I’m curious about this because I definitely am known to jump between tv series. Is this a thing for books?? I’m currently 65% through a book but REALLLLY want to start ready another rec. Is this a thing? Or should I keep with one book at a time???
Yes completely agree with this! I'm a totally chaotic mood reader, I'll get stuck on a mini trope then something catches my eye and I pivot so hard lol
Yes! Chaotic mood reader is such a great summary of how I read.
I’ll have at minimum 2 (one print, one kindle), but sometimes up to 4 or 5. Sometimes my mind wanders.
Yeah I have kindle, Apple Books, and library/libby books. And audio books.
I need this printed on business cards with lines on the back so I can fill out what I'm reading when people ask. The stares when I say, "Well, currently I'm reading four and they are..." rambles for eternity
One on my phone, one on my actual Kindle. Plus if a library hold comes through. And sometimes one on audio as well. At least. I've got 2 going on my phone right now because one is a slow burn so I'm getting bored.
same! I like to have 2-3 going and they all have to have a completely different vibe. Like usually a fiction and a non-fiction.
I have 4 going now lol. 1 is a free book that you can only read 2 chapters every 8 hours so I'm done quickly then jumping to others. My family thinks I'm nuts for having so many books going but 🤷🏻♀️ I like to read, and I read quickly so.
I do but they’ll usually be two different genres. Romances are easy to burn through so sometimes I’ll read 5 of those while still nursing a book from a different genre.
I do the same exact thing.
Same!!
Same. I have an audiobook going at all times, often nonfiction but not exclusively and very rarely is romance and I listen on my daily walks and doing household chores. Then I have a physical book that's usually nonfiction on niche local topics that I read 1 chapter a day in. Then I have a bedtime kindle book I read on my phone which may be romance but more often than not is a cozy mystery series. Then I have my main fiction ebook on my Kindle and that can be anything but is the main place I read romances.
Yeah. Same here. I would usually switch between romance and fantasy. For me, it kind of helps prevent having a reading slump.
Me too!
Same, but I do one fiction and one nonfiction at a time, since any fiction is easy for me to burn through. Nonfiction takes more brainpower and I usually read for the cozy vibes so nurse the nonfiction books.
Always.
I usually have one audiobook and one book (kindle or standard) going at the same time.
Sometimes I may have more depending on if my Libby holds from my library love me or hate me. It’s usually feast or famine, I swear! But I try not to have more than three otherwise I feel I can’t finish anything.
I didn’t even think about audiobooks!! Don’t know how I would go listening to some of the books I read. Lol
On headphones, with a straight face 😎
The right scene in the care of the right narrator is jaw-droppingly hot 🥵 Go on, sample one!
Or it's so funny that I'm sitting there giggling and getting weird looks from others who only see me laughing at nothing or to myself since they can't always see my earbuds.
If you ever get overwhelmed w/too many from Libby all at once, you can choose to have them delivered however many days later and not lose your place in line (at least you can at my library system)
There are no rules for leisure reading. You don’t have to finish a book before starting the next one. You can read several at a time or choose not to finish—whatever is fun for you
Sometimes. I'll have a bed book, work book, and a lazy afternoon book.
I feel this so hard. Perfect description!
Usually reading about 5 at a time. 10 at the most and 3 at a minimum.
Yep, I'm like you. I seem to hit my limit at 7. But even when I finish one or two, I pick up another couple of books during a lull or a SQUIRREL 🐿❗️ moment.
I must be the odd one out😅😅 I only stick with one at a time. TBH I didn’t even know reading multiple books simultaneously was a thing. I think I would get confused between all the characters and plot lines.
Yeah, it's a thing. Usually when I'm in a slump or I'm moody. I'll start a book and my mood suddenly changes and so I'll start something else, then my mood changes again and I start something else, then suddenly I'm thinking about the first book I started so I go back to that one... rinse and repeat. Eventually one of them gets finished first 😂.
Hahaha once I move away from a book, there’s no going back😅😅 Likewise, when I’m deep into a book, I’m so invested no other book can tear me away. I mean some books have so many characters and subplots I can barely keep up. So 2-5 books would stew my brain🤣 what’s that thing they about women being adept at multitasking? Nah, not me😅
😂 Totally get it. I used to be a "if I start it I must finish it" reader. But the older I get, the moodier I get, which drastically alters my reading habits.
Plus in romance so many books are samey samey. Same tropes, same style of characters doing and saying the same things, same formula and beats...so the predictability is what makes it easy for me put them down. But when a book really hooks me, sinks its claws into me, yeah, it's a race to the very end. You can pry that book from my cold dead hands. Lol
Haha I get ya!😅😅😅 KU has made it easier for me to ditch the ones I don’t find gripping enough, thankfully. So the minute it annoys me, I’m out and I skip along to the next one🙂 Don’t get me started on the samey tropes🤦🏾♀️ some of them have been so overdone it’s unreal. But I can’t quit romance because I do enjoy a bit of smut😂😅
Same, when I saw this post I was like: “Well, that would require me being able put down the book in my hand first.”
But then again, I am also the type who forgets to eat, barely sleeps, and would even bring the book with me to WC once I get started…
Oh wow, forgetting to eat?! Now that’s a problem I wish I had 😂😂
I have kindle app on my phone and I read the kindle app on my laptop - I don't actually own a kindle.
Yesterday I was reading on my phone a rather sweet wolf shifters novel where they end up with pet bunnies (it works in the story, it's complicated) series starts with Alpha by Audrey Faye. In the meantime I was also working through some of the darker Mafia romances on my laptop. I also was reading a horror story that I had planned to review. The phone was for when I was in the kitchen etc as I can't stand for any length of time so I sit, read a few pages of extremely sweet and gentle wolf shifters and then go back to laptop later with all the dark violence.
... and I may have also been intermittently watching the football.
... and there may have also been knitting going on as I find it okay to knit a plain blanket while reading on my laptop.
I felt fine about it, so my take is that if it works for you, go for it.
Ha! I play a game on my new phone, read the kindle app on my old phone, and watch hockey.
Usually doing all 3 things keeps me focused on one book. But if I'm just reading, I'm bouncing from book to book.
I never read two books at the same time since I cannot keep up with both of the stories, but if it's something that you like then you should definitely read as many as you want, life's too short why read one at a time when you can read four lol
Yes usually 3-5. One or two on my kindle/phone, one paperback, one audio
Every time. Idk sometimes it can range from 2-15 lol. But I’m ND so I chalk it up to that. I get bored easily or get impatient/frustrated and need to switch. I do the same with tv shows, music etc. I’m the type who has the tv on, music and another tv show or YouTube show on my laptop at the same time. Sometimes I do that with books like I’ll read a couple pages then switch to another and go back and forward lol mostly when I have a book I’m reading on Wattpad and then kindle so I can easily switch between apps. Like when the ads come on for Wattpad I’ll read on kindle until it’s over.
Other times it’s when I get bored or don’t want to read that storyline rn. So I have to switch until I’m inspired to pick it up again. Sometimes I never come back to jt lol. I’ve borrowed a few books on Libby that I haven’t gotten past the first few pages but I request it again when I remember to read it then get stuck at the same spot when I restart it. Idk I’m a weirdo 😭
If I start another book, I will probably never finish the first one... Only exceptions are audiobooks and buddy read books, which I read at the same time as my "main" book.
Yep! I’ll bounce around unless I find something I’m 100% into
I’ll do one audiobook, one on my kindle and one physical… so yes lol
You do you. There are no rules ! As for me, it's not my favorite thing to do but it happens. Like this week :
- I'm coming to the end of a buddy reading of The Last Kingdom (Alexander Dreymon, amirite)
- I found {The Sweetest Gale by Olivia Dade} on Audible Plus ; my subscription comes to an end in July
- {The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston} just came up in my queue on Libby
Sweetest in the Gale by Olivia Dade
Rating: 3.12⭐️ out of 5⭐️
Steam: 3 out of 5 - Open door

The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

How are you liking the Last Kingdom? Cause yes, Alexander Dreymon 😄
I like it. It's really close to the TV series. I'm listening to it on Audible and the narrator is smashing. But am I ready to embark on a 13-book series though ? Nope.
Oh nice! I was curious to read it after enjoying the show but saw how many books it was and decided to put it on the TBR indefinitely
I feel you.
I do this, always. I read multiple books at the same time, whenever I feel like them :) it’s really great especially when you’re at a boring scene in one book or just want a different vibe
I could never! If I start one book, I like to stick to it and finish it even if im not enjoying it. My mind would be all over the place if I read multiple books at once. I don't know how people do it lol
No way Jose!
Same, I can't do it. I buddy read really short stuff every month and I can't even juggle a regular book with something that's only like 60 pages. I get too anxious so I have to go one at a time.
If I want to switch books- it usually means I am abandoning the book.
I tried doing this but I end up leaving the old book incomplete. So now I only read one book at a time
These days I limit my mood reading to 5 at a time max. 1 audiobook while cooking or walking, 3 ish on my kindle, 1 physical book.
They’re usually all different genres. 1) romance (which I read the quickest in 1-2 sittings). 2 non fiction fiction (slowest). 3) fantasy. 4) horror. 5) modern or classic literature.
i do this all the time! actually i dont think theres ever been a time where i have read one book at a time. Its always been one physical book because i went to school and phones aren’t allowed and another book on kindle and sometimes even multiple ao3 fanfics.
I don't typically, but I'm in the middle of three books right now 😅
(It's {There is No Devil by Sophie Lark}, {Whistleblower by Kay Cove}, and a reread of {Fourth Wing} because it's my comfort read recently)
I say follow your heart! If it's meant to be, you'll come back and still finish your current book. I think it also depends on the length of the book. If there's only like 100 pages left, tbh I say suck it up and finish it. But there's no shame in taking a break from a book and the current one will still be sitting there when you're ready to go back to it.

Oh yeah. I read on a Kindle and have a collection called "Currently Reading" and I fill it with the books I'm actually interested in finishing or are actively reading.
I've had numerous books on the go. I'll have a physical book I can read at work but some days I can't read said physical book at work, so I read a book on my phone instead 😂 Then I have one I read before going to bed. Sometimes I start a book and it doesn't catch my interest quick enough so I start another. 🫣 I don't really like audiobooks but I'll sometimes listen to one while I drive too.
I do this! I always have an ebook and an audiobook going at the same time. One has to be historical and one contemporary though…or fantasy. If they’re both historical I will confuse them.
I read 2 or 3 books at a time .typically one dark romance , one fantasy and one fluffy rom com to keep me sane .
I have one audiobook and one book usually! More than that, my mind will lose important details
Often! I’ve currently got an audiobook and a print book I’m plodding through, but both are on the long side. I’ll intersperse with something shorter if I just need a break.
Same as most here, it seems. I'm a mood reader. I have more than 1 going when when it comes to Kindle and hardcopy. I like hardcopy for bedtime reading. I've recently gotten into audio books and have been downing them while I do other activities like cooking, cleaning, and driving. I especially use audiobooks for dry reads like educational or self-help books.
I just started recently doing this. Usually a contemporary and a fantasy
I will occasionally do it but it has to be two different formats and two completely different genres.
Like I’m currently reading Say You Swear (physical) and The Hidden Psychology of Social Networks (audio) my brain can process those easily and differentiate easily.
Personally, I have the attention of a goldfish cracker so it's not uncommon that I switch between three or more books before finishing even one of them lol
Tho I always finish them...eventually
I read 3 at a time. One for work, one for bubble baths and one for all other times. Usually different genres.
I am a mood reader. I have several, typically 5-10 books, in progress across the Libby, Hoopla, and Kindle apps in audio and ebook format, not to mention the hardcopy I may have from my collection or library. I'm usually reading across 3-4 genres too. Some are finished in a day or two others take months. I rotate through them depending on how I feel, pending due dates (if from the library), and which story is holding my attention. I never not have multiple books in progress and they span multiple stages of completion. There are zero rules about how to read. Like is too short to worry about that.
Sure do. I'll be enjoying a relatively easy less angst but with some obstacles/tests on the horizon then feel like a cheating or unrequited love gut punch and bounce for a bit before I come back to my first book.
Or a quick read by one of my favourite authors will come out that I just can't wait and I'll dump my current book for a bit then return later.
I'm currently reading 3 books... sometimes I have mood for the one book and not the other 2, and I realize that some are not that good because why did I stop reading them for three weeks? Lol
I normally put it on hold to start reading the other one and I might go back to read the first one again later
I do! Usually two and I alternate!
I do sometimes but usually then just end up focusing on whatever I’m enjoying more so it’s not always worth it
I have an audiobook and at least one digital book, maybe 2. I like to have a romance and a thriller going sometimes so I can mood read easily. Romance can irk me if I end up choosing books that are too repetitive or if I’m having real love life drama.
Yes. I'm usually listening to an audiobook during my commute, but reading a whole separate book when I have downtime.
I try not to. The only time it happens is when I don’t finish one book before I need to finish another one for a book club or something. I just prefer putting my energy in one book to actually finish it.
Yes especially if it's a requirement for class. For context i took a course in horror fiction
According to my Goodreads, I'm reading five books right now.
Try it out and see if you like it, you never know. Personally I can handle two books at once but they are usually different genres and formats. Typically I am usually reading something fictional and listening to something non fiction while do household tasks.
I can only read one at a time, but recently I've been able to add an audiobook, too.
I read 3 at a time but they're all different. I do one non fiction or historical fiction (no smut). One smutty af book. One fiction that's not romantic.
I am usually reading at least two books at a time and that number has been as high as five I believe. Like, the other day I had just started {Payback's a Witch by Lana Harper} and then found out that Kate Canterbary's latest book {Change of Heart} had been released early on Audible so I diverted because I couldn't help myself. Then I went back to PaW and literally just finished it. Both got five stars from me, by the by, and I'm now riding high on the double fivers in a row.
Payback's a Witch by Lana Harper

Steam: 3 out of 5 - Open door
Topics: contemporary, witches, magic, funny, paranormal
Change of Heart by Kate Canterbary
Rating: 5⭐️ out of 5⭐️
Steam: 4 out of 5 - Explicit open door
Topics: contemporary, workplace/office, competent heroine
Yes 2 and or fics and manhwa
Sometimes I’ll have a living room book and a bedroom book. And I almost always have an audiobook going while I work.
I’m a mood reader so I read 2-3, sometimes 4 books at a time. I try to make sure they’re all different genres depending on my mood - fantasy, contemporary, something cute/fluffy, monster, horror, or dark romance.
I have 7 books on my "currently reading" list right now. I'm mostly reading one of them, but I take a break and read one of the other ones every 5 chapters or so. I don't have the attention span to only read a single book unless it's a lifechanging book haha
Yes, I read up to six books at a time. They have to be different enough otherwise I get confused.
Usually 1 on my ereader and 2 audiobooks. One of the audiobooks is solo narration and the other is duet or full cast. So i can switch between how am feeling at the moment. But always 2 books at a time.
I usually have an audiobook going— usually this is a “reread” tho.
I’ll have a romance and a nonfiction book going at the same time.
Usually just one at a time for me but sometimes I add an audiobook.
I'm a serial book starter too lol I do this so much I ended up reading like 7 books at the same time. Guess we just like knowing new stories? Like, I don't even care about reading 2nd books, the idea of knowing new characters and worlds is so much more appealing to me
When I do they have to be completely different genres. A Romance and a horror. Or a Sci-Fi and a thriller. I've gotten characters and plots mingled in my head when they are the same genre.
I almost always have one audiobook and one book at least. A lot of times I hop between several books if none is really holding my attention. But when I find a good one, I know it because I'll drop all the other books to keep reading it.
right now I have 17 books marked as currently reading, it's a bit out of control omg. it's totally something you can do, tho it doesn't really work for everyone. for me my attention just tends to wander and I find sometimes I can get burnt out on a single book if I put all my attention on it without anything else.
One by the bed, one in the living room where I sit, one by the tub, and I read on the middle when out of the house.
I always have 4-5 One audiobook One physical romance One other book (bonfiction or literary. Currently I have both) 1-2 on kindle
I usually read a romance novel and something more ✨educational✨ and bounce between the two.
Hahaha I have 66 books tagged currently reading on storygraph. I'll get back to it... eventually?
But yeah, I sometimes read up to 3 books at the same time, I pause when things get too intense/ when I'm in the mod for something else
Always! An audiobook and at least two on Kindle. I pick depending on my mood.
Yes, but one silly little smut book and one sensible non fiction book
I’m reading between 3-4 at any given time. I think I mood read, so I choose which one I want to continue with based on how I’m feeling. There are books and authors I’ll just consume in one sitting, regardless of mood!
Occasionally I’ll do an audiobook and an e-book at the same time. Also I was reading The Expanse earlier this year (super long, hard sci fi series) and kept taking breaks to read romance to break it up. If all I’m reading is romance though I just do one at a time since I can get through them so quickly.
I usually read 2-3 books at a time…. I pretty much always have in my rotation one romance book and one or two fantasy/sci-fi books going at all times. Helps me have something to read for different moods/energy levels/reading effort.
I can do it if the plots are vastly different or it’s a non fiction book. It keeps it super separate for me.
As a mood reader, yes. Sometimes I’ll have 3 or 4 especially if i’m considering not finishing one because I’m just not interested anymore.
Oh yeah, I do, my coworker does the same thing. I have a classic reading list I'm trying to get through, I usually have one of those going and a romance at the same time. My coworker just does romance after romance. (Its so fun to talk to her about romance because Like no else I know reads romance like that.)
I do this quite often I find it a way to keep things fresh especially if one of the books I am reading is too long
Yep. Audiobook(s), kindle, hard copy all going at once most of the time.
I've always had a tendency to do this and it drove my mother crazy! I still kinda do it now like I'll have one ebook, one physical, and sometimes an audiobook. I just have to make sure they're all like different genres so they don't get mixed up in my head
I always have at least 2 books going, often more. Always 1 audio and 1 ebook, but if another book grabs my attention I will sometimes start another before I finish the other. It’s definitely a thing. It’s your hobby; enjoy it how you want. There’s no rules
If I am to have more than a book to read, certainly two different genres: a romance book in an addition with a more difficult / serious one (maybe philosophical or smth 😅)
I'm reading 6 rn 😭 it really is like tv shows to me
Im currently between 3 different books 🤣 its a problem 🤣
I’ve got like 7 books going right now. It’s getting a bit out of hand.
I’ll have a print or ebook going and also an audiobook. So I’m always reading at least two books. Sometimes if I decide to tackle a big book I’ll take breaks from it and read something quick and light so I won’t get into a slump. It works fairly well.
All the time
Yes!
Yep, I always have a physical book im reading (sometimes 2), and 1 or 2 kindle books. My physical books are usually fantasy, scifi, mysteries, etc and for kindle it’s almost exclusively romance and fantasy romance since I can read those much faster.
I do this often. Especially with standalone series or interconnected standalone series. I'm currently reading 6 different ones. And have 2 audiobooks going on.
Yes, I was reading a physical copy of Powerless during the day and at night I was reading A Dowry of Blood on my kindle so I could read in the dark. Sometimes I throw in audiobooks if I am multitasking.
I've also been slowly reading A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for a few months now, feeling more motivated now that HOTD is back.
Yes I always have one audiobook and 2 or more on my kindle. I started doing that because sometimes it’s hard for me to start a new book after I’ve finished a really good one. Like I’m still thinking about the characters from the old book so I can’t get into the new book. But if I’ve already started that second book then it’s easier. I already know those characters. Also if I’m reading a really great book and have that feeling that I never want the book to end, I’ll take a break from it and read something else. Sort of delaying the ending of that book.
I am usually reading 3-4 books at a time. IDK.
I read a romance book in 5-10 min intervals throughout the day when I can sit down briefly, and then I have another book for bed (different genre) so I can actually focus 😆
I can read two books at once if they are different genres. Like right now I’m reading a memoir and a fantasy romance. No overlap between them to get confused in my mind!
I usually have at least 2 books going, a school book and a home book. I teach ELA and read along with my students during choice reading. Anything with explicit content or that I wouldn’t want to explain to my boss, a parent, or a student is a home book.
I usually have two going at the same time. One on my Kindle app and an audiobook for my commute.
Wife does. I do NOT. There is no way I could. My memory is so bad I can barely remember what happened if it takes me more than a day to listen to a book.
I’m incapable of reading more than one book at a time. I wish I could
I jut can't read one book. I always have one book in my purse, to read while I am waiting for the bus, or during my lunch hour. At home, I usually read two at a time. So.. three in total.
I'm a very slow reader so I do this all the time!
I'm currently reading like 6🤣. I never used to do this, but as I've gotten older I've found it harder to force myself to read a book if I'm just not feeling it. That's not to say I'm not liking the book, I'm just a very moody reader and if a I want to read but a certain book doesn't fit my mood at the moment, I find one that does. Yes, it causes me to finish books way slower, but I'm not in a competition so I don't care. When I first started reading multiple books, I thought it would be difficult for me to keep the stories separate, but it really isn't as long as the stories aren't too similar.
Yes I am currently reading 4
I do!
I have two kindles - one I keep in my purse (backpack) and one I keep for home. So always two active books. And then sometimes there is a real book, usually from the library. And then there is an audio book for walking to work and around. ANd then there is the book to replace one of the kindle books because I like shiny objects. So - counting all of that up - I am often reading six or more books at once.
And no, I don't keep it all straight in my head. Which is part of the fun. And when people ask me what I am reading, I have no idea.
Yeah, I have 5 open right now. I remember my page and everything that happened as soon as I open it. It’s super weird, because I don’t have that good of memory with literally anything else in my life. It’s pretty useless… why can’t I remember any of my appointments? lol
I do this all the time! I'm a mood reader and my mood can bounce around mid read. Sometimes even mid sentence. Like the MC will say something that reminds me of another book and I have to skip on over to satiate the craving. 🙃🙃🙃
I do this sometimes when I'm in between a book that really captures my attention. I can only do it when the books are entertaining but doesn't keep me in a chokehold. Does that make sense?
Does anyone only read one book at a time???
The only time I can do this is if one of them is an audiobook. I like audiobooks for when I’m driving, cleaning, or doing some thing where I can’t sit down to read.
Yup. Especially on chapters app. I read on amazon, chapters etc.
Just checked my kindle, I have six e books on the go. My phone has two audiobooks and I have one physical book atm.
I’m currently reading one physical and three e-books and one audiobook 😅 such a mood reader and what’s more convenient at the time
All the time. But I switch from simple to complex. Audiobook and written. Things that are not similar at all
Aw hell no, I can’t keep up with multiple books at a time.
At most I’ll read like, a short fanfiction then abandon it cause I’m using up too much brain power trying to focus on an actual book
Always
Only if one is one that I've read loads of times before. If I'm on the train or something, I'll stick a hitchhikers in my bag as I won't pay full attention to my main book and want something comforting. But I couldn't tandem read properly
Yes. I typically have a physical book, ebook and autobook.
I read three or four books and then I have books on my kindle that I read in tandem also lol
Big mood reader here. I’ve usually got an audiobook and a physical book going at all times. Sometimes I put down the physical book to cleanse my palette with something else. Mostly I’ll circle back around and finish things eventually. Lately, I have been having a helluva time getting hooked into an audiobook.
I typically am in the middle of 3-5 books.
My grandmother introduced the idea to me when I was quite young with the upstairs book (what will you read before you fall asleep), the downstairs book (so you don't have to walk up the stairs to get the upstairs book), the purse book (for waiting for the doctor, children, politicians, ect), and the vacation book (you knew you were going to leave these behind at the end of the trip).
I do this often. Especially since I listen to audio books at work during the week and try to read a little during the weekend.
Currently reading 2 and about to start one that just released and I’ve been waiting forever for. So yes. Yes I read more than one at a time.
Absolutely 🙋🏻♀️
Definitely! It depends on what im mood for, which floor of the home iam in, what medium i want for read etc
yeeeep! i read usually 2-4 books at a time like a madman 🙃
I sometimes get bored halfway through a book so then I start another one. (I do go back to finish it later on though)
I currently have 6 books that I’m reading. Two are audiobooks. I’m a mood reader, so I have to switch it up often. Some are darker and some are fluffy, so I have options each time I open my eReader.
I do this. I usually have one main romance or romantasy book I'm reading, some sort of fun/spicy erotica situation, and then one non-fiction audiobook going all the time.
I read around 4-5 at a time pretty consistently. The last time I read one book at a time was when I first started reading.
I do! But usually it’s just an Audiobook (listen when working) to a book on my kindle.
I do this, but normally when I’m nearly finished with one book. I don’t want to be left without a book in my commute without a book, so I start a new one. I have also done this when the book I was reading was very disturbing. For example, whenever my book club reads Karin Slaughter. Can’t read that before bed. I will not sleep.
I used to be able to do this 😩 had my work book which was often audio. Travel book which was kindle, and home which was print. I can’t barely do one now.
I’ll do an audio and a print (physical or kindle) at one time.
I'm never not reading/listening to multiple books. I jump around from genre to genre, ebook to audiobook.
Yes often. I currently am reading two very different books and am listening to an audio book that I will likely finish today. Similar to a tv series, I need to always have something else lined up.
If you consider audiobooks then yes.
I listen during the day when I get any chance. Then I read my kindle at night.
Yeah!! I read like 2-3 books at a time
Yes, I do this. Sometimes I buy a new book while already reading one and I get so excited to read the new one, I take a pause, read the new one, then get back to the one I was reading in the first place.
Not really, if I start something I tend to see it through. There are times where I'm just not feeling it but I know I will come back to it, so I shelve it for a while. But I hate doing it because then I feel like I have to re-read it all again to catch up when I go back to it.
I enjoy romance books but when I'm at the tail-end of one I'll start a thriller/mystery novel to switch up genres. I also will keep a non-fiction book to read in the "background" that I'll read slowly (like a chapter every few days).
I'm always reading at least one print, one audiobook, and a manwha at a time. Different formats for different scenarios. And a lot of times I'll put down one book for months at a time and pick it back up when I remember.
I do I usually have a romance e book and a different genre audiobook to keep from burn out
Yep. I started doing this cuz webnovels upgrades are usually one time a week, same for fanfic, so did the same with full books
I used to read strictly one book at a time and I also couldn't leave a book unfinished, even if I didn't like it. The result is that I'd take long breaks where I wouldn't read at all because I was just not in the mood for the book I had already started. Now I just allow myself to switch between books if I am not in the mood for a certain genre or DNF when I dislike the book. Also, while I'm generally more of a binge-reader, there are certain books that I'll be happy to take my time reading bit by bit every couple of days, like a Jane Austen novel.
I am usually in the midst of one physical book, one on kindle and one audiobook because i have long commute to and from work. I also do mix of genre so it keeps my interest (one non fiction, one fiction/fantasy and one romance) :)
Nice. Pls share the Titles/Recommendations. Will help with my commute as well!
i definitely do!! either bc i see something else i am interested in but it’s also bc i don’t want the book i’m reading to end 😭
nah cuz if I start a book and feel uninterested by 50% I just wanna get done with it and move onto the next one so all I do is skim through the rest of the novel 😭
Its been a while im doing this and to me was like just freeing my cages in reading, as i really love reading and its what makes me feel so good I stop seeing a problem on having more than one book to read at same time, but i do this: I start a book i was wanting to read through a long time then i stop reading for a while and if im feeling to read another one i just pick it and instantly starts to read it too, as Im a kindle reader it turns so be much more easier to and great, love to download my ebooks and use kindle unlimited, so yeah just read anything you want and in your time!
oh yes if i am in the mood for a book i start it, often i’ll have 1-2 main books going then maybe 3 other slower reads (classics, nonfic, fantasy) i’m partway through, we are here for vibes pure vibes there are no rules
With me, its either I love a series/book so much I binge it within a day and literally can’t stop, or I DNF it. Dont necessarily have time to it to DNF it but it just has to keep me interested/excited for more or else I get bored very easily
I do this all the time—especially if I realllly want to get to others on my TBR or are the month’s book club pick and most importantly when I want to drag out finishing a book bc I don’t want it to end 🥹
As a university student I’ve often been reading my smart book assigned for class and then my romance book where I can turn my brain off. I love reading in my free time but when I have to do so much for school doing it for leisure can be intimidating.
I read a few books at a time, a different book that is a little out of my comfort zone, a book I know I'm gonna like, a reread, and a non-romance book.
Not always (and especially now that I have less time to read) but I usually do different formats (1 print, 1 ebook or audio) and different genres.
Lol, got 10 I'm reading right now. 😅
I usually have one physical book, at least one book and an audiobook or two on the go at any time.
I borrow a lot of books from the library so in addition to mood reading there are actual deadlines that impact the decisions about what im reading!
I will read two at a time, but usually a different format (ex: a physical book and an e book, or a physical book and an audio book), and can usually only do a fiction/non-fiction pairing
If it's a reeaalllly good book, I stick to the one. But mostly I read two at a time and I usually pick two that are a little different, like one is more humorous and the other more angsty. At one point I was reading a suuper slowburny book (looking at you, Lukov!) and I think it took took me a couple months or more to get through it, and while I was reading that I had three books going at a time. So do whatever you want. There's no wrong way to read books as long as you enjoy it!
A book on tape
A romance
Something to better my mind
A National Geographic
A breathe magazine
And my textbooks
Do it! If it doesn't work and you get confused then you know it's not a good method for you. But hell yeah, I usually have one series, one nonfiction, and one stand-alone fiction going at a time.... at least. :D
I 100% do this. I most often have two books going at the same time, sometimes three. I can start book A and go read the entirety of book B before going back to finish book A. 😂 But they have to be different genres as each gives me a bit of a break from the other, if that makes sense. This break also makes me come back to the first book refreshed, excited, and motivated to finish! I sometimes get frustrated and impatient with slow burns so I need to go read something more fast-paced and instantly captivating. So 90% of the time it'll be a romance and a psychological thriller, but it can also be a nonfiction or a Québecois book (god, I just read some reaaally good ones!).
I do this with tv shows as well (but in that case it can be like... idk 10 at a time lol). I just atttribute it to my ADD.
I usually read 3-4 at a time. But they’re all mixed around. Right now I have in print romance I read. One in print memoir. An in print book related to my professional sphere and 2 audiobooks. I would struggle a little bit to read two very similar books but what I read is all so dramatically different it’s not hard to keep them sorted.
I'm always reading an ebook and reading a physical book at the same time, but they have to be different genres. It's nice because if I'm not in the mood for one, I can read the other. Also when I'm at work and there is nothing to do I can just hope on the kindle app on my phone and read my ebook.
I usually switch books if it’s a really long book that’s not interesting me and come back to it later or I need a different topic. The book is good but I just need a change like if I’ve read nonfiction for a while I’ll need a fiction book to help switch things up
I normally have at least 3 simultaneously out of this 4 options: I have an audiobook for chores, an audiobook for excersizing, a normal\light read and a heavy read (normally something that requires me using a dictionary or some amount of research. Like a shakespeare or something that's technically a text book)
I do this. I often bounce around between books. Sometimes I’m really into one and read the whole thing, other times I get to a point where my mood shifts and I switch between books.
