.
Are the people who ask these questions and the population who say its all his fault fucking thick or something?
Short answer, yes. Long answer, also yes.
Are the people who ask these questions and the population who say its all his fault fucking thick or something?
They are all actually just Republicans. It is a common lie to say you are Liberal and then say some anti liberal shit.
In America there are 3 sides.
Republican.
Republican but don't want the label.
Democrat.
We have literal screaming matches about this multiple times per day. The problem started with Ronald Reagan making it a moral imperative to devalue education 43 years ago, and this is what we’ve become. Literally half of us have to repeatedly try to explain basic civics to people who’ve been taught everything they know by Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity.
Remember, Republicans WILL stop Democrats from helping people because Republicans feel that helping people is immoral.
Unless it’s helping themselves, of course.
Republicans feel that helping people is immoral
Correction: helping POOR people is immoral. The rich get handouts subsidies and tax breaks, the poor get fucked.
It is gross how after all of this time the narrative is always how Democrats fail and not how Republicans obstruct. Democrats aren't perfect by any means, but literally all of the backwards, bigoted, and bad laws being passed right now are being done by Republicans.
Gotta love that liberal media I keep hearing about.
Republicans act like the ghouls they are; media: "How do we frame this so we can blame Joe Biden for it?"
It’s a repetitive pattern for the past few decades.
Conservatives do something=“why didn’t the democrats stop this!? I’m voting republican now!!”
Then there’s
Democrats pass generally popular legislation=“they didn’t do enough, so they might as well have done nothing! I’m going to vote republican!”
It’s endless
Republicans always vote. Democrats don’t.
Jesus Christ could run with a D beside his name and Republicans would turn out in droves to vote against him. Democrats need to be convinced that their candidate is Jesus Christ in order to vote for them. Every time.
"Democrats need to fall in love, Republicans know to fall in line" goes back to the 80s, maybe earlier.
The reporter was from Fox News. That’s the opposite of liberal media.
every time I looked up today at work hunter biden was on fox.
(I don't get to choose all the channels)
I watched that live.
Biden was visibly pissed off by the question. Love dark Brandon! 😎
Edit: Found a video that included the question and Biden’s reply. Regrettably it’s on Fox. Probably means the lady asking the question was from Fox. https://www.youtube.com/live/D289Bjjm54c?feature=share
Is this a real question and Biden answered as quoted?
If so that puts any ‘cognitive decline’ arguments absolutely to bed in my book.
That is an eloquent and damn sharp response to have off the cuff.
It was just like that, though I think there may have been an additional sentence there.
The lady was really sharp and harsh as well. Not the normal WH decorum.
Yeah, I too was impressed with his immediate and clear reply.
This needs to serve as a reminder: whatever your issues with the Democrats, the Republicans cannot be allowed to win. The Democrats are the party that believes in civil rights protections, student loan forgiveness, Medicare for all, and doing their fucking jobs. Republicans are the party that loathes all of those things.
Swallow your issues with the Democrats and vote the Republicans out now. We can worry about everything else later.
Thank you. Say it louder for the people in the back. Ive been saying for years we need to cool it with the culture war and focus on actual policies because right now they’re being stripped back left right and center.
I am the last person in the world to be a Biden fangirl, but he gave me no false hope. $10k off all degrees and $20k off of degrees like teaching-- that's an amazing compromise between full loan forgiveness and telling people to eff off. The benefit of paused repayments during his andmin has been a lifesaver for me, I was unemployed for 6 months and can't find a job in the field I got my degree in. I'm still 100% for full forgiveness, but at least Biden tried. Republicans are all about joyously fucking over the younger generations.
but at least Biden tried
He did more than try, it was actually going to happen until a certain two individuals and the collective Republican party decided to throw a tantrum.
Direct the anger towards the Republicans and the "supreme court"!
What kind of shit question is that???
“Why did you try to do a thing everybody wanted if there was opposition to it?”
Be mad at the people who shot it down Wtf
I lost my shit when the reporter asked that smdh.
Do you know what outlet they were from? Seems like shit stirring.
I voted for Biden but wasn't a supporter I voted against Trump. President Biden can't get any credit and gets blamed for everything it seems to me. I think he's done a pretty good job considering the people in Congress he had to work with. What Trump has done to the GOP is dumbfounding. Most all of the ones elected now have sold their souls and are calling bad behavior good. Plus they do it with a straight face unashamed. .
Who was the reporter that asked this question? What news agency do they work for? I saw the news conference, heard the question but have no idea who it was
Jacqui Heinrich, Fox News
Ah, Fox "News"
There it is.
Thank you dragonfly. Not surprised but I appreciate the confirmation
…did a reporter really ask him that? Seriously? Was it from Fox or Newsmax?
Anyone trying to turn this around on Biden instead of against the scotus and republicans are misled at best, disingenuous at worst
God damn it. Why are they twisting this shit to be Biden's fault? They're the ones who blocked it!
Literally just vote enough republicans out and we could do it. Like i know people have this idea that the democrats just use republicans as an excuse to not pass anything but if you take away their excuse they’ll either have to pass it or risk losing.
What a stupid fucking question. Frankly, it didn’t even deserve an answer.
What an insane dialogue that could only happen in America. The fact that hope is such a naive emotion in America is saying something.
And Americans will blame the democrats because we are in an abusive relationship with our government.
I’m mad at the people who blocked it.
Can someone genuinely explain America to me? I don't fucking get it. I am a pretty well off middle class white person from the Midwest and I cannot understand how people support Republican agendas and how we tolerate all the bullshit that goes on.
I was raised a very strict catholic, but how can people possibly put crazy religious ideals over reasonable reality?
I am as frugal and fiscally conservative in my personal life as they come, but how does a conservative party think raising taxes on people over 400K isn't an OK and fair thing?
How is it acceptable for the highest judges in the land to accept fucking donations and gifts from people who clearly have agendas to push? I hardly even go out to eat with suppliers because I even vaguely have the appearance of decision making authority at my job.
It's OK to bail out banks and forgive PPP loans for.. "sake of economy", but we can't acknowledge the post HS education system is fucked and expensive and those people probably deserve help?
Are we just fucked? Where and how does this end?
I'll drop some honesty here. I grew up and still live in the south US. Was raised republican because that's how my folks and family were. Idt I even voted the first few times I was eligible to after turning 18 in 98. The majority of my friends at that time (and I still hang out with these folks today) are democrats/progressives). It honestly took me hanging out with them to start breaking my viewpoints that I was raised with that were harsh just to be harsh and looking back, they were all wrapped in basically a "bigot" mentality.
As I broke through my own perceived notions (thank you weed, mushrooms, lsd, and extasy) by engaging in more and more conversations and meeting more and more people, I became apathetic to our governing system, my vote doesn't matter, 2 party system sucks, BOTH SIDES (caps for emphasis lol) sucks, and neither care for my well being. So I decide I'm voting 3rd party period, fuck em all.
Now this happens, and I see in real time, one party is actually trying to give some actual help to me, the little insignificant mfer in the bumblefuck south, and it gets completely shit on by the other side, while they constantly hem and haw about shit that is completely irrelevant to actual life issues. (This is not me saying that abortion or lqbtq+ issues are irrelevant, as they are very much important, but these are issues only because some people can't understand that those dealing with these issues are just regular people who want to live their life to the fullest and without being constantly shit on by people with a "holier than thou" attitude. I fully support a woman's right to autonomy and my lgbtq+ brothers and sisters out there, big love to you all).
I say all that to say this, for the first time in 24, I'm actually going to vote for one of the main parties, and it ain't the mfn elephant in the gd room.
Biden tried to help people, but Republicans wouldn’t let him, so that means Biden did a bad thing, apparently
Yeah, ThE LiBeRaL mEdiA
Oh yeah… let’s blame Biden 🙄
The biggest gaslight is that our higher education debt has almost no bearing on the economic impact of our society.
Like wtf it's been two years of spitballing 30-60 Billion dollars of revenue yearly that is just gone. I don't advocate for full loan release but student debt has no right to be following a market rate of interest.
There 100% should be a cut to our existing loans whether it's a static sum to make it easy or percent overpaid debt recuperatation after tallying existing payments. Our current education loan infrastructure is criminal and will sink America if we do not change.
He's only telling the truth here and if people are angry it shouldn't be at him. Dude tried, and showed us exactly what happens when good things are attempted.
Yeah I don't get why Biden is receiving the brunt of the criticism for this. At least place the blame where it is truly due: he tried to do the thing and the GOP plants that run the Supreme Court struck it down.
What a monster!
What a dumb question.
The assholes on the right managed to reverse a good thing you’d ordered. Not because it was wrong. But because, to them, it helped the wrong people.
Why would you try to help the wrong people?
I want the democrats to write a bill that if you are or were in office and received a ppp loan you have to repay them WITH interest
Reporters like this are the fucking worst and they're the only kind that get DC assignments. It's all snide insiderism, tough questions for the democrats and zero pushback on conservatives while you cede the narrative to the far right and call it objective.
Hope is EVIL! /s
Trump grabbed democracy in the snatch and committed treason by attempting to overthrow elections. Fuck Republicans
Hillary Clinton proposed a reasonable plan for student debt forgiveness that Wall Street was ok with. Bernie Sanders proposed a plan for more student debt forgiveness because billionaires are evil and should be punished. Young people refused to vote for Hillary because Trump and Hillary and Trump were "the same." Trump got elected, he appointed three conservative Supreme Court justices, and now no one gets any student loan forgiveness. (Well, Biden did manage to help a few people where he could, but it's not what people here wanted or needed.)
We saw what overturning Roe did for that “Red Wave” at midterms sooooooo 🤞🏾
Fuck this reporter though. They did not even try to sound unbiased with that accusatory question.
Biden hasn’t been perfect but this is clearly CLEARY the corrupt bumfuck evil corporate boot licking republicans doing exactly as promised. Vote, organize, adjust purchasing decisions, exert social pressure on people who feel justified to parade hate filled beliefs. They can’t keep this up forever, we will win out in the long game if good people resist the apathy and nihilism. Please
Put blame where blame is due and deserved. Republicans deserve all the blame for ruining the lives of everyday Americans. They deserve the blame for destroying the American dream. They deserve the blame for ruining the future of America and the futures of every American as Republicans have consistently dismantled and disavowed each and every piece of legislation that would have improved everyone’s lives. Republicans are to blame.
Republicans are still responsible.
Who was the dick reporter who asked that?
Man you guys are so collosally fucked. ..I'm canadian and im not on some high horse but...wtf is going on down there?
Your leaders are concerned about mickey mouse being "woke" and who is gay and drag queens ?? Jesus..who fucking cares...
Just another sign of how standards are INSANELY different for blue vs red. …and I’m not even a democrat.
As i understand it, as someone who lives outside of the states. The democratic party is trying to turn the USA into a democracy, like ones in Europe with universal healthcare and a focus on helping the worst off in society.
Like dept relief, universal healthcare etc.
But since the Republic party believes in a more capitalistic world, where is your own fault if you are poor. They try getting votes by making life worse for people and blaming the democrats for being useless, and if people vote GOP everything will get better (MAGA). As someone from the outside I haven't heard about anything the GOP has tried doing that would make it worse for the rich and better for the vast majority of people. (tax the rich. Dept relief)
Please tell me if I'm wrong in thinking the GOP gets votes by the suffering of people.
I hope this finally ends the Republican party
Fun fact: Biden can now use the Higher Education Act of 1965 to partial/fully forgive student debt. He had that option from the get-go.
That should be the next step if he's committed to helping. But like most establishment Dems, he won't. They get the kudos of looking like they tried when they weren't wedded to the notion, despite it being a campaign promise.

Here's a silly thought Donald Trump refused to accept the results of the Presidential election. What if we just ignore the Rulings of the Supreme Court? Will they send enforcement agents to make us bend to their will?
Both parties are the same right guys?
Although Bidens efforts were really and truly to help free students from student loan debt, ultimately it's a band aid over the real issues - that tuitions keep rising and outpacing the wages of the jobs that require those degrees.
From here on out the supreme court shall be known as the supreme cunts.
If I promise that I'll be at your birthday but literally as I'm just 1 minute away someone shoots me in the stomach it's not MY fault for missing your birthday.
I genuinely don't understand that line of thinking. Biden isn't responsible for people stopping him from doing good.
The United States of America is like a lake, where two rivers, flowing in opposite directions, meet and churns.
And everyone is drowning.
Republican scum
And his administration is already trying a new angle to help people.
It’s crazy how every time the democrats attempt to do something good and it gets shot down by republicans the democrats somehow get blamed 10x more.
Democrats: propose something that’s a net positive for society
Republicans: “yeah that ain’t happening” vote it down/challenge it in courts
The media: “wow why did the democrats abandon America? Do they hate us? Is it time for a strong republican leader to set things straight?”
Yall want this shit cancelled just stop paying. Create an emergency.
Leader of a country trying to improve people's lives and getting overturned by the opposing party = giving false hope?
