A journalist in my city shared this HILARIOUS joke on his public work account. It’s so funny, because women are just baby-machines, right?
The entire post could've just been one word, "ironic". He was really stretching to make the post longer than that.
But if he’d just written “ironic” it would have been harmless and honestly kind of witty. But no, he felt the need to expose his misogyny like you can’t help someone if they want to dig their own grave
HONESTLY. He could have made the exact same joke without hurting anyone or exposing his client.
He could have made the exact same joke without hurting anyone or exposing his client.
Why is it even his fucking business? Like do your job & stfu already.
I would have chuckled tbh. But nope had to go the asshole route
"ironic" is also a Star Wars prequels meme, bro goofed hard, missed a huge opportunity
He gets paid by word count?
Shhhh. Four syllable word. You’re confusing him!
My first thought
DoorDash should fire this guy for this post
"Door dash should fire this guy..."
into the sun.
Yeah, for real. This is a nonsense agreement comment it's so unnecessary but I feel your addition and I'm too invested in this at the moment so yeah!
Right into the fuckin sun!
cough [email protected]
EDIT: cough also [email protected]
I'm also legally required to say I'm sharing this for absolutely no reason whatsoever just a completely random fact about door dash that popped into my head now and I have ADHD and boom there it is no idea how that happens. Also it's probably a crime to share protected health information. If someone worked for my company and was talking about delivering pharmaceuticals and having opinions like this, I'd consider it a risk and probably against whatever social media policy my company has. What else did he do with that customer's information?
I'm not putting up the bat signal on cancel culture here, perish the thought. I'm just thinking of the bottom line guys. All those profits that are in danger if people can't trust Door Dash to deliver their meds or fair reporting of the news from a guy who has opinions like this shared so freely. Think of the children dollars.
Ty for this, hopefully DoorDash cares that one of their Dashers is intentionally using his platform to make customers feel uncomfortable ordering contraceptives.
A journalist of all people should know better than this. Honestly, it'd be a public service if he was fired from both jobs.
EDIT: Actually...
You're so real for this. Emailing them right now, hope they kick his dumpy greasy ass directly into hell where he belongs. <3
Thanks!
I tried to find a way to message DD online through customer support and couldn’t find a way. But I think I saw someone on the city subreddit say they already did
I'm on it fam. I've got e-mails for door dash and the news station he works for.
The news station won’t care unfortunately, he’s made stupid “jokes” like this before with no repercussions. But Doordash should know at least
Valid. idk i'm just trying to do my part. o7
Tell them you'll contact their sponsors or any company that advertises with them. Gotta hit them in their wallet.
Yup KATU in Portland, OR is owned by right-winged Sinclair media and they don’t give a fuck about posts like this and probably actually encourage them
Competing station might care, just a thought?
Correct. As long as they aren’t owned by Sinclair, who unfortunately bought up the majority of the news stations & newspapers in the PNW
ETA: looks like KOIN & KGW aren’t owned by Sinclair
That really sucks because that definitely doesn’t reflect the culture, at least not when I lived in the PNW 8 years ago
💯 the majority of the “news” in the PNW has been whittled down to AI written articles that push the conservative agenda and it’s quite sad.
They really should. I'd be afraid the guy would just refuse to deliver this or pretend the store didn't have it and contraceptives like this are extremely time sensitive if you need them.
I'd never rely on a 3rd party to deliver something so sensitive and time sensitive. My ass would have ubered to the closest store if I had to.
Different people have to operate under different circumstances. This might have been the only way they could obtain a plan B.
Why? There's nothing to identify the customer, and, to be honest, I'd have never thought of using DoorDash to get Plan B and it sounds like a really useful thing for customers to know about.
Way more useful than using them to deliver fast food.
Because it's sexist and shames people who don't want to have kids. It also discourages anyone from using DoorDash for an emergency like this because what if you're the next person who fuels some bigoted asswaffle's need for asspats?
Asswaffles need for asspats is iconic
What does he think counterproductive means? If you're not trying to be pregnant it plan b is pretty productive to me.
I think he's going for irony, but probably doesn't know what irony means. He's not a very good writer tbh.
If he's going for irony, then it's like a kid in middle school English class being asked to write an ironic statement after learning what irony is for the first time.
Irony is like rain on your wedding day!
This is pure brainrot, how did he likely walk into a medical aisle somewhere, see MEDICINE, and go all “abomination” on it
Because the early 2000s brain rot (plan b/morning after pill also known as "the abortion pill" dun dun duuun )* is probably still strong in this judgmental assholes brain.
* * * * *
*Not that abortion is in any way a less valid choice. It's just not the same choice.
It says a lot about YOU that you are reading abomination into this silly post.
No, it says we can read. The dude bluntly says that preventing pregnancy on Mother's Day is wrong.
Mike, is that you? Blink twice if you need help
What?
That could be someone who’s already a mom, has her hands full, and doesn’t have the capacity to handle another kid.
Or even more succinctly, it’s just no one’s business. No need to speculate the situation
Agree, but I think they are addressing his assumption that using birth control is somehow an anti-mom activity lol. It’s ridiculous because moms also use birth control.
That was exactly my point, thanks.
We can speculate that a man somewhere fumbled the pull out
I mean, women don't get themselves pregnant
Typical clumsy women tripping and falling onto ejaculating penises
Anyone who is trusting the pull out method is deluding themself.
I used Plan B once when a condom broke, though.
And sadly I suspect an awful lot of Plan B is used for nonconsensual sex, or for drunken unprotected sex.
But it doesn't matter. Someone was at risk of an unwanted pregnancy and took responsible steps to prevent it.
Trusting in pull out is like chopping food while holding in your hand.
That unfortunately common use for Plan B makes the tweet even more insulting.
The way people make negative assumptions on peoples' grocery deliveries is so wild. I remember an Instacart post about a guy labeling his order "Best Wife's gift", a cake and some flowers. One of the comments immediately accused the guy of being a lazy husband, can't be bothered to pick it up on his own, etc. Awful.
It's funny cause that used to be the romantic thing I would see on TV as a kid. One Partner has flowers or a gift randomly delivered to the other during the day.
It's still romantic!! My partner was out of town and I was having a meh day and they sent me flowers out of the blue. People are just jaded
tiktok has rotted so many people's brains. they're like "if your partner isn't doing parkour kick-flips into a perilous ocean to retrieve you an oyster's pearl on a daily basis, they actually HATE YOU"
"if your partner isn't doing parkour kick-flips into a perilous ocean to retrieve you an oyster's pearl on a daily basis, they actually HATE YOU"
Oh, no! My boyfriend only does this for me on weekends! 😆
Awe I'm so glad to hear it and I'm glad to hear you have a sweetheart who did that for you!
Maybe he was busy cleaning the house or setting the table or any number of other things.
There are a thousand scenarios of what it could be and a woman doesn't have to have kids for her need of plan b to be valid.
The most common one I think is that a man was stupid or malicious, or may be in the future.
Yup or a young single childless woman who had a fun night and she or her partner accidentaly made a mistake because we all fuck up sometimes. Either way, it is so completely none if his business.
It's slightly ironic that it's being ordered on Mother's Day, but judging for it is just silly. Maybe the hubby goofed during Mother's Day sex, and obviously delaying getting the emergency contraceptive wouldn't be a solid plan.
I thinks it's almost a third of women who get abortions are already mothers. But conservatives don't understand this. They literally cannot conceive of a situation where a woman would want or need an abortion unless she was just "some slut who can't keep her legs closed"
Funny, I had him blocked (probably for even more witty posts). Hope he gets fired from both gigs 🤞
Yeah he’s said stupid shit before. He called Asian women in a story about a Halloween store “fun size.” And did a story about a BBQ place saying the woman had “a face for BBQ” …she’s Black.
I feel like he’s not even trying to be offensive, he’s just an idiot with an incredibly lame sense of humor. He sucks lol
The pro natalist propaganda feels dialed up as of late. No, billionaires we don't want to make babies while life is getting collectively worse for everyone so you can afford gold plated bidets. Seems like a shit deal.
I got my tubes removed on Friday. The nurse wished me a “happy never gonna be a mother day”. It was fantastic
Counterproductive is exactly what we’re going for here. Why do we have to be productive? Not everyone wants to produce babies.
I do door dash and literally got a plan b order yesterday. I was of mixed feelings. I was happy I got the order, as I'm happy to deliver it... and sad remembering posts I've seen where people tried to order plan b, and their dasher refused to deliver it, making personal choices for complete strangers.... this post does not instill great confidence in people to me. People need to lean to mind their fu*king business.
@KATU should also fire this guy. Why is he posting about a side-gig from that account? Also, this is beyond gross on so many levels.
They're Sinclair, they won't fire him.
They'll probably be proud of him for working every second of the day.
Edit: and for the misogynistic social media post
Any consequences for posting this on his official account?
✅ Bear
I work for a competitor of that parent company, and if one of our journalists posted that, they'd be gone within the hour. Sinclair will probably give him an award for writing a story about it
Ah, it's a Sinclair station. I hadn't considered that, it's not really a thing here in LA, thanks.
What makes you think this is an official account versus someone who is uncreative and uses their employer as part of their handle?
Even more reason for the station to act!
The guy does work for a conservative owner (Sinclair), so I guess it’s not surprising the employees are as bad
“Counterproductive” to what? Patriarchy?
To unfettered control over all uteri
Hey Mike! Maybe if you were a decent journalist you wouldn’t need a side gig. Nobody gives a flying fuck what you think🥰
ITS MOMS DAY. THEY GET WHATEVER TF THEY WANT SO SHUT UP
I reported it to corporate
Doordash? May I ask how? I checked online and couldn’t find a way to send a message to customer support or the admins.
I pretended like I had a problem with an order and followed prompts as if it was not specified
Ohhh nice lol
What the fuck is wrong with you, person who initially made this post? For real, I have so many questions. Like, how the fuck is it your business what your client is buying on what day?
Is this even legal? It probably is because America. (which like..... Even saying that I still have to be grateful for a lot of what comes with living here, isn't that sad? Not that I am compelled to be grateful, I genuinely am.)
It still feels like an invasion of privacy. Like if Taco Bell posted on social media every time someone ordered too much for one person without knowing how many people are being fed. Or if your school posted bits of social media poking fun.
I can't stand people! I'm a TA in real life and I just wanna make so many damn people sit out from recess and do worksheets. AND I'M TIRED OF HAVING NO REAL DISCIPLINARY OPTIONS AT SCHOOL, TOO!
How is it an invasion of privacy to know that some random person in a neighborhood used DoorDash to get Plan B delivered?
Because it isn't anyone's business. I gave examples if you're having trouble capturing the feeling.
Because delivery drivers are not supposed to advertise on public social media what they’re delivering and making shaming comments about the items. Kinda like how grocery store employees shouldn’t comment on the food you’re buying at checkout, it is none of their business.
Why are you so hellbent on defending a dude for shaming someone who doesn't want to get pregnant?
Because I don't see where he is shaming anyone.
because it’s nobody’s business what anyone else is buying on DoorDash whether you know who they are or not. it affects you exactly not at all and means nothing to you other than to have ammo with which to judge someone you don’t even know. hope this helps!
Look at my posting history. I've used Plan B.
Sanctimonious cunt!
Not his goddamn business!!!
It’s almost like women enjoy sex too. Omg, what a revelation /s
I’m kind of excited to learn that one could DoorDash Plan B to be honest, good for the Pacific Northwest!
It does definitely check out that working for Sinclair media pays so little that one needs a side gig also unfortunately.
Ewwwww. What a twat.
I'm 19, if I order that o line it's because I'm scared of public shaming. Thanks man. Ugh
How much do you want to bet he's just bitter because he's not getting any?
Gross of this dude to judge others’ orders. Your job is to deliver it, not post it online.
A journalist doing door dash is quite sad.
Also, the real crime is that plan B does not work during ovulation and should not be being called "emergency" contraceptive.
I dunno, I think it's kinda funny to be delivering Plan B on Mother's Day.
And he didn't overly editorialize it, didn't say "why would a woman not want to be a mother", just pointed out the irony.
why are you all over this thread dickriding this shmuck. lmao mike is that you?
Wow, I've really brought the asshole brigade out tonight.
What’s funny about it? What’s the joke?
And he didn't overly editorialize it, didn't say "why would a woman not want to be a mother"
"The most anti-Mother's Day thing ever. Contraceptives delivered on Mother's Day seems counterproductive."
I know the words are big but you can read.
So should all women taking contraceptives skip them on Mother’s Day??
KATU? Ten bucks says this guy lives in Snohomish
Portland, OR — KATU is also owned by Sinclair
I read it as him being deliberately dense: "If you've already had the kid, it's a little late for Plan B."
If this is indicative of his writing ability I can see why he needs a side gig.
