This reminds me, I used to buy many rubber erasers as a kid and carve them with a blade into little coffin shapes. I'd hollow out the inside and use that chunk of eraser to carve a mini corpse. I used to have so many and I remember selling them to my friends and I'd get requests to make little corpses that resembled them. The teachers all knew but none of them were bothered. My history teacher went so far as to ask that I make one for him, I didn't get that far though. Good times. Your dad seems to have the same hobby but in a more polished and expensive way. That's some quality craftsmanship there and I like that they are closed with a latch instead of nailed shut. You could use them as cool little storage boxes as well. Looks like a fun place to keep fishing lure or small trinkets. I can imagine myself whipping out a little coffin on the boat to hook.
This made absolutely wonderful and fantastical reading! Thanks so much for posting this. Have you ever shared it with this sub as a main post? I love the older English language used and just totally enjoyed this. 👏
Hi. Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve always thought it was such a fun piece of Scottish spooky history. I think I’ve shared this in reply to someone a long time ago but never as a main post.
my father helped his uncle, who was an undertaker, when he was young. when i was about 6 my dad made me a coffin in the garage that i could fit in. it was how they used to make coffins, in the old days, out of solid wood. needless to say i grew out of it...
wow, there are too many comments to reply to! so i decided to do it all in one. lots of you are super funny and made my dad laugh, others think too much into it! its not a serious thing for humans, its just something he thought would be the perfect amount of strange but cool. to give as gifts for those who you just don’t really know how to shop for? he appreciates all of the love and it would make him crazy happy for people to purchase his beautiful coffins. he does this for fun, he likes people thinking we are the odd bunch. i am linking his site for those of you who are interested in purchasing! we just got it up and running but haven’t gotten the items listed yet. we will be doing that soon! thank you everyone. https://gravelymorbid.com
Does he do commissions? I am probably going to die one day.
