Excluding regular characters like Willie.
What's the best foreign accent they did for the show?
Discussion:( No son of mine's gonna be a 19th century cockney bootblack!
"Come poke the monster with a stick! Tuppence a jab! Cmon, queue up lads."
Look at his great big eyes!
Like saucers, they is!
He claimed he was me father he did!
“And I’ll be Gus, the lovable chimney sweep! Clean as a whistle, sharp as a thistle, best in all Westminster, yeah!”
Shut up, boy.
All right, I'm going, I'M GOING!
Kippers for breakfast and St. Swithin’s Day are two things that I thought were just nonsense they made up when I first watched this. Couldn’t believe they are both real things.
Kind of surprised that a 10-year-old Bart was aware of them.
Nope, real things.
Kippers are a real thing, and they are often eaten at breakfast in the UK. Either on their own or on toast.
They do have a strong flavor and smell, so can be a bit of an acquired taste.
They're delicious but your house will smell like an unwashed gusset for days.
You mean it ain’t me noggin’, it’s me peepers?
It’s chowdah! I’ll kill you!
Come back here! I’m not through demeaning you.
I’ll kill all of you! Especially those in the jury!!
Ve Germans aren't all smiles und sunshine!
The Germans are mad at me. I'm so scared!
Ooh, the Germans!
Stop that. Stop saying “the Germans”
Stop the pretending you are scared game.
The others selected me to speak with you as I appear to be the least threatening. Maybe, I remind of you of Sgt. Schultz, from TV's Hogan's Heroes.
I'm Canadian, and quote this regularly
All tucked away down there.
Fresh from the streets of Sussex, they are.
Get Out
🐎🇬🇧 Faaatha, you've made me the happiest girl who's ever lived 🇬🇧🐎
That’s no extra charge.
Love that mid-Atlantic accent…
Don't make me run, I'm full of chocolate
I've got a gut feeling he's around here somewhere.
Isn’t Uter in all of us?
In fact, you could say we just “ate” Uter, and he’s in our stomachs right now!
Wait. Scratch that one.
Come 'ere ya butterball!
I say this every time I have to run
Lol yep
I think he was a Russi voice and hasn't been replaced yet. They got another voice actress for Martin and the twins.
Don't touch me.
Ah the "Just stamp the ticket" man, he never appears for long, but is always funny.
Mah cheeldren need wine!
My last paycheck bounced!
'Oo are you to reesist it, uhn?
Bruno Drundridge’s Australian accent (though I heard it isn’t accurate)
they're incredibly bad accents, that's what makes them so funny to Australians
And yet it was Apu that became controversial.
Dude! It is a fact that colored people need progressive white people on reddit to save them from jokes made by progressive white people. Educate yourself! Bigot!!
Because he’s a ‘POC’ and white Americans get very upset when you make jokes about them.
Its no Bandit Heeler but his attempt is so funny that we give it a pass.
Not even close but I can't tell you how beloved that episode is with us Aussies. I would say Bruno does sound like what an Aussie would sound like of they tried to parody themselves tho. That's how I would put it. Sort of like Steve Irwin
Tobias is offensively bad tho. But that makes it funny. It's like... horrible.
It's an emeergency!
Easiest way to explain it which - bonus! - also helps no-one is: it's to Australian accents what Willie's accent is to Scottish accents.
To my inexperienced ear, Tobias sounds like they were trying to do a kiwi accent.
To me, as an Aussie. Sounds more like... a really bad British cockles thing... no idea what they were going for.
Emergency Aussies say "Em err jen see" Tobias says "im miiiir jen sii
Yeah the accent wasn't accurate, but they nailed the intricacies of "Knifey-Spooney" better than any media made outside of Australia.
As an Australian, the accent is tragic.
Kelsey Grammer's various singing voices, particularly as the crew of the HMS Pinafore and as Pagliacci.
WE SAIL THE OCEAN BLUE, AND OUR SAUCY SHIP'S A BEAUTY
Kelsey Grammer has a legit singing voice. I saw a clip of him on youtube singing one of the best National Anthem performances I've heard.
He’s been in Broadway shows, IIRC.
Almost every actor did theater at some point; at some point in theater they were probably in a musical or two.
More actors are able to sing than aren't. Some are better than the rest, but most are talented and capable.
" put it in H!"
Who are you talking to?
No one, mum! I swear!
I'll "mum" you!!!
Now almost free of mad fish disease!
Tracy Ullman did a more recent sketch show and one of the recurring bits was her impersonating Judy Dench as an absolute menace. She'd stir up a big mess of shit and when caught, would say, "but I'm a national treasure."
No, I am, I know I am.
And two, your change. And we-a thank-a you.
Apu.
So good it got #cancelled.
“I have to go to zee lobby!”
You mean it ain’t me noggin it’s me peepers?
Well that’s just loverly!
Scrolled too far for this one lol.
My favourite squadron is the Nye Mets.
Let us take a relaxed attitude toward work.
"I'll be Gus, the lovable chimney sweep, clean as a whistle, sharp as a thistle, best in all Westminster...."
"...Shut up, boy."
The only correct answer is the Australian episode. Simply because the accents were so so SO bad. It makes me laugh every time just listening to the Aussie characters in that episode.
As a Brit living in Melbourne I concur regarding both countries
If it's in imigincy, sih!
Take her for a test drive, and you'll agree; Zagreb ebnom zlotik diev!
What country is that accent from?
It no longer exists.
PUT IT IN "H!"
Mayor Quimby's nephew Freddy. [wink.]
Shau-deir!
Ok, Frenchie!
No, I don't think we'll be telling them that.
Choke on it!
Crikey! You gave me a smash on the noggin' last year.
“You don’t have the cobblestones!”
Andy! 🇦🇺
Oy, gents. What’s the good word?
Oh you picked the one where the Japanese are litterally drawn as yellow? You know who else hated the Japanese? Nazi's. /j
Did the Nazis speak German?
Of course not. No one who speaks German could be an evil man.
Awesome-uh power!
Can you do any less?
“Let’s talk chief! Why not?”
Can I slog off school tomorrow? Got a pain in me gulliver.
Anything relating to Barts obsession with Victorian Britain
And I'll be Gus, the loveable chimney sweep! Clean as a whistle, sharp as a thistle! Best in all Westminster, yeah!
I am a new tie vearing
Vearink.
Bonjour, you cheese eating surrender monkeys!
"Potaaaaaaayto man!".
Or Homers portrayal of a new Irish cousin character on Friends "Soooo yer alll doin' each other ....Well who's gonna put out for ooooold Sheamus "
I'd have called 'em chazwozzers
Grounds Keeper Willie’s “Bonjoure. Ya cheeses eattin surrender monkeys”
It’s usually the English accents. “Oh look, a little bird”
Stupid party. Wish we was trick-or-treating.
KVIT CHANGING ZE SUBJECT. VER IS UTER?
Ohh, ve just vant closure 😌
The British accents are pretty atrocious
Yeah, and they did them loud enough it was precocious
Expialidocious, even
As it in the people or how the people are represented
The accent just sounds wrong. In the same way that if I did an American accent, it would sound weirdly generic or incredibly regional. The Simpsons actors seem to think everyone in the uk is a posh cockney
Bart Simpsons office! hold please!
Chow-d’air? Chow-d’air? It’s chow-duh. Say it right!
Nevvyyyah!
900 dollary-doos?!
Chazzwozzas
You think those guys on Friends need another friend?
That show's gone off the air.
Damn it. I would've been perfect as Rachel's lrish cousin.
So you're all doin' each other, are ya? But who's gonna put out for old Seamus?
Dunno about the best, but I know the worst. Australia. Pigdin, faux- cockney, east-end mishmash resembling no Australian that ever lived. It was ever thus.
UP AND AT THEM!
Yes. This one. I cackle every time.
900 Dollarydoos! Tobias did you accept a six hour collect call from the states?
Willy
You wanna get sued?
Apu is the best
Tis true! I took many a lump!
You mean it ain’t me noggin it’s me peepers?
ello, ello, ello, wuts all this then? It's a little bird with a knife, innit?
Quack quack quack
Which episode is this?
Treehouse of Horror XV
S16E01
They were all pretty bad
"Whenever my faith in God is shaken, I think of the miracle of anti-freeze."
Well if it isn't Elisa Simpson, and her easily-amazed assistant, Dr. Bartly.
And guess who’s been practicing medicine without a license? That’s right. Hermer Simpson
As an Australian, these lads yelling at the prime minister is a little over the top but I’m sure it’s how we sound to outsiders XD
The owner of the Italian restaurant.
Hey, Salvatore! Guess who's here! Mistah Kookalamanza and-a some-a real ugly kid!
"Sweet maiden of the spit, grant now my boon, that I might sup on suckling pig this noon!"
Does it count if we’re talking about Willie being the French teacher?
Grounds Keeper Willy
Awww, I would have said bob if it was allowed
Shut up Meg I mean Lisa
Apu. So good it got #cancelled.
“Kippers for breakfast, Aunt Helga? Is it Saint Swiven's Day already?”
“'Tis,” replied Aunt Helga
