If they are that important to keep in mint condition, why not wear other pairs? Especially since most shoes that people don’t want creased are just expensive, mass produced shoes that aren’t rare in any shape or form.
Why do people wear shoes that they are worried about creasing?
Culture & SocietyWhat does looking rich and culture have to do with not wanting your shoes creased? What kind of mental gymnastics is that
Does the rest of the class know what I’m talking about
I’m with you bro. I’ve bought shoes I didn’t wanna crease before. I had my first paycheck from my first job and bought some Penny Hardaway high tops in money green. However, I was also 16 and it was the first day of school.
I know people who never stopped doing it. Funny thing is leather can be warmed up to relax the crease. Just have to be careful with your heat source.
I’m sure the hobos standing behind the 711 knows.
No creases + clean = “New”
Rich = can afford “new” outfits often
Because they're materialistic.
Taking care of your stuff is materialistic? Hmm interesting take.
Humans wear shoes because it helps our anatomy. An evolutionary tool. Wearing expensive shoes to flaunt is being materialistic.
Hmm ok. Agree to disagree. Keeping our clothes and shoes nice and clean is materialistic. Got it. Nothing else needs to be said.
You're welcome 👍
I didn’t thank you for anything but now I am. Thanks for the free entertainment. Usually you have to pay to see clowns.
Lol I did it to anger you and it worked. Take some college classes to learn how to debate
Hey. I didn't go to college and I can debate way better than that.
The definition of materialistic: "excessively concerned with material possessions".
There is no opinion here. That is the meaning of the word.
If this is you, then you are materialistic.
Many people are materialistic.
If anyone gets butt hurt over knowing they're materialistic, that's a personal problem.
How very obtuse of you.
How dare you assume my angles!
Is it really an assumption when presented so strongly?
Takes one to know one!
Aren't you embarrassed to take a suggestion of being materialistic personally? Like you could have said nothing, and no one would have known. Look, if you're materialistic just own it. Who gives a fuck. And then that's just one more thing you get to own. Win win!
Here. Let me spell it out for you child. OP says why do people worry about their shoes creasing.. people respond with dumb ass shit like being materialistic and it’s some kind of “fad”. I am just responding to the idiots claiming that because for me and I think most people as well don’t like to crease their shoes to make them last longer. If people don’t understand that reasoning and are stuck with it being some fad because they can’t even afford nice shoes and have to go to goodwill and get hand me downs that already have creases people need to.. OWN THAT ONE. But don’t sit here and generalize people saying they are materialistic because they take care of their stuff. Now on the flip side sure you have some people that take it too far and walk on their heels and take their shoes off whenever they get in the car so when they drive they don’t crease their shoes or put a plastic bag over their shoes in the rain yeah that’s a bit silly but again there were no specifics mentioned other than people in the comments just blatantly thinking people are materialistic because they want to keep their shoes looking nice lol ridiculous. You might as well walk out of your house with your shirt and pants wrinkled at that point. Just sounds like a bunch of jealous out of touch lazy bums to me.
Funko pop behavior.
Knew you could’ve come back from that one. Gotcha. Nothing else needs to be said.
Dude, that’s like the definition of materialistic. “Being mindful of your products”
aka:
worrying about dirt on the things that separate you from dirt, is materialistic.
This was the first time you actually presented a nuanced take in this thread. I've been downvoting the fuck out of you, but this one gets an upvote.
Pretty big leap between "nice and clean" and caring about creases...
No one said nor even implied running around looking like a bum; but if your shoes are so special and important that you don't want them creased, don't wear them... because when you wear them, creases will inevitably happen.
That's all the OP said, and it isn't at all a stretch to say that insisting the natural wear of shoes not occur while you wear them because they must stay pristine so you look nice is pretty materialistic...
How you get from there to everything being dirty and grubby... THAT is a stretch, and a pretty big one.
Why is that one guy going mental in the comments of this thread LMAO.
To answer your question, because that's their function. Sure cosmetically they might not want the shoes to get creased but if they want to wear them what other way is there?
They want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to wear their shoes out to show them off but have them never get worn.
They're idiots.
You must not take care of your stuff. How in the world is that idiotic to want to make sure your clothes and shoes are kept nice for as long as possible?
The crease bullshit has nothing to do with taking care of your shit. It's an unrealistic expectation to wear shoes without a crease forming. Acting like a crease on a fucking shoe is important is something childish assholes do to make themselves feel important and shit on other people for something that happens naturally.
It's like trying to shit on a pitchers who's baseball glove is broken in for not having a stiff unusable fresh off the shelf from Academy mitt.
Not having a crease in your shoe means that you don't even walk around enough to fucking need the shoes much less obsess over them.
If your aspiration in life is to get carried from your private jet to your car by your bodyguard because you're scared of creasing your new kicks, you're not dreaming of it because you have a hard on for taking good care of your shit.
I could care less what OTHER peoples shoes look like. I’m sure there are some kids out there that make fun of people for creases and all kinds of stuff. Kids do that. But me personally I try to preserve my shoes and have them last as long as possible. So to each their own. It’s the same thing with my phone. I don’t know how many chicks I’ve dated or friends I’ve had that go through so many phones because they break them. I’ve had almost every single iPhone since the dawn of time and guess how many I’ve broken. 1. And it was just the screen which I got replaced. Idk man I just take care of my stuff.
Do you walk without bending your feet? How does one avoid creases?
Same reason people lower trucks.
It's because they're stupid.
Taking care of your stuff is stupid? Wow. Good one man!
Ooo ya, buying stuff you'll never use is just so smart!
Waste is never good.
You’ll never use? Who said you wouldn’t use it? Dude you’ve lost your mind. Learn to read better and don’t assume.
They're athletic shoes.
Last I heard "pimpin" isn't athletic.
What. Are you. Talking about. I’m so lost.
How can you properly use your feet if you can bend them properly because your shoes will crease?
Golly that’s funny most of my shoes have hardly any creases at all except for my 2-3 pair of dailies. And whenever you are done wearing your shoes they have things you can put inside them near the toe box to “iron out” any potential creases they could’ve gotten throughout the day. I just take a long pair of socks or two and stuff them into the toe box to iron out the creases to preserve them longer.
How many shoes do you own?
Around 50 or so.
I buy a lot of sneakers but I wear every pair and never worry about creasing. I feel like this comment section is trying to belittle people who have a certain interest but half of you probably keep your Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards in sleeves.
Same reason people buy action figures and keep them in the packaging
I feel like this is more like buying an action figure, taking it out of the packaging, and then getting mad when the friend you're showing it to actuates the bendable elbow joint.
And tiny photos of rich dudes who play sports on little rectangles of cardboard.
Control issues
Two options: something they borrowed and overly worry about damaging it (for example borrowing a skirt or a pair of shoes from a friend for a party) or getting caught in pressure from peers and buying something too fance for them (example students buying new shiny shoes for final exams)
This whole comment section including you has just lost their shit. It clearly shows yall are broke or don’t care to take care of your stuff.
Shoes are meant to be creased. It's part of their basic function in protecting one's feet when moving.
Agreed. I’m not saying they aren’t. But if you take care of them they will last longer and not look like shit over time.
Gotta get those ForceFields.
The same reason they leave the stickers on their flat billed snapbacks.
To preserve them as long as possible maybe? For me I know my shoes are going to get creased but that doesn’t mean I’m going to purposely do it. I’m more self aware about my shoes because that’s what I’m into and that’s what I like. I take care of all of my stuff. I don’t let shit get ruined.
Go outside
Was outside way longer than you today bud. Gym, 2 mile run and a walk after. 7v7 soccer league starts next week. Way more athletic than you’ll ever be bud.
When did I say I was or wasn't more athletic? You need some help.
I was just getting away from the conversation and the point just like everyone else was. But you told me to go outside just letting you know I was outside and that I’m outside more than you and then took it a step further to prove my dominance and athleticism compared to your chubby cheek, unathletic self.
You have no idea how much time Ive spent outside. You need some help bud. Hope you get it!
Neither do you. So don’t tell me to touch grass. Such a cringe attempt at an insult anyway.
I'm sorry I made such an impact on you. Hope you find yourself.
You didn’t but you think I’m just gonna sit here and ignore it? Lol life don’t work that way buddy.
People downvoting you for this opinion is crazy 😂 Do people not attempt to preserve the things they buy so they last longer? I guess I'm materialistic too because I try not to crease my $30 Reeboks from Ross.
They're downvoting them because they're angrily replying to every other comment on this post that disagrees
Yeah it’s weird. Would hate to see how I they lived and dressed irl. Prolly like bums.
The vast, vast majority of people put on a pair of shoes and go about their day without any thought about creases. Are you seriously trying to imply the entire world, except for you and other sneaker heads, are dressed like bums?
Are you seriously trying to imply the entire world, except for you and other sneaker heads, are dressed like bums?
Seems that way...or they are trying to imply that the rest of the world outside the other sneaker heads actually think of creases or give AF.
You nailed it. Unless it's causing the shoes to have tears or look ratty, people just put on their shoes and go about their day. The average person couldn't care less about creases.
Edit for typo
“Culture” buy expensive thing to look rich mentality same reason people buy expensive cars and don’t drive them, that and they think the resale value will go up (it won’t, it already did, that’s why it’s so expensive)
