Imagine the real world functions like this show and when people die they become ghosts. Someone comes to you and offers you possibility to see ghosts. Would you accept it or do you think the power is more a curse than a gift? Like Sam can't live in big cities anymore as it is overwhelming to her given how many people died there. Also can be awkward to ignore ghosts in order to look normal in front of other living people?
Preach my friend, preach.
no... not all ghosts are going to be quirky. i'm sure i'll run into one or two that would be fun to hang out with, but i feel those ones will be few and far between
I think I would. I wouldn't miss cities. And, in the home, there are ways of establishing privacy - make a deal with the ghosts or, if needed, line rooms with the ghost-proof vault material.
There are benefits - getting the ghosts to help you cheat at cards etc. to make some money. And also some less selfish pursuits like learning about history or solving mysteries etc. You could also get work as the first ethical medium.
It could be a decision I'd end up regretting but may end up worth the risk and the negatives can be managed.
Honestly, probably not. While the ghosts have flaws, they’re overall a really great group of people. It’s super entertaining & they are friends. But odds are that isn’t how it would be in reality. These people are good looking, similarly aged (there’s not a gap of infant to elderly), nice ghosts. I’m sure you wouldn’t get that lucky in real life.
Oh God I couldn't imagine being able to see and hear a ghost baby
There probably wouldn't be any. What unresolved issues would a baby need to work out?
I guess I didn’t think about that part. But I was going more off of it seems more likely that you wouldn’t get a group of ghosts that are all relatively close in age to you, you’d get a mix of outliers. And the unfortunate fact is that babies do pass away, so it’s reasonable to assume that if there are ghosts that you could interact with, I’d have to guess there would be babies. Although I’d hope they’d all just go up.
Are there always unresolved issues? I could be misremembering, but at least the UK show makes it clear that it's all pretty random and the ghosts themselves don't really understand how any of this works
In the BBC version there’s a super creepy child ghost that sings (kinda like Alberta can hum) yikes!
Jemima :)
A ghost baby who is suffering from an illness...
Very spot on and greatly phrased!
The 8 main characters-ghosts are overall, indeed, a really great group of nicely looking people.
While someone contrary - like Elias (Hetty's husband) or the mall ghosts, or some dead criminal, a junkie, a mentally sick person or someone with anger issues often being in the vicinity would be horrible!
As a person, yeah it would be cool
As an EMT, absolutely not, How many car ghosts would be attached to my ambulance, or at the hospital, I already struggle with the loss of some patients, imagine having them in my ear while I'm working, or worse being a poltergeist.
Former EMT and I had the same thought since we found out how car ghosts work.
Imagine it would be so crowded in an older rig if lots of people died in that one. No way I’d be able to work if I could see and hear them. Plus we wouldn’t be able to avoid passing through each other and if they have a power triggered by that, yikes. Get one that ODed and suddenly you’re high af trying to treat your pt. That would be bad.
I’d LOVE to see a scene involving this. Jay gets hurt trying to fix the house again to avoid spending, needs an ambulance, Sam goes to get in to ride with, but it’s just packed with ghosts and she shakes her head, “no, no, nope. I’m just gonna take the car.” Cue Jay panicking wondering what ghostly horror she just saw, thinking his EMTs are really bad at their job or something.
That'd be Great!! Another EMT here.
Not really. There would be some ghosts I would like to be able to talk to (beloved relatives, people of interest, or just nice people), but you’d never know if your house was actually haunted by jerks or creeps who would say horrible things or scream at you when you try to sleep.
Only if I can turn it off
NOPE. Nope nope nopety nope. I am an introvert and the thought of ghosts being literally everywhere seems like hell. Sam has essentially become their indentured servant and I would not be down with that ever.
I'm sure someone somewhere that is an extrovert could make an awesome carrear out of talking to ghosts - but that person is NOT me.
Closest I would willingly go is something like a hollodeck program where you play someone who can talk to ghosts (I run every hypothetical through my actial life and would I want to play that hollodeck program) which sounds like fun if you could turn it off after a few hours.
I would only say yes if I could turn the power on and off.
I think it would be interesting but honestly kinda creepy. So, probably no.
If ghosts stay where they died, you’d never be able to visit a hospital ever again. That place would be teeming with ghosts. And imagine stumbling into a children’s hospital. That heartbreak would last forever.
nope
No. I'm sure most of them wouldn't be as friendly and they would constantly bug you with whatever unfinished business they have.
No I live in a city and I wouldn’t want to live somewhere rural. Also, I can be a bit shy when it comes to making new friends so I don’t think it would be healthy for me to basically have those built in friends that can’t actually go and experience the world with me. Like I’d end up staying home and watching tv with them too much.
Nope. I’m a teacher. And I know there is always the possibility of ghosts from older times and properties…I also know that it’s inevitable that a student had died at school. Nope. Not up for that. Ghost kids are always either terrifying or heartbreaking.
The part of me that likes to “therapize” people might like it, because maybe I could help them get sucked off, but yeah, the “real” ghosts most likely wouldn’t be as fun, funny, or sweet, nor as visually pleasant, as the Ghosts ghosts. Plus I would never feel like had privacy ever again!
No!
Depends. How crazy are the ghosts?
Not the way they appear in the show. Most of them don't visibly show how they died, but some do. The basement ghosts would be very unpleasant to see all the time.
Hell, No!
I’ve seen some weird, nothing like the ghosts in the series, and that was more than I ever wanted.
No, I'd always be unsure if I'm looking at a living person or a ghost
I do already.
It’s okay.
Can you tell the difference between dead and alive people?
I live in NY so if the ghosts were similar to the ones in the show then sure!
No. There may be ghosts hanging around watching me, but I don't want to know about it.
Only if I can control the power
Only if I could turn it off.
Yes! I have a horrible fear of death and I find this show so comforting just thinking that maybe we do somehow go on. Idk. Stupid.
No, imo it’s a curse.
Yes, because I'd become the best poker player on earth. I'd say every casino is bound to have a few ghost on the premises. Just have to meet up with them, offer a few choice bribes if they help me win and boom, I'm rich.
Then build a new house on a new plot with no ghost so I can Live in peace.
Yes. But only because I am a Disabled lonely former extrovert who thrived when living on a campus.
I often joke with my husband that if this happened to us with our luck he'd be the one to see the Ghosts and I'd be Jay.
Definitely, I would have by far more friends lol I’m a loner so I would enjoy trying to help the ghosts out as much as possible.
I definitely would, that would be cool
I used to, until I saw an episode of Ghost Whisperer where the main character walked through town and ghosts keep badgering her nonstop. That would definitely get annoying pretty fast.
never would i ever want this ever
What I always think about is if someone I loved died, I’d have to stay there and take care of them for the rest of my life (even if I couldn’t see them, but just knew they were there.)
take care of them how? they're already dead. 😂
You know, turn the TV to the Viking channel and such 😄
Yes. I'd enjoy it. But I wouldn't want them around all the time.
To quote Sam, "Central Park looks like the Thrlller video," so no.
The issue for me would be that you can’t always tell them apart from living people 😂
Only if i can like turn it "on/off"
Hell no
Given how CostCo turned out, no way. Now why did I go to costco again? I forget.
Little soaps
Yeah but I'd totally use my powers better than she does.

I would, because I live in small village I would love to see what history is in my day to day areas.
I want to say yes and I want to say no because my im a inpatient oncology RN. I can only imagine what is see at work. 😬
No. I just don't see how it would improve my life.
Isn't this just how life already is? LOL. I mean honestly if Sam was just a better actor she could totally get through without noticing the dead
Yes I would like to
On one hand, I'd love to go search for my deceased loved ones. But on the other hand, I don't think I would be able to handle the loss of privacy or the ability to believe I was alone. Idk.
I'm stressed enough having to put up with the living.
