I’ve been using AirSense 11 for the past four nights, and the results have been pretty incredible. My tested AHI score was 29, but last night my AHI score from the machine was 0.2. My partner is amazed that I’ve completely stopped snoring since starting CPAP therapy. Despite these great results, I still feel tired from time to time during the day and often feel sleepy around noon. Can anyone relate to this? I’d like to hear if others have experienced something similar and if you have any tips or advice on how to manage this lingering daytime fatigue.
My First Few Nights with AirSense 11: Amazing Results, But Still Feeling Tired!
It takes a long time for some! Myself as well. Each month things were better each day. Once I got my pressure set and caught up on all the poor sleep it's omg good. Six months was pretty happy with it. Ten months and coudlnt be happier. I am sixteen months in and beside hooked to a hose and breathing under pressure when the machine is turned on I couldnt be happier.
I'm 7 nights in and feeling more tired during the day, as well. I didn't know it was possible to be even more tired. Very frustrating. I just keep an eye on this sub and see enough comments that keep me hopeful the cpap will eventually help. And I try to be gentle with myself when I don't have the energy to do what I want. Sorry no answers for you, but I can relate. Good luck to you.
My partner, the same. It’s rough. Hope the tiredness subsides soon. 😊
Your body is healing. I could see dramatic improvement over six months, and gains continue to accrue after six months.
I started less than a week ago and I am sleeping better, my dreams are longer.
But I am way more tired. Is this normal at first? I have to go back to sleep in the middle of the day. Some people are saying this is sleep debt.
can’t wait to see how I will feel eventually! From Resmed site they are saying most people will see benefits after 25-30 days.
Same thing on my end. I feel great with the machine, I slept well. But still take a nap during the day more often than not. It’s only been about 3 months though. I hope this sleep debt thing is real.
It’s been a couple of weeks for me on a CPAP and I still feel tired but I think it’s mostly a combination of bad routine (as I used to hate going to sleep) and sleep debt. I’m confident that it will get better
Me too—I had a sense of dread before going to sleep before the CPAP. That’s gone now. I’ve heard it takes a full year to normalize this new way of sleeping.
It will take some time. I have the same machine and have been using it for 5 months. I still have mornings where I wake up a bit tired. But I am able to wake up and start my day.
I don't feel the need to nap. And I can make it through to my bedtime without yawning or napping.
Your body will need to do some healing. Some sleepiness is normal.
But do you feel as tired as you did before?
With having sleep apnea, a CPAP is only one component to get a good night's sleep. Look into improving your sleep hygiene in other areas to improve it even more. Go to bed at the same each night (aim for 8 hours before you get up to get ready for work). Don't drink or eat anything with caffeine after 3:00 PM. Don't use the bedroom for anything other than sleep and sex. Spend about an hour before bed with no screens. And many other things you can do to improve it (do a Google search and you'll find many things to improve your sleep hygiene).
Not as much as before for sure. Thanks for suggestions.
Think of how much sleep you missed out on for the last however many years, you gotta catch back up sometimes it takes a long time. I’ve been on CPAP now for about six years. My life is completely different.
I am glad it’s worked for you. I just don’t know how honestly since how long I have this! Hopefully I will feel better soon. 🙂
You’ll get there! definitely use your sleep doctor as a resource. They usually have a lot of tricks to help things go more smoothly.
Same here, 7 months passed, still tired.
