Did I unlock a new trick to not get hassled on The Strip?

I would be shocked if the street performers actually recognize an Aviators hat.

Funny theory but it's probably just your attitude, I don't really think they care about the hat but if you walk around with confidence and know where youre going they usually pass you over for people gazing at casinos and gawking around.

When in New Orleans i like to hit these types for money before they ask me. As soon as eye contact is made and they move on me i start asking them for $5. I plan on using this tactic when I arrive tomorrow :)

Wonder if it works for the ladies dressed up as showgirls. They are relentless anytime I go for a walk.

Yep, I wear a unlv hat and workout clothes then walk with my "don't bother" face. The timeshare people still try but are easily dismissed.

I just say "no thanks," give them a open palm half wave goodbye and keep walking. It seems to do the trick. Haven't been hassled in years.

I was at Little Darlings one time with friends. We got a table and we were celebrating our friends 21st.

He was the first one to turn 21 and wanted to do something with all of us, too.

I kid you not, on three separate occasions, a girl would walk up to our table, ask us where we were from, and when we said we were locals they straight up walked away without saying another word lol.

So yeah, I would say being a local or making it seem like you're local will give you the pass for unwanted and sometimes wanted attention hahaha.

We were just there Tuesday-Sunday and there was a noticeable difference between midweek to weekend in the amount of people looking for something from you on the strip. I honestly just think it was your timing.

Well, getting hassled has everything to do with where you are looking. If you look forward and don't give those people any eye contact they will mostly ignore you. I know this from riding the NYC subway. It's always the tourists who have never encountered such things to stare at someone doing something odd and then they get targeted. The hat probably covered your eyes a bit, thats' my theory.

Me: "FUCK NO" and keep walking

I do make a point to not wear anything that mentions my alma mater or local teams, just to cut back on any opportunities to try to strike up a conversation...

You want to know the trick to being left alone on the strip.... where a name tag. No one will talk to you. They'll actually avoid you when they see a name tag. Source: worked on the strip for over 13 years.

Haha, I wear my Vegas Lights shirts and Aviator hats all the time and usually one or two of the locals working at a bar, casino or wherever, recognize it. I've even had a few of those janky fake showgirls say, "I like your hat/ shirt" because no tourist is really gonna wear that stuff. I doubt the homeless know tho. The timeshare people, the makeup girls and those monks are all in their own little world so I don't expect them to recognize the gear. So, glad to made it to and game and good move on the hat either way.

Deck yourself out in Raiders gear and walk like you just got out of prison with a mean face. Seems to be the stereotype everyone gives us fans anyway. Might as well take advantage of it. Also, everyone looks better in silver and black.

About 10 years ago, I bought the beads from a monk on the strip. Bring it with me every time I go and wear it. When I see the monks, I just show them my beads.

Walk with purpose and hold your phone up to your ear. 

I’ve lived here 30+ years and would have no idea who the aviators are if I just saw the name on a hat.

I always ask how much? Then tell them no and walk away. Just to mess with them.

Few locals, if any, walk the strip and vendors know that. I’d chalk it up to good luck.

There's a bit of truth to if you wear Knights or Aviators gear its a bit more assumed that you're a local

Don't have an empty hand, and refrain from eye contact. You'll get hassled a lot less. Saying "no thank you" and continuing your stride is usually more than enough to get them off your back right away.

Lmfao I discovered the same thing last time I was there but I had a golden knights hat on. Not one hustler or showgirl came up to me walking down the strip by myself on a Saturday night. I wasn’t sure if it’s that or the fact that I’m a 6’4 male but bartenders and servers kept telling me “nice hat” and stuff like that.

Go to the UNLV bookstore and buy UNLV shirts and hats.

If you walk around with long sleeves, they leave you alone. Only the locals dress this way because we know inside the casinos it will be cold. The majority of people outside wearing shorts and short sleeved shirts? Tourists.

Ignore them entirely or “I live here” if they keep hassling “leave me the fuck alone” loud enough so everyone within 10 feet shoots them a look.

The best trick is to use noise cancelling earbuds. They were a big help the last two times. The last time I went last week, with the new "no stopping on the crosswalks" rule-- almost flawless. Sadly my buds broke down during my vacation.

But when they're working, you can't hear anyone heckling at you, talking to you. "Hey you want this card bud?" Ignore

I could wear a Vegas knights hat a raiders sweatshirt and aces sweatpants and I’d get harassed

I never get hassled. Was there in March. I walk fast with my eyes locked on nobody and carry an irritated face. They go for the people laughing, taking selfies and drinkers. It's not the true me but I cruise down the strip and Nola with no hassles.

Or you could just ignore them instead of creating some bullshit drama for Reddit attention
