There are plenty of claws set just weak enough to drop on the way up, so sorry nostradameous you can't say for sure he would have.
I played these claw games with my nephew a lot. They will grab it, but when it gets to the top & it jostles or bumps and then drops it somehow. It seems like while it's being lifted it's holding it better. He probably was just tired of the ball always dropping out of the claws before It got a chance to be released into the chute.
That's so true xD
Is there like a lore reason why you are being downvoted?
Idk but you are too
Idk the lore but most of these substanceless “most underrated comment”-tier comments go straight to downvote prison
At this point I downvoted my comment too, just in case. Oh and your comment got a thumbs down too.
It's more like inside the box! I'll see myself out.

I would say it is thinking with the box
Lads they were clearly outside the box when they started thinking
He outsmarted the system and now he's on the fbi's watchlist
Isn't there a motion sensor precisely for this cases ? I remember seeing them long time ago even, as a metal rod hanged through metal ring, and if you move the machine too much alarm went off...
Hiya, i work in arcades. So few things why this seems abit staged, so yep youre correct they will alarm for a start. Also, the wheels have latches to stop them rolling or moving easily (like big outdoor bins do). Typically machines are also lined up side by side too so you wouldnt have the freedom of space seen here. And finally theres staff and cameras and youd get kicked out (not for 'beating the system' btw, we love to see people win! Idk why everyone assumes otherwise tbh, the real reasons are because being rough with and potentially damaging machines is exspensive and dangerous)
If all arcade owners loved to see people win they wouldn't set machines up like this one to back the pressure off the arms 2 seconds after grabbing.
He’s not the owner, he’s just a worker.
They need to be paid back for the merchandise inside. Otherwise it would be a guarantee they would lose money every time and there would be no arcade to play crane games lol
95% of the merchandise costs less than the quarter dollar being put in by each user. They could up the winning % and still come out ahead. Bastards.
Mario, Pokémon, or any name brand item plush is over $2-$3/piece easy. Just saying. Some places are extra dirty though
I like hearing about the economics of cheap crap.
What? its not chairty, they have to cover costs and make money or it wouldnt last very long would it, the owners have to be able to cover elecrtic bills and wages etc. Businesses HAVE to make money lol.
Typically youll find claw machines set to around 20-30% payout rate which is a good balance of being profitible but for the buisness and decent win rates for customers.
AND we do also have 'win everytime' claw machines which is literally what you describe you just have to pay more to play..because again...its a business not chairty.
It's advertised as the aim of the game being, make the claw hover over the item you'd like. If you get it right with the right angle, you win! Except you don't because am element you have no control over with open the claws once you grab it. And these games generally are for children. Make it difficult to win, fine. But do it by setting the claws so you have to hit an item right not so you need to be in the 28th percentile for that machine.
So i agree with you, but its worth pointing out its very common in gaming and gambling for some games to essentially be two 'games' in one, with a mini game of luck if you win you get to test your skill and if you win that you get the prize. It can be seen in casinos on slots and roulette etc as well as in lots of arcade games and essentially thats what the claw machine is, you need to both get lucky and use skill. Like i said i agree that it should be more skill heavy not the other way but yeah i dont make the rules. Also its not really so unfair when you consider you can potentially win a £30 retail value plushie for a 20p a play if you got really lucky. And it happens, ive seen people win 2 in a row on their first play more times than i can count! Every day i have to refill the claw machines even in off season when its not busy we still lose a few a day. So its kind of like entering a lottery. And there are specific win everytime claw machines too where its £2 not 20p to play but youre gauranteed a prize and remove the luck and lottery side of it. And if you just REEEEAAAAALLLLYYY want the plush, you would get better deals ordering online lol, dont go to arcades for bargins. Arcades are somewhere to have fun and make memories. Like everything these days itd love it to be cheaper but it is what it is
Don't be shocked. Reddit is full of people who think everything should be free for them.
Increase the gripper strength.. I've tried to grab a toy 20 times it wouldn't grab hold of it. Its a scam.
Im in the UK so laws may differ to your state in the USA, but typically here in the UK they are set to around 20%-30% payout rate and potentially higher if the prizes are old stock/out of season. Theres also an element of random chance thrown in so its possible to win twice in a row. I hear alot of people say "you cant win" "its a scam" bla bla bla, and thats just not true. You absolutely can win, and if you figure out what the machine is set to payout at then you can win very reliably and predictibly.
It is NOT a skill game so i cant really give tips ...that being said theres one thing that may help - go for the prizes nearest the hole. The claws are design to losen their grip and be janky so its likely to drop the prize. The further your prize is from the hole, the more likely it is the claw will drop it before reaching above the hole But i have no idea what the rules are there so may be totally different.
i don't buy that "we love to see ppl win" bullshit, srry, but the claw aways open when it gets to the top, so it's almost impossible to win this, since some (not all, i really hope so) machines have a set amount of tries to actually get you a prize, it's just a casino game out of the casinos
What if I told you that arcade workers and arcade game designers are different people?
Well thats the truth, doesnt matter if you buy it or not. Its one thing to say "ive had a bad experience so i dont think they liked to see people win" but to tell im bullshitting when im just sharing my perspective...fuck you. Hell, if i see people putting in a lot of money and they dont win i straight up go get the prize and give it to them. I love my job because i get to make peoples day like that. Who are you to tell me im lying? Cunt. Obviously its business and NEEDS to make money otherwise the bills and wages dont paid so forgive us for not givig everything away for free.
Things can work differently in different countries, though
Any tips on winning legitimately?
Its largely down to luck tbh, that being said the further your prize is from the drop hole the more likely it is the claw will drop it before reaching it. So go for prizes nearest the drop hole.
Or if you can figure out what that particular machine is set to then you can win realibly like oh its around every 60-70 plays it pays out, etc
Thanks!
I just tried this in my local arcade. Worked just as shown in the video
Cool story mate, let me get the gang and we'll clap for you
that's what's called : "thinking outside of the box"
Those things usually bound onto the floor to prevent this level of smartness
What's that thing made of paper mache?
Wheels on the bottom
He didn't even want the ball. He just wanted to show the hack and give justice to all of us who've been screwed over by those machines.
wait all this time?!
That's what that machine deserves.
The owner of that machine was probably not pleased with that
Not his first rodeo
The accents! They are from Naples!!!
Look like he’ll win either way.
Very good
He’d definitely done that before
When the soccer ball is lost. The boys enter chat.
But the claw picked it up.. he was going to get the ball without flinging the machine anyway..
Nope. They pick it up almost always on claw machines nowadays but after it lifts it the grip releases. It's basically on a "lottery" system like slot machines and if it's "time" for a winner the claw won't lose its grip automatically. Very high lose to win ratio.
South italians
Wouldn’t he win anyway?
luv those shapes
It was already a guaranteed win. The claws actually closed
Bro WANTED that football 😭😭😭
Physics moment
I feel like these lads are Irish lol
I miss claw machines that weren’t set up to screw the player every time.
Considering how these things cheat people. FUCK YOU MACHINE
Gaaadamn boi that shut was smooth like butter
An object in motion tends to stay in motion 🤓
Not sure where this is located, but when you move that machine it automatically voids, and you can't get the door to open to get the prize.
Boss
Tactical manoeuvre
ayo....
Brilliant haha
Guys... it's Naples Italy.. i needed 1 second of heading the guy speak to know.
Tf did he say
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
I've always felt that claw machines are designed to not catch things properly 🤔

Sometimes it will have a strong grip to lift it up then let it loose before it moves over the drop zone.
Science bitch
Got'em.😅
Thats why these machines are mostly bolted down now… kids fucking around to get the prizes. The machines aren’t rigged, they are set up so you don’t get the prize each time, otherwise, the operator would go bankrupt quick. Do you expect to win the jackpot at the casino slots each time you play 🤷🏻♂️
Womp Womp
That's exactly what "rigged" means
That sounds a lot like a rigged system to me.
Does your employer make money with his business? Yes, than by your definition his business is rigged… simple as that.
Operators running these machines what to make a profit, otherwise, they would just buy the soccer balls and give them out to unwanted, bastardized kids 🤷🏻♂️
Every business exist to make a profit at the end of the day, you don’t like it, don’t play the game and think it’s rigged. Operators will still have customers if you and all your friends say you won’t play their rigged games 🤣
What's the point he's going to get the ball anyway I don't get it
You can set the “grab” strength to grab items and also set the “home” strength when it goes to drop it off. It probably starts to slip out when it’s on the way home so he got the prize by tilting the machine during the grab portion which holds on tighter. The legs should have been put down to prevent this
It's a scam machine that holds tight as it lifts the prize but drops it when moving sideways.
Well. That's staged as hell, 100% But I've done that before and not gotten kicked out, so maybe it isn't
This is why we can't have good things. I bet this is the guy that passes you right when a big rig is coming the opposite way, just barely making it.
