Cutoff at 85

QUESTION

How likely is it do we think that it is that someone will fail in 85? I just finished the test like 15ish minutes ago. I did the Pearson Vue trick and could still register so obviously now I’m freaking out even though I know it’s not guaranteed that’s right. I felt so prepared going in and then the questions were so random and off the wall and I feel like I got so many prioritization questions which I hate. Here’s to not sleeping until I get my results. 🫠

Update: I PASSED!! Took about 48 hours to get my results from the state but I’m officially an RN!

I completed it in 85 and I was 99% sure I failed. I felt like I was answering every question wrong. I waited an hour to do the pvt and I did the whole registration but then I got the good pop up after payment. The payment went through but I never received a email and the payment was reversed about 2 hours later. Although I had the good pop, I thought it wasn't right because I just knew I did so bad that the exam shut off at 85. But I eneded up checking the bon nurse portal and it showed my RN license the next day around 10 pm. So, if you do the pvt trick again and you get the good pop up, I would just try to relax and wait for your license to post or for your results become available. Watch movies, play games, do anything to keep your mind busy lol but I think you passed.

Do NOT do the Pearson vue trick. It's been fixed so that it's a lot more inaccurate now and will give you random pop ups. I also finished in 85 and the stupid pop up trick kept insinuating that I'd failed and it absolutely crushed me. I ended up finding out that I'd passed!

I wish people wouldn’t talk about it so much because man it was a mood killer. I decided that I shouldn’t have looked and that my results (per other people in my nursing program that are also getting licensed in KY) should be ready early tomorrow morning. So just one night of no sleep hopefully 🤞🏼

I completely understand! I always try to encourage everybody not to do that pop up trick because it really will just stress you out more. Keep us updated tomorrow! I'm sure you did great!

85 also in two hours. I had same feeling. The cases I was super sure of the answers. But the ped what type of advices should give with the diapers got the worst of me. Also many rare medications. I am an actual RN in my home country and I had never administrated them.

If it was too soon it would have said you currently have an open exam. Did you receive the email saying you had completed the exam prior to trying the PVT?

No. I still haven’t gotten an email saying I completely my exam. I probably should just chill out but man is that hard.

i just found out today that i passed my nclex after it shut off at 85. it’s way more likely to pass at 85 than fail. you can check your states licensure so you don’t have to pay to get your results. you got this.

so for example i’m from tennessee, so i looked up “tennessee licensure lookup” or you can use nursys.com ! mine shown up on my states licensure first for me, but it shown up on nursys.com for my friend first! so it just varies for each person!

mine took 2 days, but i also took it on a sunday so that might be why. my friends was on there the next day at 8pm ! so hopefully since it’s a week day it will show up soon for you!

I took mine last Thursday at 8am and found out around 640 the next morning! Ohio nurse here

i was cut off today at 85 as well. i’ve failed 3-4 times (in the minimum questions) although i never really sat down to study for nclex. i’m 4 years post graduation and had to do a remediation course when i decided i wanted to try again. i have sat down and studied for 2-3 weeks daily and extreme study the last week and felt so discouraged coming out since it cut me off at 85. i feel like i’ve automatically failed since that’s been my past experiences. i normally do the PVT as soon as i come out and i did not today. i waited about 2 hours, tried it and i did get the good pop up. still not sure i believe it. i’ve always gotten the bad pop up though so im very anxious today!!!

You passed. If the exam wasn't "95% sure" as they describe it, it would have kept going and giving you more questions. Also, if you feel like the questions were that weird and random, that means they were hard, and thus, you were getting enough correct for it to give you hard ones. Report back! But I myself and 95% confident you passed. You have to be *extremely* unprepared to fail at 85. Don't stress!

From what I’ve heard, 85 is a good sign because you either passed or failed really badly, which is unlikely. I also passed in 85.

Mine shut off at 85 when I took it June 4th. Of course I freaked out and did the “Pearson Trick”. Everyone that already took it in my class (16 of them total) did the same and they got the “good” pop up that said they couldn’t register and all passed. It will charge your account, but that money will come back. While I still didn’t trust it, I passed. Try to distract yourself these next two days until you can get your quick results (I know, easier said than done). I’m sure you passed!

Mine shut off at 87 and I got the bad pop up! I found out early the next morning. Agreed- do not do the PVT!!!!! It will just stress you out more

If you were charged and sent a confirmation email then you failed, but if you got refunded you passed!

It’s unlikely that someone failed after 85 questions but not impossible.
