Would anyone who's done a NOBO hike in September mind sharing their gear list? Would love to compare to make sure I'm not missing anything. Thank you!
Appreciate that. What was your sleep system like for those colder nights? Also, what is your favorite sleeping pad? I've had a Big Agnes Q Core Deluxe and I hate it. Looking to replace
My setup has changes a lot in the past 2 years but for that trip I used a 20 degree EE revelation quilt, an Exped 3R pad (I do not recommend this pad as it was a bit too cold and not very comfortable), and a torso length segment of z-lite CCF pad for added warmth. I would recommend a sleeping pad with an R value >4.
For sleeping pads, I love the comfort and warmth of my Sea to Summit Comfort Plus insulated, but I rarely take it out anymore since its so heavy at 2lbs. I am now using the Nemo Tensor All Season which weights 14.1oz, and has an R value of 5.4.
The only gear difference in September would be related to the chance of slightly colder nights, and maybe a slight chance of snow (historically very low) which would usually melt within a day or two. Bugs should be gone by then as well.
We did late September SOBO 2022 and had some nights in the low 20's but that seemed a bit unusually cold. Just be prepared for anything up there, as always.
